From the launch of Your Community Your Health, a new health information service at Muirhouse Library.
The project, which aims to provide local people with easily accessible information in relation to their health and wellbeing, will be accessed via a web-based system with face-to-face support from trained staff at health information points in local communities. These will be set up initially in three community venues: Muirhouse Library, Pilton Community Health Project and Craigroyston Health Centre. The project is a unique initiative delivered in partnership by NHS Lothian, Pilton Community Health Project and Edinburgh City Libraries.
Councillor Deidre Brock, Culture and Leisure Convener for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “Libraries are increasingly becoming real community hubs, connecting local people to a mine of useful information about their area. These health information points will be a hugely valuable tool for people to find out about the services available to them.”

Artist Takuji Kogo, who has never visited Silicon Valley, created a simulated fly-over of San Jose using photographs he found on the Internet. Overlaying this “film” is a story, of sorts, told by a woman, about her love life. The combined elements—from the intentionally lackluster view of downtown, to the Muzak soundtrack, and the story of troubled romance—raise the question, “Is this creepy or cute?” For Kogo, who works primarily with technology and the Internet, A Song for Silicon Valley is both a paean to the almost mythological source from which his art is forged and a satirical query into what the region’s power and wealth have wrought. Much like Tamiko Thiel, with her Travels of Mariko Horo, also in this gallery, Kogo is a traveler from the East constructing an image of the West that is at once real and virtual, true and imaginary.

Through the use of triggered word simulations, loosely scripted narratives and reenactments of seminal performative artworks, being aware of the chat rooms intentions and realities will be a challenging experience of groundlessness.
