I Just Love Getting Up and Seeing A Colorful Sun Rise. Today Didn't Have The Fire Red Start to It, But Any Sun Rise Is Beautiful. Hopefully It Will Stay Sunny All Day.
It's going to be going to be a grey cold cloudy week so something to remind me sunnier days will be here soon. I need to get some more painting done and start to think about planning some prints for my exhibition. I still have more conservation supervision to do , so lots goingon . Wake up sunshine is by Chicago.
Nittany and Bald Eagle GP10 1804 rolls down Washington Street in Tyrone with interchange bound for Norfolk Southern on a warm spring morning.
The 1804 was built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as GP9 7118 in 1957 and was rebuilt as a GP10 by Illinois Central Gulf's Paducah Shops for Conrail in the late 1970's.
Wake up call given out by this Knot (Calidris canutus) as I edged closer...this meant that half the flock of birds I was watching scooted over to the next rock pool island. There is always one keeping a beady eye on you! :))

The knot is a dumpy, short-legged, stocky wading bird. In winter, It is grey above and white below; in summer the chest, belly and face are brick-red. In flight, it shows a pale rump and a faint wing-stripe. It forms huge flocks in winter which wheel and turn in flight, flashing their pale underwings as they twist and turn. Many knots use UK estuaries as feeding grounds, both on migration and in winter, and therefore the population is vulnerable to any changes such as barrages, sea-level rises and human disturbance. Large numbers of birds visit the UK in winter from their Arctic breeding grounds.
I don't see too many sunrises because I sleep in late. Just happened to wake up and see the beautiful light outside. And my camera was all set up on the tripod. Not too bad for a half asleep attempt
Roams the neighborhood doing his thing every few feet then moves on. And to think I got rid of my alarm clock a few years ago after retirement. Hmmmmmmm I wonder if he tastes like chicken?
St. Paul And Pacific Northwest railroad Waneta Turn departs Kettle Falls, WA on a gloomy June morning. After chasing the Columbia Basin Railroad the day prior, I decided to try the SPPNW the next day hearing some unconfirmed On-Duty times for the Waneta Turn. Got a hotel downtown in downtown Kettle falls for the night to wake up early the next day. Woke up to the sound of a K5LA outside of my room 1 hour before the rumored On-Duty time. Rushed out the door just in time to catch them slowly climbing out of town. Good thing I was a light sleeper that day 😳.
An approaching female duck seems inquisitive about my presence and churns up a bow wake in the lagoon water. The non-migratory endemic Hawaiian duck, koloa maoli (Anas wyvilliana), was once abundant enough to be a local food source and sold to visiting whaling ships. The koloa maoli is now considered endangered due to habitat loss and fertile hybridization with escaped, released, and vagrant mallards (Anas platyrhynchos). This koloa is very likely ancestral hybridized as genetic studies indicate only a few remaining koloa maoli exist, mostly on the island of Kauai.

I was very excited to see these pulsating auroras filling the sky when I got up for work this morning. Not a bad view from my backyard.
