Day 17 of #inktober - prompt: Journal

To keep things simple, I’ve drawn the notebook in which I keep a diary of my daily prompts for this Inktober challenge.

Day 6 of #inktober , prompt: Trek

It’s great that the “trek” prompt falls on a Sunday. Because it’s my favorite day for trekking, getting lost in the woods discovering hidden corners and especially... meeting wild animals.

The inktober challenge is very simple. Just draw the prompt of the day in ink and publish it using the inktober hashtags. After a few years where I passed my turn, I am trying this 2024 edition even though it will be a month full of activities and commitments. I chose the free-style of the continuous line to represent the prompt, without fuss or colors.

I hope you like it!

Day 25 of #inktober - prompt: scarecrow

The scarecrow is now just an idea in our imagination perpetuated by novels or films, I haven't seen one in gardens or fields for decades. Have you?

Day 21 of #inktober - prompt: Rhinoceros

A rhino? It has two horns, a long snout and two funny ears. But I had to look at an image to be able to draw it with an uninterrupted continuous line.

Day 16 of #inktober - prompt: Grungy

Grungy was Kurt Cobain from the Nirvana band. A drawing is not worth its music.

These visual chalk drawings are great illusions of depth in our environment. changing our perspectives, and here, providing us with some wonderful humour.

Julian Beever is an English artist who's famous for his art on the pavement of England, France, Germany, USA, Australia and Belgium . Beever gives to his drawings an amazing 3D illusion.

Day 10 of #inktober - prompt: Nomadic

For this prompt on nomadic I thought first of the desert people who move with their humped animals.

Day 9 of #inktober - prompt: Sun

The sun is the celestial body of my zodiac sign. When it is at its zenith it is a ball of fire, difficult to look at, but so simple to draw.

Every company has a culture, but it can take time to learn, and the stated culture can often differ significantly from what people actually experience.

At XPLANE we have created a visual map of our culture, to guide our teams in daily decision making and help them make choices that are consistent with what we stand for and who we want to be.

Day 23 of #inktober - prompt: Rust

Gold-toned silver print

From the series:

CONFLICT: EXPRESSION/RESOLUTION/SUSPENSION

Artists structure space. The grid, the line, and the all-over pattern are three types of image structure that suspend conflict by denying a center-of-influence. Primary Structures/ Multiple Repetitive Units/ Randomness depicts a grid, which denies a center-of-influence.

Day 13 of #inktober - prompt: Horizon

I live in a village in the former “Pays-Noir” (Black Country) in Wallonia, Belgium where the visual horizon is still marked by the mining past of the region, with the slag heaps as the only mountains, today mostly covered with vegetation. The line of my horizon is therefore this alternation of slag heaps, bell towers, houses and industrial buildings and a lot of vegetation.

This is an update to something I was calling "five frames". The category called "relationships" is new.

It turns out that in a little under two weeks, I'll be teaching a course on leadership to 7th graders. They've already gone through an elaborate course over the last two years in teamwork and communication... and the 8th grade gets a course devoted to thinking, organization, and reaching for goals. That leaves a precarious middle ground that I'm not at all sure how to bridge. So I'm giving this basic framework to the class... today. I think I'll have to make some lists of elements that are good, though, on ... you guessed it... index cards!

There's definitely some overlap between the 8th grade curriculum and the 6th grade curriculum already. Figuring out how to bridge that gap so that kids can learn new things in this class while still move forward in the next class to a greater awareness of themselves as leaders is going to be tricky.

Any advice about moving forward in teaching this class?

Day 30 of #inktober - prompt: Violin

I continue this challenge with each prompt drawn in black marker with a continuous line, and I enjoy listening to the notes of a Niccolò Paganini as a continuous musical flow as well.

Day 8 of #inktober - prompt: hike

I love hiking because it often means walking on marked trails. No need to look for my way, hiking allows me to follow a track and enjoy the landscape differently. It’s less wild than trekking.
