Pottering about a bit in our Snowy Garden this morning, my Sonyeye became intrigued by this Winter Brightness. Almost violently red Cotoneaster Berries are vying with Gravity - can't show you that - over the fortunes of an H2O-droplet. Amazing forces of Nature form such a droplet. Water molecules would rather band together than bond with other kinds such as air. This desire for proximity to each other causes their spherical shape - a bit technically: a sphere has the smallest possible surface area to volume ratio. What looks like an 'elastic membrane' around the droplet is in fact its surface tension, caused by that central molecular binding. This tension is quite something: it makes it possible for example for small insects to walk on water.
In the photo, our water droplet is not a sphere. It's pendant, pulled out of shape by the force of gravity. And fell into a snowy grave just as Sony did its thing.

Another new years Photo but this time with a bit of a message. It's no secret I stay busy.In fact at times that's all I do. Ive done a lot.I've shot helped promoted shown off and taken on more than some and more than I should. With..that this is a Goodbye in a manner of Speaking...then again it isn't. I am slowing down, doing less and refocusing on More Important things. Yes this is a Retirement Announcement , But a retirement from all the things that kept me busy and distracted. You will see old faces on my page a few new, but not the Volume I did before. Less is more so to say. I raise a toast to all who stood alongside me Considered me Friend and Still do, all those who support love admire and give me good in return that I give and to the rest of you who don't fit in that or have to ask do I make that list, you have your answer already. I needed to warm up for the night shot. To get into the comfort zone for me a natural start was to go for Black & White pictures. This trip's theme was long exposures with water. The hydro-station at Boen would be a good starting point. You can really feel the change in air pressure as you climb along the massive waterfall. You're really met with a huge roaring volume of water.
The area in which I was staying, Wilhelminapier, was full of some of the taller buildings in Rotterdam. On my last evening in the city I took a wander as the clouds slowly descended to the tops of the towers.
This building in particular, 'De Rotterdam' seemed designed to make sure very little of the atmosphere could be seen from ground level. I've seen much taller buildings in person, but this building had far more volume to it.
Again, it was my sort of place. Probably due to the bridge cutting off the rest of the city, there were very few people about.

A quietness akin to a heavy fog hovers over an old barn that once ricocheted the sounds of a farmer's family doing chores and the insistent appeals of the livestock hoping for their evening meals. I am entering my PTS10 pillow into the Modern Mini Quilt Challenge hosted by Ellison Lane. The design was inspired by Tracey Jay's scrappy sprouts and my partner's (Mel, Crandons) mosaic and her colour requests. I thought it would be fun to make the sprouts with curves but keep them scrappy.

Snowball and his brother Mel are first time boarders. Snowball has been rather ambivalent towards us the whole time while his brother started out hating us and now loves us.
Funny story about Mel. There are two songs that are impossible for me to listen to without singing along - What the World Needs Now and Downtown. A couple days ago both songs played on the radio and since I'm a self conscious singer I went into the boarding room, turned the volume WAY up and sang along. Every boarder except Mel and his brother looked slightly horrified - a couple even hid under their towels - but Snowball ignored me and Mel got up, started chirping and rubbing against the cage door. This happened with both songs. I wonder if they hear loud music at home.

Période de nourrissage chez le busard cendré.
J'ai passé beaucoup de temps à l'affût pour photographier ce busard en vol. En période de nourrissage, il peut rester de longs moments près des petits puis repartir en chasse. L'approche est très rapide, le busard cendré se pose vite dans les blés, ne restant que de trop brèves secondes devant l'objectif.

Period of feeding in the montagu's harrier.
I spent a lot of time on the lookout for to photograph the harrier in volume In the period of feeding, it can remain for long periods of time close to small then go hunting. The approach is very fast, the harrier arose quickly in the wheat, being that all too brief seconds in front of the lens.

Zeitraum fütterung bei der wiesenweihe.
Ich verbrachte viel zeit auf der lauer, um zu fotografieren, was bussard in vol zeit füttern, so kann es bleiben längere zeit in der nähe der kleinen und dann wieder auf der jagd. Der ansatz ist sehr schnell, wiesenweihen, stellt sich schnell in die saat, die verbleibende, dass zu kurze sekunden vor dem ziel.

Me pasé un montón de tiempo en el puesto de observación para fotografiar el aguilucho en volumen En el periodo de lactancia, puede permanecer por largos períodos de tiempo cerca de la pequeña, a continuación, ir de caza. El enfoque es muy rápido, el aguilucho se levantó rápidamente en el trigo, siendo que todos demasiado breves segundos en frente de la lente.

Periode van voeding in de grauwe kiekendief.
Ik besteed veel tijd op de uitkijk voor om de foto van de kiekendief in het volume in de periode van het voeden, het kan blijven voor langere tijd dicht bij kleine dan gaan jagen. De aanpak is zeer snel, de kiekendief ontstond al snel in de tarwe, wordt dat maar al te korte seconden in de voorkant van de lens.

Periodo di alimentazione in albanella minore.
Ho speso un sacco di tempo alla ricerca di fotografare l'harrier in volume nel periodo di allattamento, può rimanere per lunghi periodi di tempo vicino ai piccoli e poi andare a caccia. L'approccio è molto veloce, il biancone si alzò in fretta nel grano, che, troppo breve secondi davanti all'obiettivo.

Período de alimentação no tartanhão-caçador.
Eu passei um monte de tempo à procura de fotografar o harrier, em volume, No período de alimentação, que pode permanecer por longos períodos de tempo perto de pequenos, em seguida, ir à caça. A abordagem é muito rápida, o harrier, levantou-se rapidamente no trigo, sendo que todos os demais breves segundos na frente da lente.

This was a shot I worked on in the Metro Stations of Prague, I would have liked a closer person standing still but the volume of passengers makes it difficult!
Life passes you by in a heart beat & this guy is a good example of that..
The numbers for this afternoons sunset had been good since Monday ... and didn't change.
Got to the harbour with a half hour to spare and hoped that things might pan out for those old slipway rails that I'm so fond of.

A floating village on Tonle Sap lake, outside Siem Reap, Cambodia. The houses are either floating or on stilts, because the volume of water changes so dramatically from dry season to rainy season. Right now the houses on stilts are so high because the Chinese have built a dam on the Mekong River which has cut into the water supply.
