Sept. 8, 2007 --- In December 2006 a wicked windstorm with hurricane force winds devastated much of Stanley Park west of Prospect Point. The resulting thinning of the forest can be seen nine months later after the rubble of several thousand felled trees has been cleared. Newly planted trees are slowly filling in the void.

The realisation you’ve forgotten the things you cherish most creates a hole in your gut, that will never be filled. I’ve forgotten the feeling of your skin, your touch, your lips, your smell, your voice. I wish I could, if even just for a moment, get to remember all of the above things. I want to make sure I never forget any inch of you, again.

Machine perception is the ability of a computer system to interpret data in a manner that is similar to the way humans use their senses to relate to the world around them. Using an artistic approach to interpret the learning mechanism of an AI-based projection-mapping technique, we challenge the dominant perception system of artificial intelligence as practiced today, which is purely objective and reductionist.

to find one's own self, one must reach into the inner depths of their soul, only to find that there is no soul, rather a void. a void that is filled with the ideas and interpretations of those around them. thus, WE ARE ALL VOIDS

Real name: unknown

Age: 40

Guild Occupation: assassin and engineer

Bio: Void's life before he joined the Guild is shrouded in mystery, even his name is never uttered by him. According to Dusk, the most he knows about Void's past was that Void witnessed the trial and execution of his father and uncle for crimes against the republic state. However, even that bit of information was hard to retrieve, and took Dusk many years of trust and friendship to weasel it out of him.

Void first befriended Dusk at the age of 17 on the battlefields of Durcanon, and took an immediate liking to him. Unfortunately, differences arose between the two, specifically in the areas of morality and future direction the Guild should take, and their friendship ended. Some say Void to the parting rather hard.

As Thorn ages and can no longer handle the responsibilities of the Guild, she hands the responsibility over to Void, since Void has fallen into Thorn's good graces. It is assumed that Void will take control of the Guild once Thorn passes away.

Personality Traits: Void tends to keep to himself; most people take it that he's shy, but really, it's because he has nothing nice to say to anyone. He has a grim view about life, and enjoys mocking anyone with any sense of hope or self dignity. He has a most ruthless way of assassinating, which borderlines being considered torture. It seems he lacks complete remorse and empathy for other human beings. Void has always been insecure, thus the reason he never gives his name, for fear of being tracked. His insecurities don't let up as he ages, but instead get worse. This is why he never opens up to anyone.

Void's nickname derives from the overall empty look and feel to him. Some wonder if he even has a soul.

Il Vuoto (the void) is the title of the new photographic project that I'm currently working on.

Subject: those peripheral areas where human settlement and countryside meet.

Location: cities and towns of the Pianura Padana region (northern Italy).

Style: black&white, 45mm equivalent fixed focal length, square format. I may add images with different format if the subject demands it.

Theme: I wish to convey the absurdity of modern urban development, revealing urban areas (be it private or public) built with no interest in concepts like beauty, social function, respect for the historic and environmental identity of the territory where we live; an urban space that spreads, dilutes itself, into the countryside thus effectively giving up its own identity in relation to its surroundings (because there are no more surroundings).

Such urban space becomes a place without identity, a non-place as defined by Marc Augé: the void indeed.

I didn't define any deadline for this project, so I would like to share it as a work in progress, posting new images as I shoot and process them. I look forward to receiving your comments and opinions.

We actually had to stand there for 4 hours across two days waiting to see the bridge at all... and I can tell you it was absolutely freezing cold with gale force winds... it was rather miserable really! Not sure if it was worth the effort but I wanted minimal... and I got minimal!

On a random summers days during the week Gary from Krazy Scooters popped down to Grit HQ bringing with Soly and Gary's most recent scouted talent, Mason Leonardi. We spent the day at the local park and doing a shop signing at Vert while getting to see what Mason was all about. I grabbed a few shots of him killing the half pipe, this T-Bog was my favourite.
