This thing is the very definition of "ugly and proud".

I almost gave it up at some point, but the car is just too weird and way beyond original not to be worth a little effort. The thing I probably like most about this mutant is its mean and efficient... "logic".

A colourful VW Bug decorated with advertising for Morelia rock band Los Bukis at the entrance to upscale Hotel Mansión Solís by HOTSSON.

Los Bukis is a Mexican rock band from the 80s and 90s.The group was originally composed of Juan Ojeda, José Luis Gutiérrez, Alberto Fuentes, Fito Olivares and Carlos Berlanga.

Today there are only three original members: Juan Ojeda (guitar and vocals), Alberto Fuentes (bass guitar), and Fito Olivares (drums).

Los Bukis were pioneers in the type of music called “rock en español” that became popular in Mexico during the 1980s. They released their first album in 1983 which sold well enough.

In 2021 the band was on a reunion tour in Mexico.

Nikki & Skipper

[...the night before, Nikki and Skipper try to enjoy an evening out on the town]

N. --- You know, now that Blaine is officially on the market... you should try that out.

S. --- What? [she replies confused...] Where did that come from? and ewe... he used to date my sister.

N. --- So, Ken dated your sister. Look at us now.

S. --- I have a boyfriend.

N. --- Ugh [she says with disgust...] Is that what you're calling him now?

S. --- Stop pretending like you don't know I'm dating Rylan. It's starting to get annoying.

N. --- I just... I just don't trust him. He's no good for you.

S. --- STOP! Okay. I'm sick of you ragging on Rylan all the time. He's my boyfriend! You're my best friend! Why can't you just let it go and be happy for me?

N. --- I don't trust him.

[Skipper steps in front of Nikki and stops walking]

S. --- I trust him! ...And as my best friend you should support me.

[they both stand there not saying anything until Nikki finally breaks the silence]

N. --- Fine. [she lets out a sigh] You're right. From now on, you won't hear anything negative about him from me.

S. --- Thank you.

N. --- ...But if there comes a day for "I told you so"... just know that I'm going to thoroughly enjoy it.

S. --- [she miles] Fine... Now can we go sit down already. These wedges are killing my feet.

Going to start the 52 week project! This was from earlier this week when I went to the city(:

One of my favorite local farms, about four miles from the farm where I grew up near Manchester, Michigan (in fact, the school bus used to turn around at this intersection). Going to an ice cream social on the evening of July 26, 2018 I noticed this VW for sale adjacent to the farm and determined to stop for some photos on the return home. Asking price is $4500.

All of my classic car photos can be found here: Car Collections

Just a few weeks into my VW project we were out for dinner one night at one of our favourite local cafes and as Ray came back from paying the bill he said that Phil (our waiter) had just been telling him how there is a customer who comes in early most Saturday mornings with a beautifully restored VW Beetle.

'How on earth did you even come to talking about VW's?' I asked Ray. As it turns out Phil had asked what we were up to over the weekend and Ray had told him of my project and how the next day we were heading to Cafe Dak Dak where the VW club meets once a month. Phil had said he was going to try and get the owner's (Ben) phone number from him so I could contact him.

So with Ben's restored beetle in mind I had planned to get up early the following morning and wander around to see if it was there but it was so cosy in bed and a lazy Saturday morning was in order. Later that morning I drove past the cafe on my way out but it was no where to be seen.

I continued down the road on my way to a hair appointment and I was stopped at the traffic lights when I spotted this fabulous bright green convertible Beetle to my left. The lights changed and she drove right past me . . . I had my camera beside me but there was no time to grab it and grab a shot! I was heading in the same direction myself but was stopping just around the corner and I hoped she was too . . . 'Please, please, please stop' I found myself saying . . . hoping she would receive my thoughts telepathically . . . and she did because she had stopped and parked just up the road from where I was. Yes!!!

I grabbed a few shots . . . would have loved to grab a few more but it was parked in front of a nail salon where several girls inside were keeping a watchful eye on me. I thought she may have been one of them. As I walked off I glanced back and I just happened to see the owner approaching the car with a tray of coffees in hand . . . would have loved a shot of her too . . . but she got in and promptly drove off.

I really like this pairing this for two reasons, not just the colour but I love the way the feather of the mask mimic those of the palm trees in the background too! This was just a random find that I happened to photograph while wandering around an antique bazaar one lunch break and before I found this Beetle too!!

Adam scored some awesome SLR's at Goodwill, and I happened to a have roll of black and white negative Kodak film that had been expired nearly 15 years. He wanted to finish off the roll, so I snapped this of him and his "Bastard Bug."
