The Hatter is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll's 1865 book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its 1871 sequel Through the Looking-Glass. He is very often referred to as the Mad Hatter, though this term was never used by Carroll. The phrase "mad as a hatter" pre-dates Carroll's works. The Hatter and the March Hare are referred to as "both mad" by the Cheshire Cat, in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in the sixth chapter titled "Pig and Pepper".
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
The March Hare and the Hatter put the Dormouse's head in a teapot, by Sir John Tenniel.
The Hatter character, alongside all the other fictional beings, first appears in Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In it, the Hatter explains to Alice that he and the March Hare are always having tea because when he tried to sing for the foul-tempered Queen of Hearts, she sentenced him to death for "murdering the time", but he escapes decapitation. In retaliation, Time (referred to as "he" by the Hatter) halts himself in respect to the Hatter, keeping him stuck at 6:00 pm (or 18:00) forever.
When Alice arrives at the tea party, the Hatter is characterised by switching places on the table at any given time, making short, personal remarks, asking unanswerable riddles and reciting nonsensical poetry, all of which eventually drives Alice away. The Hatter appears again as a witness at the Knave of Hearts' trial, where the Queen appears to recognise him as the singer she sentenced to death, and the King of Hearts also cautions him not to be nervous or he will have him "executed on the spot".
Through the Looking-Glass
The character also appears briefly in Carroll's 1871 Through the Looking-Glass, the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, under the name "Hatta" – alongside the March Hare under the name "Haigha", which is pronounced "hare". Sir John Tenniel's illustration depicts Hatta as sipping from a teacup as he did in the original novel. Alice does not comment on whether Hatta is the Hatter of her earlier dream.

For the Earth Day (April 22), one of my Limited Editions, to delight friends, visitors, birds & parrots enthusiasts: my very best photo of the newly born siblings: Charlotte, Avanti, Pablito, Fernando, Aleandro, Valentina. Here, they are playing and chatting in the garden, looking at me so tenderly and almost camouflaged in the meadow among the wild yellow flowers.
They just had their 2nd month birthday, Fernando, the oldest, is 70 days old today. In the future, in less than one month, their first moulting will be completed and they will appear in all their splendour, although I find them already beautiful :-)
Up-dates: the babies can all fly now but are not yet weaned although they begun to independently eat seeds but still need few more weeks hand feeding with baby food too.
Hand feeding domestic birds helps them a lot to develop confidence, trust humans and never be frightened by them, which is fairly fair if humans want to live with parrots. Of course, treating them as honorable members of the family and this also means that, when the owners are on holiday, they will come together and be on holiday too!
Ring-Necked Parakeets (Psittacula Kameri), are not meant to live neither in cages nor in aviaries. If you project to adopt one or two, prepare to give them spare time free in your home to fly and feel at ease, in much larger spaces than aviaries. Then, for eating and sleeping they can stay in a large cage, I would discourage aviaries for sanity and hygienic reasons: they need a super clean environment. Cages must be cleaned many times in the week, they always need fresh new water, lots of fruits, legumes, lettuce, good corn, cereals, mineral salts and, of course, lots of seeds.
And they need safe toys, ladders and swings, because they need and love to play and exercize !
A Parakeet can be a great friend for pet therapy or as a life companion. Parrots are pure joy, provided they are loved, cared and respected. There are many fake legends on Parakeets, as for instance that they can repeat sounds but not speak: I have a couple of Parakeets who can speak very well, the male, Achille, can also sing, whistle tunes and jingles, dance and perform in many ways, like sending sounding kisses (his own private initiative, lol), and the female, Agnese, can speak as well as him. She, though, prefers to be in the audience when Aki performs his ballets... He says "Gimme little kiss" to Agnese and she replies with a true kiss and viceversa ;-) And he does with me too! When on my shoulder, he taps his beak on my cheek, speaks and ask me a kiss and then he comes close to my lips and give me many sonorous kisses but also wants to be reciprocated :-)
Parakeets are very social and interactive indeed ! They have feelings and the great thing is that they are able to express them !

-------------------------------------------
SHOULD FRESH FISH BE CHILLED OR FROZEN?
Fresh fish - regardless of its goodness and authenticity - is vulnerable to attack by parasites, the most common of which is Anisakis. These can pose a health risk to consumers if the fish is eaten raw, marinated or partially cooked. Conversely, both cooking and freezing are able to kill parasites and thus ensure the safety of fish products against this risk.
The European legislator, in order to better protect the health of consumers, has imposed on food sector operators to subject all fishery products intended to be eaten raw, or not completely cooked, to heat abatement.
Fresh fish and cephalopods (e.g. cuttlefish, squid, octopus, squid) must be subjected to systematic killing also by restaurateurs or other public operators, only in the case in which they are served raw or marinated or partially cooked.

