As I told you before and in the last post , I do everyday one little illustration . Here you can see the starlings I saw today in front of my window, some flowers and that yellow girl is my vision of Amanda Gorman, the United States' first-ever youth poet laureate. She recited a powerful poem at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Here are some of her words.:
"When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid,
the new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light,
if only we're brave enough to see it.
If only we're brave enough to be it."
I love that message of hope.
thank you www.flickr.com/photos/colorfulexpressions/ for making me pay attention to this moment.
The word fragility is on my mind in all kinds of different contexts and that's the reason why it has become part of my new art-journal
Lockdown. A grey day, but the black Redstart made one visit.
That's the entry for my visual diary today.
Today I was flipping through my book: Don't judge the ledger by its cover, www.flickr.com/photos/elizabeth_at_landanna/albums/721577...
And this part of the page gave me an idea for the Blue ledger ... time to get back to work, as they say ... :-)
My love for the color blue is still strong and therefore I decided to start on a small, 30x10 cm, textile painting. Although in the same manner as the Big Blue Book, it will be different.

Today a small blanket called the Change of seasons as a sign of support on your journey to create new habits for our new reality, so that you will experience the sun in your face and the wind in your back again.
On this grey morning I tried to capture the beauty of my latest bullion knot sample for my bullion knot book, It's a wrap. It's a little star of 58 woven knots after all we are on our way to Christmas day!
Quite early this morning I was out on the sandbar surrounded by these wonderful creatures!
Brush pen and watercolour.
Although my book lays in the window sill the photo is still dark. Hmm, never mind you get the impression of the Blue overlay totally finished.
Did publish the transformation here: www.flickr.com/photos/elizabeth_at_landanna/50750380178/i...
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant."

Just over 150 bullion knots are laid down on this part of the page. Time for the next layer ... :-)
Today an overview of the two pages. Both are coloured with the same watercolour pencils but one is touched with a wet brush and the other one isn't.
Another difference is the blue thread and a third difference is the embellish stitches.
As soon as one pattern is done, another one is waiting for me.
This time it will be a little bit different in the sense that the drawing and the embroidery piece will be the same pattern.
This pattern is from 1909.
Through the years a fair number of books were made. Each time a bit different, in search of a vehicle that can hold my thoughts and memories in thread.
Today is no different. These samples were made before The Big Blue Book was made, a way of testing the water to see if my thoughts had enough merit to plunge into a big project.
I felt they deserved a home to live in and therefore this booklet was made.
