The Roman bridge of Córdoba is located over the Guadalquivir river as it passes through Córdoba, and joins the neighborhood of Campo de la Verdad with the Barrio de la Catedral. Also known as the Old Bridge, since it was the only bridge in the city for twenty centuries, until the construction of the San Rafael Bridge in the middle of the 20th century. On January 9, 2008, the largest remodeling that the Roman bridge has had in its history was inaugurated.

Since 1931, the bridge, together with the Puerta del Puente and the Calahorra tower, has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest in the Monument category.1 In addition, it is part of the historic center of Córdoba, which was declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco in 1994.

Aulus Hircio, soldier and historian of the general of the Roman Republic, Julius Caesar, writes that the soldier upon arrival in the city in the year 45 a. C. after the battle of Munda, he had to cross the river creating a temporary passage with stones. This is not to say that there weren't other Roman bridges nearby, but this bridge at the southern entrance to the city could not have existed earlier. Therefore, it is usually dated from the time of the first emperor Augustus (27 BC-14 AD), when Córdoba acquired the title of Colonia Patricia and expanded towards the Guadalquivir.3

It has a length of about 331 meters and is made up of 16 arches, although it originally had 17.

It was one of the most important means of entry to the city from the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula as it was the only point to cross the river without using any type of boat. Probably the Via Augusta that went from Rome to Cádiz passed through it.

At the beginning of the Muslim domination, around the year 720, is when we find references to the first great reconstruction by the walí Al-Samh ibn Malik al-Khawlani.4 We find at its southern end the Calahorra defensive tower and at its extreme north the bridge gate. The latter was built by the architect Hernán Ruiz II in 1572, mistakenly called the Arc de Triomphe by the people of Cordoba, despite the fact that it never had this function, but rather was one of the gates of the old wall.

In the center of the bridge is the triumph of San Rafael, the oldest of the Triumphs, dating from 1651, the work of the sculptor Bernabé Gómez del Río.

In more recent times, the Roman Bridge became the access to the city for travelers who came from the south of it, for which reason the southern faithful of the city (office at the entrance of the towns in which consumption rights were paid). In addition, the Bridge was an integral part of the N-4 national highway, being crossed by travelers coming down from the center of Spain to the south and vice versa.

On May 1, 2004, it was converted into a pedestrian bridge, after the construction of the San Rafael bridges in 1953 and the more recent Miraflores bridge in 2003, prohibiting motorized traffic from its first vehicles almost a century ago.

--------------------------------------------

The metropolitan cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is the main Catholic place of worship in Siena, Tuscany, home of the metropolitan archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino; the building is located in the square of the same name.

Built in Italian Romanesque-Gothic style, it is one of the most significant churches built in this style in Italy. Construction began around 1220 and completed in about 1370, by various artists including Giovanni Pisano and Camaino di Crescentino.

The façade, all in white marble with some decorations in red from Siena and serpentine from Prato, can be divided into two halves, lower and upper, referable to two distinct construction phases. The richness of the decoration, predominantly sculptural, hides irregularities and asymmetries derived from the long construction phase to which many designers worked.

Upper part

The upper part of the facade is the work of Camaino di Crescentino (father of the more famous Tino di Camaino), who worked there between about 1299 and 1317. Once the paternity of the project was attributed to Giovanni di Cecco, who would have worked there after 1376, on the basis of a document that spoke of works "to the facade in Piazza del Duomo, the bishop's logo", which was thought to refer to the facade of the cathedral and instead referred to the facade of the Bishop's Palace, also on the same square and also the bishop's home. The discovery of a document from 1310 that incites the creation of a mosaic for the central cusp and three previously ignored fourteenth-century chronicles, which date back to 1317 completing the façade, have clarified this aspect.

Camaino di Crescentino gave the facade its present three-spired appearance. A beautiful oculus opens in the center, framed by Gothic niches containing the busts of Apostles and Prophets that pay homage to the Madonna and Child, identifiable in the upper central niche (the originals are in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo). At the sides two pillars frame this structure and end in pinnacles and then in very thin spiers, accentuating the building's upward momentum. Laterally there are two orders of loggias, while the whole is surmounted by three golden cusps. The three golden mosaics, depicting the Presentation of Mary at the Temple from left to right, the Coronation of the Virgin and the Nativity of Jesus, were performed in Venice in 1878, designed by Alessandro Franchi. The oculus bears a stained-glass window by Pastorino dei Pastorini (mid 16th century), depicting the Last Supper and visible from the inside.

Overall, the upper façade is in flowery Gothic style. Around the beginning of the fourteenth century, the Sienese architect Lorenzo Maitani began work on the façade of the Duomo of Orvieto, visibly influenced by the Sienese upper façade. However, since this style is applied to the entire façade, rather than to the upper part alone, the façade of the Orvieto cathedral is an improved version of the Sienese facade. It is not entirely clear which of the two was a model for the other, but having the works of Camaino di Crescentino anticipated by a few years those of Lorenzo Maitani and having the city of Siena more influenced than that of Orvieto, it is likely that it was Siena acts as a model for Orvieto, rather than vice versa. In any case, an architectural defect is evident in Siena, with the pillars on the sides of the rose window that do not coincide with those on the sides of the median portal, in the lower half.

