The village of Vík or Vík í Mýrdal is the southernmost village in Iceland, located on the main ring road around the island, around 180 km (110 mi) by road southeast of Reykjavík.
Despite its small size (750 inhabitants in Mýrdalshreppur as of January 2021) it is the largest settlement for some 70 km (43 mi) around and is an important staging post, and thus it is indicated on road signs from a long distance away. It is an important service center for the inhabitants of and visitors to the coastal strip between Skógar and the west edge of the Mýrdalssandur glacial outwash plain.
We stopped to admire these lush, green mountains in Vik. What a place for a quaint little church

Massive thanks to Alex RabidBee for taking us on a drive to swim at the Farleigh River Swimming Club - lovely, lovely day in the beautiful cool water, 8 feet deep in the middle, gentle sloping places to play, and a weir to sit on - heaven!

Generally, most people, when they're cold, put on clothes & things like that.... Vik sits around longing for ice cream
