You don't have to go to the Netherlands for windmills. The city park has 3 or 4 in Bruges. We drove by on our small tour bus because it was a rainy day but they were close enough to walk to in good weather.
The old windmill. This was built to pump water up into the water tank in the nearby House in the Clouds. It is now being converted to private accommodation.
Chesterton Windmill is a 17th-century cylindric stone tower windmill with an arched base, located outside the village of Chesterton, Warwickshire. It is a Grade I listed building and a striking landmark in South-East Warwickshire.
The windmill is one of Warwickshire's most famous landmarks. It stands on a hilltop overlooking the village of Chesterton for nearly 350 years. It is near the Roman Fosse Way and about five miles (8 km) south-east of Warwick. It was built around 1632-1633, probably by Sir Edward Peyto, who was Lord of the Chesterton Manor House. At this time John Stone, a pupil of Inigo Jones, was in Chesterton designing the new Manor House and he probably helped with the windmill as well. Sir Edward was a Mathematician and Astrologer and probably his own architect to the windmill, but although claims have been made that the tower was originally built as an observatory, the estate accounts now at Warwick Record Office show that it has always been a windmill, making it the earliest tower mill in England to retain any of its working parts.

Drive north. That was the extent of my plan, to drive north. As I did the windmills appeared off in the distance and I set my sights and lens on them. It was such a great, blue sky, fluffy cloud day that I knew before my first shot that I was going to be a clicking fool and I was. One of my favorite days thus far and another instance when choosing only one photo was nearly impossible.
One of the things I was most interested in seeing in California were the windmill farms. I saw this on my way to Palm Springs, so I had to pull over and explore. Whew, it was hot out there! Which is always wild when you can see the snow capped mountains in the background.

The Eastham Windmill is on the Village Green on Route 6. Tours are offered in the summer months the the Town of Eastham. The windmills was built in Plymouth in (or around) 1680 and eventually moved to Eastham in 1793.
The sails have been removed and where sitting on the ground nearby which is a shame as it's one of the very few if only windmills in such good condition on the island.

Many windmills have been restored and are open for visitors. Many of these are still working in grain grinding. Some are auxiliary-powered in slack wind.
With tax brakes for the operators becoming less favourable, more and more of the windmills are grinding to a halt, no longer adding 'green current' to the grid.
