"The Spectacle of the News" is part of a larger exhibition of the work of photographer Arthur Fellig, better known as "Weegee" at the International Center of Photography on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in NYC. This part of the exhibition focuses on his nighttime photos of crime scenes, car accidents, and fires, where the onlookers are as important as the events themselves. His photographs illustrated how people can't keep from looking at disturbing and horrifying scenes depicting death and injury.
Weegee's photographs in this exhibition were made in the 1930's and 1940's, illustrating that even with the passing of time, we haven't changed much as human beings in terms of our inability to look away from horrific scenes.

For the challenge ...I am no photo-journalist but I enjoy exploring and this place (Brick Lane) was one of my Best photographic moments ...I would have used more BW but the works would have suffered from a loss of colour
In 1924, Kleenex was invented as a convenient way to remove cold cream. Its aggressive advertising campaigns warned people to not put a cold in their pocket in the form of a snotty handkerchief, and use disposable tissue instead.

This photographic advice is attributed to Weegee, otherwise known as Arthur Fellig, a renowned photojournalist of the mid-20th Century. Well, hopefully this young lady had her camera set at f/8 and she certainly was there all right. Lucky for me!
