Two colours is all you need.

The tree is not really that red, but its illumination comes from a very old sodium vapour light in an old, dirty, and discoloured shell. Other than a slight increase in contrast by bumping both the whitepoint and blackpoint in ACD (which did increase saturation somewhat), this is straight out of camera.

Visit to the White Point Nature Preserve in San Pedro, California on Saturday October 24, 2015. This is part of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. I will identify the wildlife and birds I got pictures of as well. Also see the former Nike Missile launch pads from the Cold War.

QuickView:

One from last week on the 25th August and the number are slightly up overall with 90 moths for 29 species, a good selection of the late summer species including one new one for the garden with a couple of White Point moths. A little surprised it has taken so long for this species to turn up, seems fairly common being recorded quite regularly elsewhere locally. Still getting the odd single Buff Ermine.

You can see more of my moth images on my main website HM Wildlife Photography - Garden Moths or my other flickr account HM Wildlife
