While killing time waiting for my car to be serviced I shot this VW Beetle since its brilliant paint job reminded me of Poe's short story about a gold bug.

Saw the paint job on this VW Bug early this morning and made a point to stop by it on my way back. Notice the very old style front turn signals on what looks to me like a late '60s body.

A pair of home-built rods, parked on a quayside in the historic city of York, U.K. These cars have been sitting here for quite a few years, and the pair have become something of a tourist attraction. Reportedly the owner/builder lives on one of the barges docked here.
The Volkswagen is a 1974 Type 1 βBeetleβ Kustom βBreadvanβ conversion, registration: βRKX 215Mβ. The maroon car - registration βMKV 388Gβ belongs to a chassis which started out in life as a 1968 Triumph Vitesse. The car has since received a full custom re-body (similar to one from a circa 1930s/β40s Austin), and has turned into a β70s-style Hot Rod, fitted W/ a small block motor (possibly a Harley engine?).
Facelifted resprayed exquisite Volkswagen Beetle with aftermarket wheels.

Hot Wheels Coca Cola '71 Hemi Cuda . Three of my favorite things in the world are Coca-Cola, Hot Wheels and Classic cars, so this image of a 57 Ford Ranchero street rod with the Coke logo is very cool.

I've always had a 'thing' for old VW Bugs (aka Volkswagen Beetle) and as I was walking around this car show, this one pulled in and found its spot that you see here. I was immediately drawn to follow and take a closer look at this cool Bug. Upon an up-close inspection, I found out that this amazing looking paint job is just that...the paint is not flaking off but that look is THE actual paint job! The flaking areas are a part of the paint and are intentionally supposed to look like what you are seeing...it is amazing up close. Beyond the paint, the rest of the details on this VW are just cool...the old surfboard, vintage metal cooler, Elvis Presley Blvd sign, rusty gas can, rims & tires, chrome, and an awesome window sticker that reads "I want my records back"! The details will always make a classic car...
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
