Vík í Mýrdal est un petit village de 300 habitants au sud de l'Islande. Il est connu pour ses magnifiques plages de sable noir, ses colonnes de laves sculptées par la mer, ses orgues basaltique, ses colonies d'oiseaux marins... mais aussi pour être l'endroit le plus pluvieux d'Islande !
Nous avons pourtant eu un temps superbe là bas, des températures presques estivales... et nous nous sommes baignés dans l'eau (plutôt fraîche !!) sous le regard étonné des islandais et des touristes.

Vík í Mýrdal is a small 300 inhabitants village in Iceland. It is known for its magnificent black sand beaches, its basalt colums sculpted by the sea, its sea birds colonies.. but also to be the most rainy place in Iceland !
Despite this we had perfect weather there, almost summer temperatures... and we went swimming in the (so cold !!) sea while tourists and icelandic people were staring at us with a bit of astonishment !
Don't forget to watch out for the local screening of this amazing doco by Brazillian artist Vik Muniz. It is about the Garbage dump in Rio - I think it is opening in Australia about April 2011- here is a link for more info-

Campsite at Vik. This was a pretty sweet campsite. This was also my fist 'night' in Iceland. I say night because there was no darkness. This was pretty much as dark as it got. I learned later in my trip that the best way to travel in Iceland is to travel on your own hours, don't even bother with sleeping by 10 or 12 or 2; it makes no difference. But car + tent or sleeping in the car is *the* way to go in Iceland
Campsites in Iceland is also pretty sweet. They're everywhere, and most of them are pretty well equipped. The only downside is that they're fully exposed. Trees don't really exist in the country. The best you'll get are some scattered bushes.

This was one of my favorite spots in Iceland, and, again, the original picture didn't show even half the colour and textures in the cliff. This is so much better.

Log Cabin Cruise Night 5/27/15.
First second generation Gallardo I've seen, first Lamborghini in Rosso Vik I've seen. Beautiful car and beautiful sound.
An interpretation that slowly grew as I tweaked in Lightroom and PS. It started in B&W, was duotoned and then curves and sharpening.
I wasn't planning on stopping at Vik as it's quite limited what you can do at high tide and it tends to be busy with tourists. But driving from Snaefellsness peninsula to Jokulsarlon area I had to have a sunrise somewhere and the weather forecast put me here with the only clear skies south of the coastline. So, not a very original composition but the lovely colours in the sky during the sunrise made it a worthwhile stop in the end...
