I love the sound of wind chimes. In the summer I have several different chimes hanging near our patio and pool area. This one is especially neat because my best friend made it for us as a gift for our 25th wedding anniv. The 25th is the Silver anniversary, and she made this out of antique silver spoons and her beautiful bead work, with my favorite color - turqouise.
"You should build something like this in the backyard."
"I don't know how to write this language."
"Bamboo doesn't require translation."
The awards night went swimmingly last night, which is all good. I'm officially done with being a lad at the BB, but I'll still go 'til summer at least. My dad did the photography for the night, and I found myself wanting to jump in every five seconds, its a curse really. This is the windchime in my garden, I thought I might make it interesting by taking a photo from such a low angle. I quite like it.

I found these at the Sanya Tourist Shell Market.
I'll have to upload the rest later. Perhaps 1 per day, seeing how slow uploading in China is.
I made this yesterday. It was so much fun to make. I got the idea the other day when I fixed my windchimes that were falling apart. It's made with little bells, glass beads, twine and a stick from my yard. I plan to make more... cause I just love it.
I scraplifted this layout from one by Kayleigh titled “Today” featured in the Designer Digitals Gallery. Thank you for such beautiful inspiration! And thanks for looking.

Kylie and I got to play on our porch today. There are still frozen patches of snow on it but for the most part, the deck is clear. Kylie was most interested in playing with the wind chimes. But she couldn't quite reach them. She poked around in her outdoor toy box and came back with her trusty broom. She climbed back up and brushed the chimes with the bristles. After hitting and listening to the chimes several times, Kylie looked over at me and said, "This is how I say I love you in Chima". I asked, "China?" and she said, "No, Chima. Windchimes Mommy. This is how I say I love you in Chima.” How blessedly sweet is that?!
This is actually my brother with his hair in his face. Again, this one is grainy. Thats usually how my inside pictures turn out. =[ I need a good title, so any suggestions are cool. Thanks.

I took these photos as a challenge to myself for my new Challenge Yourself group (co-leader It's a Triumph, Nigel Jones). My intention was to take the whole piece but it just did not work out well to do that. So I settled on just the chime part. The intention also was to take a straight out of the camera shot, no editing. I admit, I adjusted the levels a bit. But otherwise, not.
I purchased these chimes here: www.kitengela-glass.com/, at their shop at Adams Arcade in Nairobi, nearly 8 years ago. I lived in Kenya for almost 20 years and these are a reminder of that amazing time everytime I walk out the door.
my dad had a bunch of pens and pencils on his work bench in the basement. most were sharpened without a pencil sharpener. i recently saw an image of vintage pencils made into a wind chime. though i dont think these would make enough noise to call them a wind chime, i thought it would be an interesting project for me and the brood.
