This musical phenomenon comes to Theatr Clwyd for the first time thanks to Tip Top Productions.

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on Old Possum’s Book Of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. “Prologue – Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats” additional material written by Trevor Nunn and Richard Stilgoe; ”Memory” additional material written by Trevor Nunn.

The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year—the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories to Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life. Among the candidates are the aging theatre cat, Gus; the rocker, Rum Tum Tugger; and the once-glamorous Grizabella, now but a faded memory of her former self.

Boasting a score that includes Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats, Mr. Mistoffelees and Memory, this compelling fable takes audiences to a fantastical world that can only exist in the theatre. Cats has been performed worldwide and translated into over 20 languages. The original West End production ran for 21 years and the original Broadway production ran for 18 years

The client required a new web based product which would run on a touch screen kiosk. It would remove the need for a certified fitness trainer and would contain all of the exercises in textual, video and static image formats. Kiosks would be sold to clients such as large corporations to increase fitness and well being levels while reducing sickness levels. The kiosk connects to the internet for any updates automatically ensuring all kiosks are up to date at all times. Individual users have their own logins to allow them to track their own workouts and training schedules. the system also allows access from any browser through a web site so users can gain access either from home or where there is another kiosk such as in a hotel.

Our good friends at Tak! Design have just created a fantastic new web based media gallery for my school. It's called Tallis Shorts . It enables visitors to the site to upload audio and video which are converted on the fly into Flash presentations. Each piece of media is tagged with up to three cross-curricular themes and assigned to a department in school. Links between media are represented by coloured lines which are "drawn" on the homepage at the click of the mouse. We hope it will encourage staff and students to use video and audio as part of their creative tool kit in the classroom and outside school. It certainly looks a whole lot better than YouTube and, judging by the number of items already posted to the site (over 70 in two weeks!), members of the school community have already found it very useful.

Before the age of computers, tablets and smartphones, police stations would retain a range of publications including law guides and police manuals.

The Manchester City Police produced a force instruction book, which contained everything officers needed to know to complete their duties, from what to do at a murder scene to how to deal with a stray dog.

Because of the colour of its binding, the volume became known to officers as The Blue Book. This name stuck until the printed book was discontinued in the 1990s and replaced with web-based sources of information.

This version appeared in Greater Manchester Police in 1993.

exploring different web-based whiteboards in Twinity. Imagination3.com 's seems to mostly working - inputting text is problematic. Twiddla.com - hangs at 90% of loading, and java based groupboards.com - crashed Twinity...

Ultimately this is proof of concept - getting a group of people to work at the whiteboard is a problem - as at the moment - can't authenticate other users.

The UK’s highest-ranking composer has joined one of the country’s leading new music ensembles and students at the University of Salford to create a unique interactive online project.

Master of the Queen’s Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, oversaw the recording of his piece Eight Songs for a Mad King by the University’s official MediaCityUK Ensemble – Manchester-based contemporary music group Psappha – in the Digital Performance Lab at the University’s MediaCityUK building.

Background: The Healing Place came to vimarc in October 2010 requesting assistance to complete their capital funding campaign to pay off the new women and children’s facility. The goal was 1.2 million dollars by the end of 2010 to secure an $800K matching grant. The Healing Place needed a media outreach and public relations plan they could enact immediately and that provided direct results.

Vimarc’s responsibility: thevimarcgroup created a branded campaign entitled – Hope Has A Name – Yours. vimarc then created marketing graphics and messaging for utilization throughout mixed media including print, radio, television and web based communication. Media training and talking points for The Healing Place board members was necessary for various coverage opportunities created by vimarc. The campaign also looked to establish media partnerships for future use and launch brand awareness throughout the local community.

Strategies: To begin, thevimarcgroup established a target audience of individual donors donating $10 each rather than concentrating on corporate donations. Almost immediately, media partners were established with local outlets WLKY – 32 TV, The Courier-Journal newspaper and outdoor advertising company Maloney Outdoor. A day of media training was completed to prepare The Healing Place for upcoming opportunities. Talking points were determined to ensure cohesive messaging on campaign keys and highlights.

The focus of donation efforts was creating a strong online social media presence combined with a physical presence at local events. A Facebook page and tab complete with campaign details of how to become involved was created. Updates to Facebook in the form of posts, events and donation progress were communicated daily. A landing page capable of accepting donations to supplement our online presence was set up. The landing page featured stories and copy vimarc created specific to the women and children facility’s audience.

To corroborate the online presence vimarc created an event set-up booth for donor registration and campaign accessibility. The booth materials were employed at several key locations including popular local restaurants, sporting events and shopping centers. These included The Summit Shopping Centre, Prime Lounge located across the street from the brand new KFC Yum! Center, Brown-Williamson Club, and O’Shea’s Irish Restaurant and Bar.

Results: Thevimarcgroup and The Healing Place’s – Hope Has A Name – Yours campaign raised over $512,000 in only five weeks. In addition to donations, the campaign generated invaluable brand awareness through media partnerships resulting in over $136,000 in earned media coverage. Live event set –up exposed The Healing Place to a younger, secluded audience formerly inaccessible due to the nature of The Healing Place’s work. The campaign was recognized by the Advertising Federation of Louisville at their annual awards gala. Campaign materials were honored with three advertising excellence awards in categories including mixed media. The Healing Place has since carried the campaign’s momentum and strategy into appearances with Kentucky Congressman John Yarmouth.

I just wrote a little program called Lickr.

Flickr's photos are presented in little interactive movies called Flash files. That's what's loading when you see the pink and blue spheres circling each other.

Flash interfaces can be amazingly slick, but they don't work well on all platforms. And they make some everyday operations, like right-clicking, impossible.

Lickr offers you a different option. It works in the Firefox web browser, replacing Flickr's Flash interface with a similar web-based interface.

I read it somewhere online that the Leh Palace was the tallest building in the world when it was built, but then we can't trust all web based information, can we? As far as I know before the coming of skyscrapers the world's tallest building was always a church or cathedral, so what I found online surely is misleading. Still it must have been one of the highest, considering the altitude it is at, 11500 ft. Built by King Sengge Namgyal,it apparently has a passing similarity to the Potala Palace in Lhasa (Tibet). In any case this nine-storey dun-coloured palace is Leh's dominant structure and architectural icon and strangely I didn't go up to it when I had been to Leh. The weather had played spoilsport during my visit and that was a big factor in choosing what was viewed and what was not, but the day before my departure, the skies did start clearing up and from my hotel window I had a view of the palace beautifully lit by the warm afternoon light and I did manage to capture a shot before the clouds took over and the light disappeared. Nothing grand here, just a view of the rear of the palace, in the warm golden light. The piece of architecture topped by red on the right is the Namgyal Stupa. Do also notice the water pipes which obviously is a present day addition.

As always would love to have some feedback, so that I can improve on the way I view and present my images. As for the title of the image, it is what the locals call the palace as.
