I have always wanted to see if the 24mm fisheye lens from the Mamiya 645 would work on the Xpan. I found a lens at a good price on Ebay and bought it just for this purpose. I also bought Mamiya 645 to Nikon and Nikon to Xpan adapters. When the lens came I checked the circle of coverage on ground glass of my view camera to confirm that the lens would cover the Xpan format. It does, barely... When I mounted the lens on the camera, I found that there was a significant amount of vignetting caused by the light baffles and the Nikon to Nikon lens mount in-between the two adapters as well as the internal light baffles on the camera. An afternoon spent in the workshop, and I removed the baffles and mounts from the adapters, and mated them together permanently, this helped tremendously, though there is still a bit of vignetting from the camera's internal baffle, perhaps 1/2 cm on each side. The Mamiya mount is just to far forward for the lens to avoid the camera's baffles. I have shot comparison images from the 45mm, the 35mm PC Nikkor (my go-to lens for this camera) and the 24mm. I should have the up shortly...
Standing majestically on the banks of River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is synonymous to love and romance. The name "Taj Mahal" was derived from the name of Shah Jahan's wife, Mumtaz Mahal, and means "Crown Palace". The purity of the white marble, the exquisite ornamentation, precious gemstones used and its picturesque location, all make a visit to the Taj Mahal gain a place amongst the most sought-after tours in the world. However, until you know the love story behind the construction of the Taj Mahal, the beauty of the same would not enliven in your heart and mind and instead would come up as just another beautiful building/monument. It is the love behind this outstanding monument that has given a life to this monument. Come and explore the visceral charisma that it emanates
At the brink of dawn when the first rays of the sun hits the dome of this epic monument, it radiates like a heavenly abode, cloaked in bright golden. And then at dusk, basking in the glory of moon, it shines like a perfectly carved diamond; appearing as if straight out of some magical tale, leaving the viewers awestruck by its sense of grandeur. Nothing short of an architectural marvel, no wonder it stands proud at being one of the Seven Wonders of the World. And the rich beauty of this visual spectacle turns visceral when one hears the story behind it. The story of Taj Mahal!
Taj Mahal, "the epitome of love", is "a monument of immeasurable beauty". The beauty of this magnificent monument is such that it is beyond the scope of words. The thoughts that come into the mind while watching the Taj Mahal of Agra is not just its phenomenal beauty, but the immense love which was the reason behind its construction. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan got this monument constructed in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, with whom he fell in love at the first sight. Ironically, the very first sight of the Taj Mahal, the epitome of love and romance, also leaves visitors mesmerized and perpetually enthralled.
Take from Dantes View overlooking Badwater Basin in Death Valley NP. I really wanted this to work out in color, but a mistake in processing gave the image a color cast that I could not get rid of.

NOTE: This image was ruined as a color image by a simple mistake in processing. I forgot to rinse the Jobo lift between the 1st developer and the color developer. This very slight contamination of the color developer caused by residue resulted in a color shift.
Tinted windows. Rusted, white top, Beautiful red-orange color. There's so much to love and so much to restore on this beauty. I don't even know what to say. It's interesting that the man to the right barely pays attention to it.
I accidentally shot a roll of film twice on my recent vacation to England and Scotland. I have posted some pictures from that roll. This image is result of combining several sections of that film together into a photocollage using digital editing techniques. Some of the overlaying images were in-camera and some were overlaid using Photoshop.

Couldn't figure out if this was a shadow or if it was just a natural stream of dark cloud. It eventually headed east.
Sitting inside a coffee shop, looking out at the world before the final day of a street party makes me miss this neighborhood oh so much.

I never knew this place existed until I accidentally drove the wrong way looking for a shortcut through the South Loop. But this is beautiful and seeing it from the river was a great experience.
From Wikipedia: River City is a mixed-use building at 800 South Wells Street in Chicago, Illinois. It was designed by Bertrand Goldberg, to whose Marina City it bears clear affinities, and was completed in 1986. The S-shaped structure located in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago alongside the Chicago River houses a 70 slip marina, indoor parking, commercial space, apartments (later converted to condominiums), and even a preschool.

These two memories have little to do with one another but has merged on my consciousness today. We visited this park to take part of an MLK celebration and found this plane instead.
