Mi espiritu olimpico es... casi nulo, así que para no saltar el tema esto fue lo que se me ocurrió

***

My Olympic spirit is ... almost zero, so to not skip the topic that was what I came up with.

Semana 32: Espiritu olimpico / Week 32: Olympic Spirit

Gluttony, of course..

Especially when I'm in Italy on holiday,

I step into a gelateria at least once every day

and order a huge ice cream...

'Blockhead Sculpture' and 'Daddies Bighead’ are inflatable sculptures. ‘Daddies Bighead’ is based on a ketchup bottle. Ketchup is a pivotal motif through all of McCarthy's work. He uses ketchup in his performances and installations along with mayonnaise and chocolate as stand-ins for bodily fluids and excretions. These grocery staples of domestic family life are transformed in McCarthy, born 1945, represent a Western World of violence, perverted sex and defecation to show the shallowness and duplicity of our image of happiness based on the all-pervasive Western media entertainment and consumer constructed conventions. His work distorts and mutates the familiar into the disturbing and carnivalesque.

McCarthy first became known in the 1970s for his visceral performances and film works but during the 1990s he extended his practice into stand alone sculptural figures, installations and a series of large inflatable sculptures.

‘Blockhead’ is based on the character of Pinocchio, but this popular Disney children's character is mutated into a grotesque form. Its size physically overpowers the viewer, putting the adult at a child’s level, questioning conventional Western World fake constructions.

The big, somewhat hilarious sculpture, big balloon 'Daddies Bighead', can be seen as a visualization of maleness. Disney Pinocchio character’s innocence is replaced by masses of pink with female breasts and male phalluses. It could easily by the symbol of the general male surfing for his daily dose of porn. It’s an attack on the sugary unrealistic world Disney and other generally accepted mass media represent and which we widely accept.

McCarthy uses gory representations of sexuality to question Western World fake, romanticized view of itself. These works may seem innocent at a first glance, but when you add them to his other works, his messages just may sink in.

In this set I have borrowed ideas, sentences and whole paragraphs from the following websites:

It has been very cold but today it was really, really cold and whilst golfing into gale force winds I kept wishing that I was back in beautiful sunny Sarasota ~ my wife and I should never have sold our Florida home but hey ho we'll be back!!

7 Days of Shooting Week #32 All Your Heart Desires Colourful Thursday ....

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

Well this week's theme suited me down to the ground! I chose my vintage Jack in the Box in the end. He always makes me smile!

I believe this flower display is planted round part of the old toll barrier which gives its name to Toll Bar Farm behind and nearby Tollbar Close in the village of Oxspring in Yorkshire. I do pass this on my way home but I actually took the photo in the morning as the light was better!

for 7DoS: I'm trying to avoid just using shots of my favourite wall this week, so when I spotted the top of this barrel when out walking today, I thought it could mean me putting off the wall for a day at least ;)

I guess using this as an ashtray is better than the ground, where most of the stubs end up :(

#52Project2016 # Week 32 #Shoes #Lightbox

We've really enjoyed watching the Olympics over the last couple weeks. Although I have to say, I'm glad they now break up the winter and summer games. To repeat this fervor again this year would be overwhelming!

This weeks theme made me try out the in camera multiple exposure setting. Never used it before and to be honest, I probably wont again............ until I practice some more. Decided to rely on a post processing technique that I have used before. This is my youngest daughter (again, I know, but always the willing model and always keen to water Nan and Grandads garden too). Camera mounted on a tripod, 3 images taken, a quick tinker on the old computer and hey presto, one final image made up from 3 separate ones to deliver this weeks theme. Phew......... Had a few other ideas for this technique which I will get round to shooting one of these days. Have a good week everyone!!!

The Flickr Lounge group has chosen Black & White for the Week 32 weekend theme.

DJing at Soul Skool tonight.

Yes, indeed I should not have neglected my little garden Buddha ~ must give him a good old clean before we move as I believe he's going to be staying here!!

I want to apologise for the lack of my being able to comment over the past weeks and this may continue for the next three weeks ~ we are moving home and have been very busy organising everything ... busy times!! However, when I get a moment I will do my best to comment

#Shoot52, Week32 Lit with Lume Cube Air

This was Matty's first time in a real swing. He loved it!

Some people like to skip the pre-season games since they don't count for anything. But by the time pre-season rolls around I have such football withdrawl that it doesn't matter to me. Any trip up to Lambeau is a good time, and this was a great game to watch as the Packers won 59-24.

Thanks Joe for letting me borrow your 200mm. Despite the fact that I didn't get a ton of great shots, I was definitely better off than without it.

inspired by the ever wonderful tamelyn.

my bathroom wall isn't pink, and as far as i know she's never used a cat mask, but this was certainly inspired by her style of 365.

