I like the feeling and the sound of the "whisp" in whispers - and this image sounds something like that, - when it's whispered.
Spent a lovely morning with my photo pal Mootzie Mac and introduced her to Rattray Head lighthouse. Good day for the polarising filter!

Miss Barbie sitting comfortably. Oh dear there are some whisps of petticoat peeking out from under the skirt of her lovely dress. I don't think she knows, but then at least one of her fans loves to see a little petticoat.

Cá entre nós, também acho!='D

The last picture from my session last Friday evening. It was getting later, the light was starting to go but I wanted to get one last picture. There's a walk way at the end of Denham Street that a few others have used in the past and I was keen to use it as a background because, under exposed in low light, it looked rather otherworldly. I waited for quite a while, and just as I was beginning to think that I was going to have to pack it in I saw Ellie walking towards me. She was happy to work with me thankfully so I whipped out the reflector and we got to work. She was very apologetic about the whisps of hair floating around but there wasn't much we could do because it was windy, and I quite like the effect.
She works at a theatre near by. She'd spent a lot of time in Grahamstown in South Africa, where my mother lived as a child, and where my wife used to spend a lot of time at the annual festival which is a bit like SA's version of the Edinburgh Festival so good common ground.
So what started out as a difficult stranger shooting session with three people in a row not wishing to play ended up as an awesome session with more than a few wonderful encounters. I headed home with a spring in my step reminded once again that perseverance pays off.

Get Pushed!! Round 3 challenge from Gail (Mmmm KD) was "...to capture a smoke shot".
Not a challenge to take lightly. One of the most difficult parts of shooting smoke is getting it in focus. Not to mention getting smoke to exist. My latest attempt to get smoke was in the BBQ grill using mesquite chips that are used to create smoke I figured they would work well. Nope. With the lid off they wanted to flare up and burn clean in a few seconds. I had to continually squirt them with water to prevent them from drying rapidly and flaring up. Focus was the next battle with it. Hard to get a good contrast background so I zoomed in on the source instead.... meh.
I also included a previous shot I did in Our Daily Challenge for smoke. Used a cigar for the smoke source in a blacked out room and a pocket flashlight to illuminate the smoke.
Thanks Gail for making me stop and think my way through a shot. It was a great drill with my still new to me camera. Always settings and such to work through for those special situations.
