Canvas board for the week 34 class. I omitted the supporting animal as I feel I need to stand on my own two feet. I added metal charms to the tree to represent things that are meaningful in my life. The three balloons say 'just let go' which is a message I need to hear particularly in relation to forgiveness.

Emotions that are connected with this picture run very deep and personal. A personal journey that ended with a sense of accomplishment, physical and mental. At the time this was shot I was to excited to consider many design principals. My main concern was light and focus. If I get a chance to return to shoot this again I would take a totally different approach. I would study it, find the "essence" of it, rather that run from one rock to another trying to catch that one awesome picture before the sun got to high in the sky. I keep a copy of this on my desk at work. When things get crazy I take a mental break and go back to that great adventure.
STEAM Week at Washtenaw Community College kicked off Monday, Feb. 3 with keynote addresses by Vice President for Instruction Dr. Kimberly Hurns, WCC alumna and entrepreneur Aisha Bowe followed by a career carousel and STEAM scavenger hunt, and an engineering and construction partner challenge.
A good ending to a good year. This photo was taken as I walked to my interview for a job I didn't think I'd get, but did. Started today! Yay!
Annual Science Week is a week long celebration of science held in August each year. Check out the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery centre's web page and facebook for all of the activities happening in the region and especially what is going on in the centre. Making science FUN!

WIT: You have to read the note to get how this pic is wacky. I was just in the right neck of the woods that day to see these big fellas. This guy was quite high up in an old cottonwood. I cropped and colour-boosted (although the sky really was this blue)

A little bit late with my week one painting for various reasons. I signed up late and then worked slowly. Acrylic on canvas sheet, with some used international postage and a bit of a late eighties National Geographic map added for good measure. Oh, and it is a bit overexposed here. February in Vermont makes for less than stellar indoor photography conditions. Had to use the scanner.
Cadillac Man, author of the unforgettable memoir of homeless life, "Land of the Lost Souls," spoke to the University of Hartford community on April 8, 2015. He spent 13 years living on the streets of New York City, and is a recognized expert on homeless issues. He spoke during Homelessness Awareness Week, sponsored by Sociology (Hillyer College) and Project Horizon (Institute for Translational Research, College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions).
