decided on a whim to make the old man a wallet yesterday. he'll have a birthday when we're visiting next week, and we're too broke to buy him anything. figured i'd put to use some of the old thrift store vinyl we've had sitting around for ages. pretty happy with the color combination. you may recognize the R from one of my collages
The insides of what will be the selvedge-wallet. A zippered pocket, a large pocket for notes, credit card pockets and two more pockets. All colourful!
I looked at the tutorials here - darnkat.wordpress.com/quilted-fabric-wallet-tutorial/ and here - elily00.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/organizer-wallet.pdf - and am kind of winging it from there....
I am working on a new batch of tomboy wallets, and here I'm showing the inside view before everything gets stitched together. This is where the cards and the paper money goes. The lower pocket pattern is what will be on the outside of the wallet.

I made myself a new wallet. This is my fifth prototype. The cover and inside ID pocket are made of clear plastic. The other pockets and billfold are Tyvek. I slipped a copy of one of my watercolors into the cover pocket to give it a custom look. Additional details and a plan are on my blog at: www.jimblodget.com/blog/custom-wallet/ .
Two wallet submissions. Both on dark blue wood grain. These images are from my monkey world series. Popular with both guys and girls. A simpler style with just the image on the front but the wood grain still makes the back interesting.
The famous Passport Wallet from the Summer '07 issue of Adorn Magazine. I had such a blast picking out the fabrics! One tip- use Palmer/Pletsch interfacing instead of Pellon for better results.
The inside of the wallet. Very roomy. I used The Necessary Clutch Wallet Pattern by Emmaline Bags. Blogged: www.normasbagboutique.blogspot.com

My new RFID-blocking wallet. I love the design and colors. And until I read a recent article about RFID-blocking, I was happy with the security of this wallet, also.
The great debate now is if RFID-blocking (Radio Frequency Identification) is really necessary. Until someone can show me that it's not, I will continue to use my RFID wallet.
One problem... the blocking screen also blocks the signal from my key fob so if my purse is facing the wrong way, my car won't start!

I have two wallets. The black one is the everyday one, with credit cards, stamps, receipts and all that junk. The little blue one is made from ikat cloth and I bought it in Ubud in Bali probably the first time I went there about 25 years ago. I always use it in situations when I don't want to take my credit cards and valuables.
I used watercolour pencils for this one as I needed them to draw the cloth.
I have gotten into the habit of photocopying my wallet contents - front and back - just in case my wallet is lost or stolen. This way I will know exactly what was in there and have all the phone numbers within easy access to cancel the cards.
We came across an estate jewellery shop. Thankfully for my wallet, I didn't have time to stop and take a look. If I ever visit Arnhem again, perhaps I'd check it out.
The name means Gilt House.
