In the 19th century the flour mills in Vejer were water driven. The best known is located in the Santa Lucía area of Vejer. Windmills were constructed on the ridge which were able to withstand the strong easterly gusts. The four windmills that remain in the San Miguel district on the edge of the village were built in the 1960s and have since been restored.
I finally made a trip to see the beautiful Halnaker tunnel of trees and windmill, which is looking wonderful with its new sails.

Lytham Windmill is situated on Lytham Green in the coastal town of Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England. It is of the type known as a tower mill and was designed for grinding wheat and oats to make flour or bran. The mill was built on Lytham marshes around 1805 on land leased by the local landowner and squire to miller Richard Cookson. Wikipedia The building to the right of the windmill was formerly the lifeboat station and was opened in 1863.
Windmill or no windmill, he said, life would go on as it had always gone on--that is, badly.

One more time...the Spanish windmills :-)
The Consuegra windmills have fame overall since the Don Quijchote 's stories were published in the 16th century.
The windmills, which by now have become a symbol of Spain, were originally used to grind grain. Most mills consist of 2 rooms on 2 floors. The miller had to lug the bags with grain to the top floor. A heavy work if you consider that these bags weighed about 60 a 70 kg each. Once at the top the grain was grind into flour through the heavy mill stones..
One turned the hood of the windmill as the wind direction changed and so the mill could always be used. The windmills remained in the family and were passed from father to son. Since the eighties of the last century the mills of Consuegra are no longer in use.
