Uploaded for new website portfolio.
I decided today to tweak my website. I've been wanting it all sleak and flash galleried for ages, but I just can't afford to pay someone to do it. ahhh!
I've been making my own website/myspace etc for the last 3 years at least, and I think I do an ok job of it.
In the absence of expensive snazzy flash business I thought I'd just use the slideshow capabilities of Flickr, so these few pics I've just uploaded are for that purpose.
If anyone's interested at taking a look the addy is www.marianneharris.co.uk but if you're at all familiar with my work or visit my Flickr there probably won't be a lot there that you haven't seen before. I'm still sorting the contact and links pages, and hopefully will come up with something better. We'll see!
If anyone's got any brilliant ideas let's have em!

Is the capital of the province of Flemish Brabant in the Flemish Region, Belgium. It is located about 30 kilometers east of Brussels, with as other neighbouring cities Mechelen, Aarschot, Tienen, and Wavre.
The township comprises the historical city of Leuven and the former municipalities of Heverlee, Kessel-Lo, a part of Korbeek-Lo, Wilsele and Wijgmaal.
It is home to Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer group and one of the top five largest consumer goods companies in the world; and to the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the largest and oldest university of the Low Countries and the oldest Catholic university still in existence.
History
The earliest mention of Leuven ("Loven") is from 891 when a Viking army was defeated by the Frankish king Arnulf of Carinthia (see: Battle of Leuven). According to the city legend, its red-white-red colours depict the blood-stained shores of the river Dijle after this battle.
Situated at this river and nearby the stronghold of the Dukes of Brabant, Leuven became the most important centre of trade in the duchy between the 11th and the 14th century. A token of its former importance as a centre of cloth manufacture, is nicely reflected in the typical Leuven linen cloth, known in late 14-15th century texts as lewyn (other spellings: Leuwyn, Levyne, Lewan(e), Lovanium, Louvain).
In the 15th century a new golden era began with the founding of the by now largest and oldest university in the Low Countries, the Catholic University of Leuven, in 1425.
In the 18th century Leuven became even more important as a result of the flourishing of the brewery now named AB InBev, and whose flagship beer, Stella Artois, is brewed in Leuven.
In the 20th century, both world wars inflicted major damage to the city. Upon German entry in World War I, the town was heavily damaged due to German Schrecklichkeit policy. The Germans shot the burgomaster, university rector and all the city's police officers. The university library was deliberately destroyed by the German army on August 25, 1914, using petrol and incendiary pastilles. Hundreds of thousands of irreplaceable volumes and Gothic and Renaissance manuscripts were lost. The world was outraged over this and the library was completely rebuilt after World War I with American charity funds and German war indemnities. After World War II, the burnt down building had to be restored again. It still stands as a symbol of the wars and of Allied solidarity.

Welcome back to the This-Old-Jeep.com Website Find section. Its getting pretty close to spring and spring for me means getting outside and hopefully out into the woods and ideally in a jeep! So today I bring to you a few vintage photographic finds online at the The New York State Forest Ranger site- www.nysforestrangers.com/ Its a website created by a retired New York State Forest Ranger and dedicated to telling their history and something of their mission which since 1885 has been to serve and protect the enormous amount of woodland and forest in NYS. Having grown up in NY right next to the Adirondack State Park I’ve had a few interactions with the Rangers and they’ve all been positive. I’ve looked up to these men who are expected to patrol their area (or ANY area in New York) at any time of the day and in any weather on foot, bike, ATV, ski, snowshoe, plane and at one point, in this specially modified CJ2-A. I’ve never seen anything quite like this full wrap around brush guard, but it must have served its purpose as a defense against underbrush and boulder traversing a wide swath of uninhabited NYS forest. The Adirondacks, to me are as impressive as any mountains in the world and the sheer variety of things to do are really varied. Today only 134 Rangers are sworn in as gun toting law enforcement to cover primarily the Adirondack and Catskill State Parks, but they cover a total of 18.6 million acres of forested public and private land. They serve as law enforcement, first responders, rescuers and fire fighters (in fact they were first known as Fire Wardens). You can visit the official site here- www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/41086.html, but the unofficial site that we are concerned with today is chock full of history and information. My hat is off to you guys! Check out the full sized photos in the album here- www.this-old-jeep.com/These_Old_Jeep_Website_Finds/Pages/...
I’ve been busy lately with prepping and updating a few big portions of This-Old-Jeep.com including the Dealer item section. Next week I plan on beginning adding a new and large treasure trove of dealer brochures that I’ve come across. I’m also working on the research for an article that was spurred on by a request for any info that I received from a reader. Hopefully that should be finished in the next couple of weeks. Come back next week for more!

East window of the north chapel by Margaret Aldrich Rope 1933, a more refined version of the subjects and composition she used for her much bolder east window at St John's in Coventry. For more on the artist see the below website:-
www.arthur.rope.clara.net/torworks.htm#Here
Hereford's most impressive church after its cathedral is the parish church of All Saint's, a grand 13th/14th century building with a tapering north west steeple, the tallest structure in the city since the cathedral's wooden spire was removed in the 17th century.
All Saints rewards the visitor with its internal fittings, principally the superb 14th century canopied choir stalls (a range of five on each side of the chancel) complete with finely carved and amusing misericords (further examples can be found in the north chapel).
There is further impressive woodwork from the 17th century in the pulpit and the large reredos in the south chapel (probably moved here from the main altar). The east wall of the chancel also bears a faded medieval mural of the Virgin Mary, apparently part of an Annunciation scene.
The church also boasts a fine set of six stained glass windows by the noted late Arts & Crafts artist Margaret Aldrich Rope dating from the 1930s onwards, including the main east windows of the chancel and chapels.
The church is one of the most accessible of city churches since it was part converted in the late 20th century to community use with a cafe at the west end of the nave with space for craft stalls in the south chapel. The fayre is good and means a wider range of people experience the beauty within the building than would in a normal city church, consequently All Saints is never short of visitors.

IMATGES I VITRALLS

I would like to post a new cross-platform viral that uses both video and sms.
if you log onto www.matant.eu/fun
you can make a cool joke to your friends and relatives.
this is how it works: you enter your friends phone number ( it will not be held into any database). your friend will receive a link to a website where a news network is transmitting something very weird. The news of the day talks aboit a new virus that infects mobile phones. An exlusive interview with the hacker who claims to be the one who invented this virus takes place. Strangely enough, the hacker demonstrates how he can destroy a mobile phone anywhere in the world, and starts spelling out loud your friends phone number. A soon as the connection with the news drops, your friend will receive a real text message saying that his phone has been "hackerized" and he will lose all his data.
But don't worry....it's all fake... :)
The viral joke is completely free of charge and i you do the joke to your friend, you will receive a free licence to use the software that is sponsoring the viral.
Have Fun
