Mxing colors of Claudine Hellmuth's paints just to see what would happen! Some stenciling "outlined" with black gel pen and journaling done with a white signo pen.
The start of a large book which will showcase my musings on the theme of "self portrait"
The background papers consist of a mixture of paper types which were stored in my garage after I moved and which have been subsequently affected by water damage.
The figures are wrapped brown paper, which have been overwrapped with thread and painted with gesso and various paint effects.
The grouping of the figures is my attempt to show how the placement can affect one's understanding of the person's position in society.

My neck pain & migraines have been getting to be too much again, even on pain killers. So I distracted myself from the pain by working in my journal. The skull, heart, ghosty-guy with big hands and the spine-looking stamp are stamps I carved the other day for a workshop I'm going to teach next Spring.
I was ready for a new journal for a new year. (Plus, my last one was just a few pages from being full.) So I decided to make a new one from scratch and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's 8" x 10" and I filled it with various paper: watercolor paper, paper from a braille bible, resin paper (used in construction), and pages from an old kid's book. The rubber stamps I used on it are all hand-carved except for the alphabet. I LOVE the binding I did!
