Der Grund warum ich in den letzen Jahren kaum Bilder hochlud ist, das ich mein Leben komplett umgekrempelt habe. Ich brachte noch vor gut 3 1/2 Jahren 105 kg auf die Waage. Bekam dann aber gesundheitliche Probleme, aufgrund meines Übergewichtes und habe dann mein Leben von einem Tag auf den anderen komplett umgekrempelt. Angefangen Kraft- und Ausdauertraining zu machen und meine Essgewohnheiten umgestellt. Mittlerweile sinds 40kg weniger und ich bereue nichts. Allerdings blieb dabei die Fotografie ziemlich auf der Strecke. Hab mir vorgenommen das im kommenden Jahr wieder etwas mehr zu betreiben.

The reason why I haven't uploaded any pictures in the last few years is that I've completely turned my life upside down. A good 3 1/2 years ago I weighed 105 kg. But then I got health problems because of my overweight and then from one day to the next I completely turned my life upside down. I started doing strength and endurance training and changed my eating habits. Now it's 40kg less and I have no regrets. However, photography fell by the wayside. I decided to do it a little more in the coming year.

ENG: To visit in neighboring Poland. Actually I wanted to visit the German / Polish fortress museum, but this was closed. So it was just a shopping trip in the Küstrin Mall.

GER: Zu besuch im Nachbarland Polen. Eigentlich wollte ich das Deutsch/Polnische Festungs Museum besuchen, aber dies war geschlossen. So wurde es halt eine Einkaufstour in der Küstrin Mall.

Next up in my series of twos. These two male cheetahs once were a coalition of 5 known as the Tano Bora. This was the biggest coalition of cheetahs ever recorded. The remaining two still hunt together. We saw them hunt and take down a baby impala. It was absolutely a dream to see them both together. We hadn't seen a lot of cheetahs on previous trips, but on this one we saw about 15 including cubs (crazy!!!).

The Malbork convent kitchen - in the first interior with a huge hood oyer the hearth, food was once prepared, and then transported by lift to the refectory on the second floor. Now, both this interior and the next room, which was probably a bakery in the old days, have been turned into an old convent kitchen equipped with pots and plates, and all sort of utensils from different historical periods. Dishes served on the tables of medieval Malbork reflected the power and prosperity of the Teutonic Knights' state. People ate there pork, beef, poultry, and game prepared in different styles. Fish was rated highly. A supplement of the main dishes was bread, barley, and rice. Among dairy products, mainly cheeses were consumed. Cream and milk played a minor role. The latter was replaced by an extract from almonds. Beers and meads were the basic drinks. It is known, that 19 brands of wine were brought to Malbork; most of them from the Rhine region, but there were also Hungarian, Greek, and Italian wines. The monks drank no less than 12 kinds of beer.

The Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork, the largest Gothic castle complex in the world, is a 13th-century Teutonic castle and fortress located near the town of Malbork on the river Nogat in Poland. It was originally constructed by the Teutonic Knights, a German Catholic religious order of crusaders, in a form of an Ordensburg fortress. The Order named it Marienburg in honour of Mary, mother of Jesus. In 1457, during the Thirteen Years’ War, it was sold by the Bohemian mercenaries to King Casimir IV of Poland in lieu of indemnities and it since served as one of the several Polish royal residences and the seat of Polish offices and institutions, interrupted by several years of Swedish occupation, and fulfilling this function until the First Partition of Poland in 1772. From then on the castle was under German rule for over 170 years until 1945. The castle is a classic example of a medieval fortress and, on its completion in 1406, was the world's largest brick castle. UNESCO designated the "Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork" and the Malbork Castle Museum a World Heritage Site in December 1997.

Kuchnia konwentu malborskiego - w pierwszym wnętrzu z wielkim okapem nakrywającym palenisko przygotowywano kiedyś potrawy, transportowane windą przy południowej ścianie na drugie piętro, do refektarza. Dziś, zarówno w tym, jak i w sąsiednim wnętrzu będącym najprawdopodobniej piekarnią, zaaranżowano dawną kuchnię klasztorną w oparciu o dostępne obiekty muzealne. Wnętrze zaaranżowano w ten sposób, by można było odnieść wrażenie, iż kucharz właśnie był odszedł od paleniska i garnków, by udać się do piwnicy po przyprawy i zioła. Zakonny charakter kuchni podkreśla zmieniająca się każdego dnia scenografia, zależna od kalendarza krzyżackiego regulującego porządek świąt i uroczystości, dni postnych, jak również okresów zwykłych. W zamku jadano wieprzowinę, wołowinę, drób, dziczyznę. Istotną rolę odgrywały ryby. Uzupełnieniem dań głównych było pieczywo, kasze i ryż. Z nabiału najwięcej spożywano jaj i serów. Mniejszą rolę odgrywała śmietana i mleko, te ostatnie najczęściej zastępował wyciąg z migdałów. Do podstawowych napojów należały piwa i miody. Wiadomo, że sprowadzano do Malborka 19 gatunków win, najwięcej reńskiego, ale było także węgierskie, greckie i włoskie. Bracia pijali nie mniej niż 12 gatunków piwa.

