Winter in Iceland: freshly fallen snow totally changed the well-known sceneries along the southern coast of Iceland. Usually, the volcanic beach at Vík is pitch black: the snow created really interesting contrasts!
Vík í Mýrdal, ou tout simplement Vík, au sud de l'Islande.
Vík í Mýrdal, or simply Vík, south of Iceland.

Late day light in the town of Vik (Vík í Mýrdal); the southernmost village in Iceland. The famous sea stacks can be seen poking out of the Atlantic.
This shot paints a pretty picture of Vik, but it's the story we heard on our way back out of town that I will remember. We bumped up our departure from the southern coast by a little to avoid blizzard conditions that were approaching Vik. We made it through before the bad weather arrived. Some others weren't so lucky. A story was relayed to us of a rental car that broke down on the hill leading out of town. The passenger side door was ripped off by the wind, and then the blizzard proceeded to fill the car up with snow. That's what you call a storm.
Thanks for looking!