Zocodover Square is a square in the Spanish city of Toledo, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. It was the nerve centre of the city for most of its history and acted as its main square. Juan de Herrera designed part of it during the reign of Philip II.
The origin of the name Zocodover comes from the Arabic sūq ad-dawābb, which means "market for beasts of burden". This square was also the place where bulls were run and where the cucañas were organised during the town's festivals. It is, therefore, the nerve centre of the town's social life since medieval times. Inquisition acts of faith and public executions of prisoners were also held in Zocodover.
When a fire destroyed the old square on 29 October 1589, it was decided to build a new one. In 1854, an ambitious project was drawn up by the technician Santiago Martín Ruiz to reorganise the Plaza de Zocodover and transform it into a rectangular porticoed plaza.
There must have been several attempts to widen the plaza, although these two are the most notable.
The first and oldest dates back to the time of the Catholic Monarchs, approved by Isabel de Castilla herself in 1502. The proposal came from the Toledo city council and all its bodies were authorised to remodel it, given that the plaza was too narrow and, since the Alcázar of Toledo lacked a suitable plaza, they wanted to join both up to the front façade of the building. To do this, a wall would be raised to overcome the difference in level up to the San Miguel gate and its characteristics were also regulated, among which the construction of the typical arcades of Castilian architecture stands out. This colossal work was never carried out, since, taking into account the technical possibilities of the time and the high gradient from Zocodover to the main façade of the Alcázar (23 metres), the difficulty was very burdensome, adding to this the fact that in order to lower the ground it would have been necessary to excavate in solid rock.
The second extension was carried out and dates from the beginning of the 17th century. It consisted of the demolition of a series of low-value houses that seem to have hindered the full view of Zocodover from its upper part to the lower part and vice versa. No more arcades were ever built and this is probably due to the fact that they did not want to take up space from the square.
Today Zocodover is one of the places in the city where many events and celebrations take place, and it also serves as a popular meeting and enjoyment point for the people of Toledo and, above all, an obligatory stop for the thousands of tourists who line the streets of the historic centre throughout the year.

The more the heat continues, the more fresh is the desire.
On the other hand it is not possible to always live in air-conditioned environments, and I do not think it is a good thing to go from hot to cold and vice versa.

The Zahara-El Gastor reservoir is located in the northeast of the province of Cádiz. It belongs to the Guadalete-Barbate River Basin District. It encompasses land belonging to the municipalities of Zahara de la Sierra and El Gastor.
Prior to its construction, there was a bridge of artistic value, known as the "Roman Bridge of Zahara de la Sierra," which was dismantled when the reservoir was created. Despite promises to rebuild it, nothing remains. Some sources suggest a Roman origin.
Images of the reservoir frequently appear on television as a tourist attraction of Andalusia. The reservoir is a major tourist attraction in Zahara, not only for its aesthetic appeal (the reservoir can be seen from the balcony of the main square, and the town is reflected in its waters from the hills), but also for outdoor activities such as swimming events (cross-country swims, triathlons), kayaking, pedal boating, and fishing competitions, at the La Puente Recreational Area (El Mogote) and the El Higuerón Leisure and Sports Center. There are also scenic routes around the reservoir (hiking, horseback riding, and cycling) from the El Higuerón Leisure and Sports Center to the Arroyomolinos - La Playita Recreational Area and vice versa. On the shores of the reservoir, there is a restaurant with panoramic views at the La Puente Recreational Area (El Mogote). The Arroyomolinos - La Playita Recreational Area is located in Arroyomolinos, a tributary of the Guadalete River that flows into the Zahara-El Gastor Reservoir, within the municipality of Zahara. the Sierra.

ENGLISH:
The Treaty of Tordesillas, signed in Tordesillas, Spain, on 7 June 1494, and ratified in Setúbal, Portugal, divided the newly discovered lands outside Europe between Portugal and the Crown of Castile, along a meridian 370 leagues west of the Cape Verde islands, off the west coast of Africa. That line of demarcation was about halfway between Cape Verde (already Portuguese) and the islands visited by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage (claimed for Castile and León), named in the treaty as Cipangu and Antillia (Cuba and Hispaniola).
The lands to the east would belong to Portugal and the lands to the west to Castile, modifying an earlier bull by Pope Alexander VI. The treaty was signed by Spain on 2 July 1494, and by Portugal on 5 September 1494. The other side of the world was divided a few decades later by the Treaty of Zaragoza, signed on 22 April 1529, which specified the antimeridian to the line of demarcation specified in the Treaty of Tordesillas.
The treaty was included by UNESCO in 2007 in its Memory of the World Programme. Originals of both treaties are kept at the General Archive of the Indies in Spain and at the Torre do Tombo National Archive in Portugal.

Last summer during my holidays I met those two Angel's faces right in the same place and at the same time! Pareidolically speaking, I recognize in the traits of the putto bust those of the young man that I saw close by this statue and or viceversa :-)
Left: Arch. Dario Perrone, architect and lyric tenor.
Right: Baroque bust of putto in stone and plaster, carved and hand painted placed at the side altarpiece dating back to the 17th Ct., situated in the Parrosh church of a village in Southern Italy, Puglia Region.
The occasion was a ceremony in devotion to the patron Saint of the little town (San Donato).
I heard Dario singing as soloist in the church choir before seeing him, amazed by his celestial voice... Later on I met him in the village square and asked him if he would have liked to be portrayed. He accepted with pleasure giving me permission of publication too.
Differently from what people may believe to be the average appearance of the "typical" southern Italian, South Italy is full of native inhabitants who can quietly eradicate this inconsistent cliché of ppl with very tanned or olive skin, dark hair and black eyes.
As a matter of fact, it's full of blond people with green or blue eyes, lol. This said, not to diminish the splendour & beauty of the Mediterraneans that can be more tanned and have darker hair but, if you will visit Italy, you will understand by yourself :-)
I think I may share more portraits of Dario in the future...
Coming back to this diptych, reviewing my photos taken that day, a certain parallelism appeared to me rather glaring ...or, maybe, it's just my imagination; nontheless, it appeals to me.
I been in the mountains today and I took some strange photos, can't wait to upload them!
Therefore, I'm a lil late but, anyway, I wish you a great Happyphany!

Reflections on the ferry crossing the IJssel River near Deventer. The Dutch lyrics below are an excerpt from the song "Heen en Weer" by Drs. P. These are (quite brilliant) reflections on the ferry phenomenon. If you don't speak Dutch, it's worth translating the lyrics of the entire song.
