View of Vík, Iceland.

Utsikt ned mot Vik i Sogn

Vik is a lovely little town, placed in between high hills that give it a very secluded and cosy feeling.

The black beach of Vík is one of the loveliest ones that are easily reacheble, with a panoramic view of the special rock formation just off the coast. Colonies of artic terns and puffins can be seen at the west end (right side as facing the ocean) of the beach.

One of there few churches we saw.

Small town in South-Iceland seen from Mt.Reynisfjall. Population around 300.

The Hopperstad stave church, 1994. One of the best examples of these wooden churches built all over northern Europe in the 11th - 12th centuries and now only to be found in Norway. The exteriors are embellished with dragons and other beasts, similar to those found on the prows of Viking ships and the interiors and porches full of wonderful mediaeval carvings and decorations.

This is in a parking lot in a little southern town called Vik. Everything in Iceland is beautiful.

From May 2018 Iceland solo photography expedition

This is Vik in her post-accident, really not wanting to be photographed phase.

(One day I'll work out the perfect metering for her freckles...)

A roll of film we just found... from sometime in 2010, probably the first ever roll I shot on my Bronica ETRS

This is an HDR picture of the waves hitting the rocks at Vik. The weather provided an excellent oppurtunity for an HDR picture.

The church overlooking Vik in southern Iceland.

Vik Church (Vikurkirkja) situated on a hill overlooking the village was built between 1930-1934. The sea stacks in the background are known as Reynisdrangar.

A small but very cosy house in Vik.

The tiny settlement of Vik, on the south coast

Note the body armour...lol...I'm getting too old to get hurt!
