this wild teasel was growing along the river Leine, south of Hannover. Apart from the fact that I love this so perfect looking plant, I have also used it! In my education time as a weaver( which I learned in Finland) we used these teasels to raise the nap of wool fabrics! It is softer for the wool than any metal comb as the teasels hairs will break before the wool is breaking..
Although the weather didn't really cooperate during the days while on vacation, we had a few crystal clear evenings that were perfect for shooting the stars. After taking some shots of the Milky Way and of the Big Dipper, I took a walk to a neighbouring camp's boat launch that overlooked Wakomata Lake. Most surprising was the bizarre results after a 30 second exposure. To the naked eye, the horizon was definitely brighter, but the camera picked up some crazy colours that I'm not exactly sure what caused them. My first thought was city lights, since Chapleau is in the general direction, but Chapleu is pretty far away. Whatever it is, I think it looks pretty wild and resulted in something totally unexpected.

After chasing the horses away, everything was cool. When the horses walked faster or slower, I did the same thing. And when the horses stopped, then took the pictures.

Kevin and I take an au natural approach to our yard. One benefit, we have discovered, is that wild raspberries thrive under our care or lack thereof. Kevin has sacrificed a great deal of sweat and a hefty portion of blood (skeeters galore) this year to bring in pail after pail of these delightful treats. So tasty!

There are a number of Wild European Rabbits in Calgary, and this is just one of them. Seen on 23 July 2014, when I went on a botany walk at the Erlton/Roxboro Natural Area. Right next to this area is a Cemetery - funny, I do tend to see Rabbits in cemeteries, either these Wild European Rabbits, which come in all sorts of colours, or the White-tailed Jackrabbits.
The town of Canmore, near Banff, in Banff National Park, has had a problem with these Wild European Rabbits. They attract Coyotes and other wildlife into the town. They were going to do something about this problem, but I don't know if they ever did.