Zamek w Malborku – jeden z największych zamków na świecie, położony na prawym brzegu Nogatu, wzniesiony w kilku etapach od 1280 do poł. XV w. przez zakon krzyżacki. Początkowo konwentualna siedziba komtura, od 1309 po przeniesieniu przez Siegfrieda von Feuchtwangena stolicy zakonu do Malborka, siedziba wielkich mistrzów zakonu krzyżackiego i władz Prus Zakonnych do 1457, w latach 1457–1772 rezydencja królów Polski, od 1466 siedziba władz Prus Królewskich, od 1568 siedziba Komisji Morskiej, w 1772 zajęty przez administrację Królestwa Prus i zdewastowany w latach 1773–1804; rekonstruowany w latach 1817–1842 i 1882–1944, zniszczony w 1945, ponownie rekonstruowany od 1947; w 1949 wpisany do rejestru zabytków, w 1994 uznany za pomnik historii, w 1997 wpisany na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO jako jeden z najznakomitszych przykładów średniowiecznej architektury obronno-rezydencyjnej w Europie Środkowej. Od 1961 zamek jest siedzibą Muzeum Zamkowego w Malborku.

63191 Beverwijk Hoogovens - Maastricht Beatrixhaven

Nog altijd rijdt RFO de wekelijkse staaltrein tussen TATA Steel Beverwijk en de Maasterminal in de Beatrixhaven in Maastricht. Het is de vraag hoelang dit vervoer nog stand zal houden nu het Julianakanaal weer gevuld is en binnenvaart naar Maastricht weer mogelijk is; de stremming halverwege 2024 was de reden dat dit vervoer überhaupt tot stand is gekomen.

Vanwege de grootschalige werkzaamheden rondom Amsterdam maart/april 2025 moest de trein op 31 maart omrijden over de Oude Lijn en Brabantroute. Het is altijd leuk om goederentreinen te treffen op trajecten waar normaal nauwelijks cargo te zien is, voor mij al helemaal gezien ik al heel mijn leven aan de Oude Lijn woon.

RFO 2019 302, helaas in erg smerige toestand, kon op 31 maart worden vastgelegd nabij het gehucht Windas vlak boven Schiedam, met aan de haak 24 VTG huifwagens met staalcoils richting Maastricht.

The Old Adage turned out Correct as it Rained with High Winda most of the day.

The Mara has lost another legend. Winda, a 10-year-old member of the famous Tano Bora coalition, took his final breath on the morning of 15th March 2025. After breaking his leg, he was treated, but despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries six days later. At his age, the toll of pain proved too much to bear.

Winda’s story is one of resilience. As a part of Tano Bora, once the most formidable cheetah coalition in the Mara, he defied the odds for a decade, a rare feat for a male cheetah in the wild. He lived through battles, shifting alliances, and the loss of his brothers. Now, only one remains, Olonyok, the last of the five.

With Winda’s passing, an era ends. But his legacy, along with that of his coalition, will live on in the golden savannah plains of the Maasai Mara.

This was my last sighting of Winda and Olonyok who were on the prowl, captured on a Photography Safari on an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large cat of the subfamily Felinae that occurs in Southern, North and East Africa, and a few localities in Iran. Cheetahs inhabit a variety of habitats - dry forests, scrub forests, and savannahs. The species is IUCN Red Listed as vulnerable, as it suffered a substantial decline in its historic range in the 20th century due to habitat loss, poaching, illegal pet trade, and conflict with humans.

The original coalition of five cheetahs, Tano Mbora, has now dwindled down to two, known as the Mbora Mbili, is surviving in the harsh environment of the wild in Maasai Mara with every day bringing a new challenge.

The structure, inspired by derricks, was erected for Expo 92 international exhibition. It is a structural element (supporting tents over adjacent pier) as well as a tourist attraction (thanks to a 40-meter panoramic lift).
