Ciudad Encantada, Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, España.
La Ciudad Encantada es un paraje natural español de formaciones rocosas calcáreas o calizas formadas a lo largo de miles de años. Se localiza cerca de Valdecabras, en el término municipal de Cuenca (España), en una amplia zona de pinares de la parte meridional de la serranía conquense y a una altitud de 1500 metros.
Fue declarada Sitio Natural de Interés Nacional el 11 de junio de 1929. La acción del agua, el viento y el hielo ha hecho posible este fenómeno kárstico. La heterogeneidad de las rocas en cuanto a su morfología, composición química y grado de dureza es lo que ha permitido el desgaste desigual de las mismas por los elementos atmosféricos, dando como resultado una muestra sorprendente de arte pintoresco proveniente de la misma naturaleza. A las caprichosas y espectaculares formaciones existentes hay que sumar lapiaces, torcas y sumideros.
Comparte estas características especialmente con "Los Callejones", paraje ubicado en el término municipal de Las Majadas. Ambos lugares forman parte del parque natural Serranía de Cuenca, creado mediante la Ley de la Comunidad Autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha 5/2007.
The Enchanted City is a Spanish natural area of calcareous or limestone rock formations formed over thousands of years. It is located near Valdecabras, in the municipality of Cuenca (Spain), in a wide area of pine forests in the southern part of the Cuenca mountains and at an altitude of 1,500 meters.
It was declared a Natural Site of National Interest on June 11, 1929. The action of water, wind and ice has made this karstic phenomenon possible. The heterogeneity of the rocks in terms of their morphology, chemical composition and degree of hardness is what has allowed their uneven wear by atmospheric elements, resulting in a surprising sample of picturesque art from nature itself. To the whimsical and spectacular existing formations we must add lapiaces, torques and sinkholes.
It shares these characteristics especially with "Los Callejones", a place located in the municipality of Las Majadas. Both places are part of the Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park, created by the Law of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha 5/2007.

The Kia EV6 is a battery electric compact crossover SUV produced by Kia. Introduced in March 2021, it is the first Kia dedicated electric vehicle, and the first model developed on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) similar to the Hyundai Ioniq It is also the first model to be named under the new nomenclature designated for a line of Kia electric cars, which will range from EV1 to EV9. The EV6 is the 2022 European Car of the Year.
February of 2022, the EV6 was named Car of the Year, which is a first for the Kia brand. The award was given in Geneva, Switzerland

This really large kindfisher was sitting on a jetty and allowed me to walk onto the jetty itself before lifting off and seeking a safer place to rest. I liked the way the wind was blowing its little head tuft up.
Whilst the old steam winder is still in good order at the National Mining Museum at Caphouse Colliery, it was deemed unsuitable for winding visitors going underground. This hydraulic winder was erected to handle the work having been built by engineering company Needham Brothers & Brown Ltd of Barnsley, a firm with a long history of working for the coal industry. It has now been taken over by Qualter Hall & Co Ltd.

I decided to go down to Wreck Beach during the recent storm. It was amazingly cool, with the wind not just gusting to 90 kmh but blowing steadily at that speed. The noise through the trees was intense and the waves had pushed right up to the tree-line.
Made for a very dramatic sunset and I went home full of energy and sandblasted from all the salt and spray!

Our first morning in Cromwell. We woke to heavy fog which took a while to lift. This shot is in Bannockburn on our way to have a lunch at Carrick Winery looking over Lake Dunstan.
Bannockburn is a small historic gold mining town located outside of Cromwell in Central Otago, New Zealand.
The area was first made known as a rich alluvial gold field and was mined extensively in the 1860s.
Its uniquely warm, dry climate earned it the name 'The heart of the desert', as climatic conditions and human activity have combined to strip the area of most of the original native vegetation leaving rocks, sands and soils exposed. Today, these climate conditions make Bannockburn the home of many vineyards and stonefruit orchards.
Wine in this region, like the majority of Central Otago, focuses primarily on Pinot noir, suited to the dry climate and soils. The climate of Bannockburn epitomizes that of the Central Otago wine region and claims some of the highest temperatures and lowest rainfall in the area. The area is limited by geographical constraints to relatively small outputs, and most of the vineyards boast a boutique high quality wine with typically small volumes of grapes.

There's something I really love about wind, which is funny because I used to hate it entirely.
Growing up in a valley in Alaska, we had very aggressive gusts of winter wind, and it would keep me up at night thinking our house would blow over.
Then I grew up and started to see wind as something like a testament to how small and weak I am. Wind is so innately strong and huge and powerful, and somehow I started to see that as a good thing.
Now, wind reminds me of how little control I can attain over my own life as well as all circumstances, which is more freeing than scary. Gotta love wind.
