I went to my parent's place for Thanksgiving. IT was the first time I was able to see their windmills.
A very familiar sight for many holidaymakers on their way to Blackpool - you always knew that you weren`t far from Blackpool once you`d passed the windmill !
The windmill was built in 1883 on the site of a previous mill and was last in operation in 1928. The mill was made a grade II listed building in 1983 and renovated in 1987 at a total cost of £ 88,000.

I came across this little Windmill on Sunday - well actually trawled through hedges, nettles & barb wire to get 'the shot'

Pitstone Windmill (HDR) in the evening sunshine on a cloudy and rainy day. One of the oldest windmills to have been built in Britain, dating back to the early 17th Century (1627). In case any of you are quite understandibly desperate to go and visit this local highlight, it can be found in a field, near Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire.

The wonderful Jill windmill which sits on top of Clayton Hill. It is a fully restored and working windmill on the Sussex Downs and is open most weekends. The lovely peeps will show you around the interior - you can go right up to the top and watch corn being ground! Recommend it for a great stroll with fabulous views too!
