its final resting place will not be on this dresser. the lamp has tall skinny legs. the dresser has tall skinny legs. as a short, stubby man, this offends me. i'm going to get a nice, round, squat lamp to balance out the dresser's silhouette.
The first polaroid is a sample of a picture by Weegee, we went to see the exhibition in Paris on Sunday. It was awesome. The second was taken on my way back. The two of them seem to reenact two types of old films that I like: the Hollywood noir and The Italian cinema.

Notes: Edward Steichen had been the chief judge and later the picture editor of the U.S. Camera Annual since its founding in 1937. In 1947 he resigned that position when he joined the Museum of Modern Art as Curator of Photographs. This was the first issue without his input. The annual pens with an article called "The Battle With The Slums" about the rediscovery of the early documentary work of Jacob A. Riis, then the subject f an exhibition at The Museum of the City of New York. The annual also contained photographs by Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Cecil Beaton, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Imogen Cunningham, Irving Penn, Weegee, and a long list of other working photographers of the day.

A street dog at midnight on the streets of Delhi, India. Photo inspired by Daido Moriyama. This dog followed me throughout my night adventure and kept other scary street dogs at bay. At the end of my night adventure, it left me at the same spot where it had started accompanying me. I was mesmerized that this dog took it upon itself to be my guardian. I thanked the dog and pet its head and took this photo before parting ways. This is a scan of my silver-gelatin darkroom test print.
This was a cold rainy day along the south pacific coast.

The song, published in 1920, tells of the national obsession with the ouija board. On the cover a young couple place their hands on a planchette. The lyrics begin, "There is a game played by nearly ev'ry family Seems to be the thing Rich folks poor folks play this little game to see what future days may bring".
I have posted a photograph with one of our vintage ouija boards. Once this sheet music is framed it will hang in the open spot on the left of that photograph.

We have wanted to take a family portrait for awhile and Jodi thought it would be nice to have a high key set. So following Jodi's desires we got together this Sunday, had a wonderful lunch, and took some high key shots of the family. Jodi will be posting the individual ones because she took them and it was her idea but I get the group because I took them, they are on my card and, well, because she is asleep. and I'm the boss when she is asleep. (She told me I could say that.)

On the most torrid summer days, someone's father would open the fire hydrant to cool off our street. After awhile, probably because of water pressure problems, the police would come by to put a shower head on the hydrant. How enlightened! This photo captures the fun.

My neighbor works long hours and his cat Weegee gets very lonely... Please consider adopting him. He is beautiful, very affectionate, but needs a lot of attention. He is one of those cats that make figure eight around your legs, follows you everywhere and is generally very intense. I would love to take him but already have 4 cats....
