She was so stunning I decided not to photoshop this at all so people don't think it's fake because of any effects :)

A stolen street-shot of seven Filipina school girls watching the boys walk by from across the street in Legaspi, Albay, Bicol, Philippines. (Look at each face and see if you and read what they are thinking).

This is a desert spiny lizard ( Sceloporus magister) at the terrarium of our zoo. These lizards are quite curious little fellows and often watch the visitors on the other side of the glass. They seem to be particularly interested in people with cameras.:)

Tai Mo Shan, you can see the pearl river delta in the background

Mechanical watch it seams people just use their phone to check time or some other smart device. I remember my dad always wore the same mechanical watch.

My Fromanteel watch. I have made this shot a few weeks ago for testing one of my new lenses. After I took the photo I gave it to Fromanteel and they now posted it on their instagram.

"Shot made by the very talented Max Veldhuis" :p

Photographed during the Night Photo Session of the 2023 Winter Spectacular. East Broad Top 2-8-2 #16 sits on the turntable by the roundhouse and a crew observes the locomotive as it steams into the night time air. Who would have thought in just over three years the EBT would again see steam and life back to an almost forgotten railroad.

Went to see my favourite watchdealer the other day, in just a simple, trivial matter, not horology related really.

But, as the born salesman he is, all of a sudden I have a watch on my wrist.

"Too large", I say.

He: "Oh no, not at all! You are a tall and big man, that watch is perfect for you!"

I diverted the conversation and left.

With my own watch on my wrist.

Surprise visitor in the middle of the gardens in the middle of campus. I was expecting to photograph flowers

...laying on the ground, outside the tent.

I just love the way you can see weather and light coming towards you when at the coast (west facing anyway). There is a magical congruent feeling to it, calming and real. This shaft of light slowly came directly towards me and eventually passed strait overhead.

Yes as a landscape photographer you are watching the weather all the time, it helps you predict the conditions for dramatic light, but there isn’t normally so much time to watch it coming towards you. What this coast has in particular, (Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall) is wide open vistas, high cliffs and lots of weather! A fantastic mix of elements that really speak to the elemental, helping me live in the moment. Whilst waiting for the shaft of light to be in the right place, I felt totally at peace. I saw it coming, saw its direction, and enjoyed the moment. It felt very real.

A couple of bits of news. I’ve posted a Cornish view here, as I’m in preliminary talks to exhibit my work in Cornwall. I’ve been talking about it for years, but was prompted into action by a very kind lady who was enquiring about a print for her office. She passed my details on through her local networks, thanks so much for that (o: (sorry don’t mention names here)

Secondly, thanks to a Cornish company “the Heart of the Garden”, I’m about to be in 700 outlets across the country with a new charity greetings cards range. Sadly I cannot claim credit for all of them, but I’ve five cards in the mix...

As I was photographing spring flowers, at the back of the garden, I realized that Jester was watching from a distance. He gradually worked his way closer to me, until he was only a couple of feet away.

(I know this is in the 2010 *and* 2011 sets, but it was painted at the very end of 2010, so I have included it in both!).

I captured this image of a Red Grouse on the moor nr Lofthouse in North Yorkshire. A cold but sunny day.

Thanks for looking and I'm happy for any comments.

Both of these pictures were taken within 5 minutes of each other :-) It's amazing how it changes in such a small amount of time!

I began to roam around ...

A bird in the sun.

This is a preserved World War II watch station on Hutchinson Island, Florida. These were built all along the Atlantic east coast of the U.S. to watch for German u-boats and other potential German naval activity. Only a few of these survive today.

This is that same hawk that always sits in the tall tree across the street. For some reason my shots don't come out very clear and they're stabilized on my deck to limit noise...maybe it's something in my settings that doesn't jive with the conditions I'm shooting in!!! lol...I'm not sure. :) Doesn't it look like the hawk is giving me the stink eye! lol

Getting ready for my big doctor appt tomorrow...kinda nervous.
