A hallucination, in the broadest sense, is a perception in the absence of a stimulus. In a stricter sense, hallucinations are defined as perceptions in a conscious and awake state in the absence of external stimuli which have qualities of real perception, in that they are vivid, substantial, and located in external objective space. The latter definition distinguishes hallucinations from the related phenomena of dreaming, which does not involve wakefulness; illusion, which involves distorted or misinterpreted real perception; imagery, which does not mimic real perception and is under voluntary control; and pseudohallucination, which does not mimic real perception, but is not under voluntary control. Hallucinations also differ from "delusional perceptions", in which a correctly sensed and interpreted genuine perception is given some additional (and typically bizarre) significance.
Hallucinations can occur in any sensory modality — visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, proprioceptive, equilibrioceptive, nociceptive, thermoceptive and chronoceptive.
A mild form of hallucination is known as a disturbance, and can occur in any of the senses above. These may be things like seeing movement in peripheral vision, or hearing faint noises and/or voices. Auditory hallucinations are very common in schizophrenia of the paranoid type. They may be benevolent (telling the patient good things about himself) or malicious, cursing the patient etc. Auditory hallucinations of the malicious type are frequently heard like people talking about the patient behind his back. Like auditory hallucinations, the source of their visual counterpart can also be behind the patient's back. Their visual counterpart is the feeling of being looked-stared at, usually with malicious intent. Not infrequently, auditory hallucinations and their visual counterpart are experienced by the patient together.

A imagem foca-se no "papo-de-anjo" (a infrutescência) de um dente-de-leão, destacando-se contra um fundo densamente desfocado (bokeh) em tons de terra, ocre e verde profundo.
O Detalhe: A nitidez revela a estrutura complexa dos aquénios, onde cada pequena semente se prende ao seu "paraquedas" de filamentos brancos.
A Cor: Há um jogo de contrastes entre o branco etéreo da planta e os tons quentes e saturados do meio envolvente, conferindo à imagem uma aura quase pictórica.
A Perspetiva: O ângulo sublinha a verticalidade da haste avermelhada, posicionando a planta como uma estrutura arquitetónica frágil, mas imponente no seu microcosmos.

O Paradoxo da Fraqueza e da Robustez
O nome "Dente-de-leão" (do francês dent-de-lion) evoca garras, rugidos e a força bruta do rei da selva.
No entanto, ao olharmos para a obra de Mário Silva, somos confrontados com o oposto: uma esfera de seda que um sopro descuidado pode desintegrar.
É neste contraste que reside a verdadeira essência da Taraxacum.

A Fraqueza Aparente
A fragilidade desta planta é a sua faceta mais poética.
O dente-de-leão representa o efémero.
Quando atinge o estado de "globo branco", a sua existência é uma contagem decrescente; cada filamento é uma promessa de partida.
É a imagem da vulnerabilidade que não oferece resistência ao vento, aceitando a dispersão como o seu destino inevitável.

A Robustez Oculta
Contudo, engana-se quem vê no dente-de-leão apenas uma flor fútil.
A sua robustez é estratégica e silenciosa:
A Raiz: Possui uma raiz profunda e persistente que sobrevive a invernos rigorosos e a solos compactados.
A Resiliência: É das primeiras plantas a florir na primavera, crescendo muitas vezes por entre as fendas do cimento, provando que a vida encontra sempre um caminho.
A Dispersão: Aquela que parece ser a sua maior fraqueza — a facilidade com que se desfaz — é, na verdade, a sua maior força.
Ao "quebrar-se", a planta espalha centenas de sementes, garantindo a continuidade da espécie a quilómetros de distância.

Uma Lição de Natureza
O dente-de-leão ensina-nos que ser forte não significa ser rígido.
A sua robustez não vem da dureza dos seus tecidos, mas da sua capacidade de se adaptar e de se soltar no momento certo.
O nome "feroz" faz jus não à sua aparência, mas à sua vontade indomável de sobreviver e de renascer em qualquer lugar onde o vento a leve.

el señor elefante en pocas ocasiones se atreve a salir a pasear por la ciudad. le preocupan sus pocas habilidades sociales y el tambaleo de su cuerpo al dar un paso. es miedica y no soporta sobresaltarse y generar golpes con su trompa a los desconocidos y a los amigos. el señor elefante es una bella persona que siempre que pasea anda con la mirada baja y aislado de lo que le rodea.

That's a photo of me when I was ten. The writing on the right has many translations of the word ten. I've been saving this painting from the front of Smithsonian magazine for just the right spot. I finally found it. The sticker that says pocket was on the magazine when I got it. I had the piece of shisha embroidery out to put on the cover of my little orange book when I make it. It wound up here instead.

If you look at the upper right quadrant you'll notice a profusion of tiny yellow dots. It's unexpected, uncontrolled magic like this that makes my heart skip a beat. It's the magic of what I call a Random Act of Art: when the medium and physics/chemistry/the Divine do the work and I am just one small, humble player in the creation. I never tire of this!