Dr. Seuss - Photos in some way inspired by Dr. Seuss

This one was just for fun. I rushed through it to get it done tonight so I'm not super happy with his feet, but it'll do. He wasn't really cooperative so it wasn't the easiest shoot I've done.

She's true, like ice, like fire.

--Bob Dylan.

I've decided i want to spend some time taking simpler pictures--a little less post-processing (a little, mind you!), a little more time trying to figure out how my camera actually works; experimenting with different settings, maybe even shooting in RAW. There's so much to learn from so many of my awesome contacts. I want to work with light and shadow more (a la Matt, Jenna, and Charlie), do more closeups (a la Becca and Nicole), and improve on my use of B&W (a la pretty much everyone).

So for starters, i realize this is hardly sooc, but it's pretty un-messed with for me!

For The Rogue Players (rays of sunlight). Not really rays i know, but...

Also, i've been enjoying everyone's random facts lately, so i thought maybe i'd play too. Not all the time, just whenever i think of something particularly random. So here goes:

Today's Random Fact-- i really like milk. i drink several glasses of 1% or nonfat milk a day. And for some reason, i call it 'moze.' Mmm...moze.

How fortunate, a butterfly shirt during buggy month!

Sneezy getting maximum exposure to the Winter Sun. Bain de soleil en hiver. We raised Sneezy from an egg - Sebrights are notorious for having low hatching rates and from 65 eggs (swapped for a bottle of Vodka) we got ten chicks. We lost nearly all of them to predators - they are so obvious around the garden, so I had put them in a run - the falcon bent back the wires and got most of them. The one I always worried about - because she sneezed constantly was Sneezy, who is now eight and has to be kept separated from all the other poultry because she picks fights. Seen here in unusually quiet-mode she is probably planning a raid on the neighbours' cat, who actually runs away from her - she can fit in the palm of my hand!

One of the very kitsch, very worn and weathered yellow fur-fabric chairs left by the previous owner of the house!

Taken for "7 Days of Shooting" "Week#32" "Yellow" "Worn and Weathered Wednesday"

I was in Vancouver this weekend and on my way home I stopped at Othello Tunnels, this is the picture of the week winner. A peaceful path on the way to the tunnels.

Could this 9 day old filly be the next Olympic show jumping horse? Who knows - but she sure has a lot of spirit! She was born during the games of the 30th Olympiad and she's got a few more years to go before she'll be ready to start jumping fences, but both her parents are award-winning show jumpers, so the pedigree is there!

I was late getting this taken and am even later getting it posted to the group. I just wasn't feeling well that week, and wasn't up to dragging out the tripod, remote and speedlight and attempting a selfie. So I finally managed to close in on a cat in lamp light.

Jekyll is 16 years old and suffers from arthritis. He is a large cat, and weighs in at 16 pounds. He and 2 littermates were dumped and found by a friend when they were only 3 weeks old. I bottle raised him and his litter mates, so he is my "child." (His litter mates found other homes.) He's a very sweet cat, and I love him dearly. I don't know how much longer I'll have him so I am savoring every day.

I apologize for my lack of participation lately. I have chronic fatigue syndrome, and have been experiencing extra low energy lately. It just doesn't leave me much energy to be creative or spend time on Flickr. And after doing two 365's back-to-back, I think I just need to step back for awhile. I love the 52 Weeks group and will stay as involved as I can. I hope to catch up on the commenting soon. :-)

52 Weeks of 2015 - Week 32 - Theme: Low Key Portrait - Category: Portrait

On the road I often don't carry my camera with me, because it prevents me from taking other stuff with me - like a good heavy book to read on the bus. That's why this time I went all modern and social media-ish and took out my smartphone to get this snapshot =)

For 52 Weeks of 2017 group

Week #32

Theme: Silhouette

Lesson learned with this week's challenge: silhouetting a yellow object against a yellow background is maybe not the best choice.

This curvy golf tee was my dad's, though how often he used it I'm not sure, as in my memory the only golfing he did was very very rarely hitting a bucket of balls at the driving range. I've been carrying this around in my purse since my brother gave it to me, a souvenir of a different time, of a father who's been gone almost 16 years.

Taken for CC challenge this week

📷 Week 32 The ‘Eyes’ have it

Trying to catch the eyes as the main point of the image and tied to get creative by using the reflection in the back of the camera then making it monochrome.

Travelling this week so I have no access to my post-processing tools. This is SOOC using the in-camera HDR function on my Canon 80D.

HDR is the technique of combining several photos of the same scene but shot at different exposures to create an image with a High Dynamic Range.

It is always nice to stand at the seaside and smell that lovely fresh air .... lots of "liquid" out there!!
