Vignette applied in PSD

Dear diary,

Today I saw the new girl walk by, she is indeed as beautiful as the others said. Too bad I didn't pay attention to what I was supposed to do ... one of the sharks bit my hand right off!

I`ve made a handy rhinocam to see more than 24x36 frame. Let see to the down left corner ... Look what we lose ...

This was supposed to be a "fullscreen vig", but I just didn't have the time. =( Which is a shame, because I couldn't include a crowd in this scaled down version. Also I might not be able to update tomorrow. 360 (Only FIVE more left!!!!!!)

Our Granddaughter Ashley still poses for Grampa.

Vignettes have always been a cool way to portray pretty girls, bridal couples, Older folks, awards etc. etc. in Photoshop, but it has never been this easy. Here is how its is done.

Bring up the image you want to use.

Click the lock on the Background layer, or drag the lock to the trash. Hold down the Control/Command key and click on the image to highlight it. Hold the Control/Command key and drag it below your image, fill it with white. You now have your image over a white background.

Just below your Rectangle marquee tool is your Elliptical Marquee use this to make the Vignette selection on your image. If you prefer a circle just hold down the

Shift key. You can use the mouse to adjust the selection.

Now open your Property palette. Usually it is over the layers palette. If not go to Windows to open it.

Now put a layer mask on the Image layer. The picture disappears except the Selction you made.

Now in the Properties palette you should see Density and Feather sliders. If you don't see these look on the top and you have two small boxes the right one is the Mask click it.

Now sliding the feather slider to the right should give you the feathered edge for your Vignette.

I realize this sounds a bit complex, but once you do it you will see how really easy it is.

Here is the vignette Tutorial I wrote 15 years ago in case you are having any trouble with this one:

A small vignette inspired by the beautiful and atmospheric environment of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. There's no need to introduce the STALKER series—it’s widely recognized and currently making waves in the media.

While it may not be perfect, the game still manages to engage millions of gamers around the world. I’m proud of the developers and how the final product turned out.

Just two slightly different exposures and edits. Fun shooting pretty well straight up and seeing the trees "converge" at the top! Can't wait for better weather so I can REALLY try this!

A small vignette representing the Philae landing on the surface of 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet.

This building was created for a challenge on my LUG, Comunidade 0937, where he was asked for a representation of an important event of the year in 2014.

Interesting vignette effect on this portrait of a slightly grumpy looking kid. 1860s CDV without photographer's mark.

A little vignette.

Why Flora? - well it's like this, I know diddly squat about flowers other than they tend to vary in price in relation to what 'day' it is...Mothers Day, St Valentines Day etc etc.

If your tagged, You've inspired me.

Recently visited Rangamati to shoot some new dresses of Sozpodor Indigenous Textile, designed by Tenzing Chakma. It was a great experience to work with the team.

All 5 of my Rainbow Outposts so far. So far we have Castle (Red), Western (Orange), City/farm (Yellow), Space (Green), and Pirates (Blue). This series started with the Castle Outpost, which is one of my most successful MOCs ever, winning "Best Small Creation" in the Castle category at BBTB 2014 and eventually travelling all the way to Billund to be displayed at the Innovation House. If you like these, keep an eye on my page because I'll finish the series soon with a violet one, I have a few ideas in mind for that. EDIT: these 5 MOCs won "Best Scene" at BrickSlopes 2017! Also, I've since completed the 6th, violet one and all six were displayed at Bricks by the Bay, you can find a picture of the violet vignette in my photostream.
