The jet black beach at Vik, the southernmost town on Iceland, contrasts fantastically with the foam of breaking waves. In fact in 1991, the American journal Islands Magazine counted this beach as one of the ten most beautiful beaches on Earth.
Directly south from here there is no significant land for nearly 16,000 km - until you finally hit Antarctica.
The basalt sea stacks at the end of the mountain are called Reynisdrangar.
We had continuous heavy skies and recurring showers our entire time here but the grey only added to the atmosphere I think. There's something very primeval about this place.
This shot was converted to B&W with the DxO Film Pack, emulating Kodak's T-Max 100 film.

As we exit the fog/ash cloud in Iceland's southernmost town, Vík í Mýrdal (commonly called Vík), we got some incredible pictures looking back at it.