The Church of San Ciro di Maredolce is an ex-Christian building that stands on the eastern outskirts of the Sicilian capital and is clearly visible from the A-19 (highway that connects Palermo to Catania and vice versa). According to La Duca it is probable that in this place - known to the chronicles for the presence of fossils of animals found in the cave of the mountain - pagan rites once took place. Among these there was probably the feast of Maredolce celebrated on August 15th of each vintage.

It was 1656 when the chapel of the Assumption was replaced by a small church dedicated to the Madonna della Grazia, a work financed by Don Girolamo Matranga. The foundation stone was laid on February 5, 1736 and then blessed in 1737.

According to the sources of the Marquis of Villabianca, the founder was the barber Vincenzo Camarda. In the Palermo diary, the latter earned praise for having lived 109 years.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Hatter

The Hatter is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll's 1865 book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its 1871 sequel Through the Looking-Glass. He is very often referred to as the Mad Hatter, though this term was never used by Carroll. The phrase "mad as a hatter" pre-dates Carroll's works. The Hatter and the March Hare are referred to as "both mad" by the Cheshire Cat, in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in the sixth chapter titled "Pig and Pepper".

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

The March Hare and the Hatter put the Dormouse's head in a teapot, by Sir John Tenniel.

The Hatter character, alongside all the other fictional beings, first appears in Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In it, the Hatter explains to Alice that he and the March Hare are always having tea because when he tried to sing for the foul-tempered Queen of Hearts, she sentenced him to death for "murdering the time", but he escapes decapitation. In retaliation, Time (referred to as "he" by the Hatter) halts himself in respect to the Hatter, keeping him stuck at 6:00 pm (or 18:00) forever.

When Alice arrives at the tea party, the Hatter is characterised by switching places on the table at any given time, making short, personal remarks, asking unanswerable riddles and reciting nonsensical poetry, all of which eventually drives Alice away. The Hatter appears again as a witness at the Knave of Hearts' trial, where the Queen appears to recognise him as the singer she sentenced to death, and the King of Hearts also cautions him not to be nervous or he will have him "executed on the spot".

Through the Looking-Glass

The character also appears briefly in Carroll's 1871 Through the Looking-Glass, the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, under the name "Hatta" – alongside the March Hare under the name "Haigha", which is pronounced "hare". Sir John Tenniel's illustration depicts Hatta as sipping from a teacup as he did in the original novel. Alice does not comment on whether Hatta is the Hatter of her earlier dream.

Reflected in the starboard - Reflejada en estribor

Starboard is a boat, and any means of transportation on water, right in the direction of motion or, more accurately, the right side toward the bow (the front of the boat). The left side is called port.

The reason that the boats are given names to two different sides to the right and left is to avoid confusion, since the crew will move forward and backward, and the crew member who looks back on the right speak to refiréndose left, and vice versa. Andalusia called the sides of the manner described above, there is no confusion.

The word starboard comes from the Norwegian language - or rather the old Nordic, the language of the Vikings; štyri = helm, "side of the rudder." In the old rowing boats still no rudders fixed at the central post, so that the helmsman was using a paddle with a blade and especially great to run the boat. We did the paddle plunging into the water on the right side of the boat. Hence we call the right side of the rudder.

At present, English is still used the term steerboard, but has evolved to Starboard.

Signaling starboard is green. During the day they are plates with these colors on both sides and at night those lights are lit. In this way, a ship that is located some distance from another boat can easily recognize if it is approaching or is removed.

All items must be numbered board, if in the starboard band, have odd numbers (eg fire extinguishers, emergency exits, etc.)

Symmetry is a characteristic feature of geometrical forms, system, equations, and other material objects or abstract entities, related to its invariance under certain transformations, movements or exchanges.

In formal terms, we say that an object is symmetric with respect to a given mathematical operation, if, when applied to the object, this operation does not change the object or its appearance. Two objects are symmetrical each other with respect to a given group of operations if one is obtained by some other operations (and vice versa). In 2D geometry the main kinds of symmetry of interest are those concerning the isometries of a Euclidean space: translations, rotations, reflections and glide reflections.

Spanish based artist duo, are recognized for their ability to ignite relationships between art, sculpture, architecture, space and social contexts. Their style adopts a focus which is both beautiful and performative, firm in its discussion and totally the perfect deconstruction of classic art and contemporary urban art, in order to create a new fusion, which whilst faithful to its classic heritage, creates a new and exciting vision of art. Pichi&Avo are one since 2007, fleeing from the self-centeredness of graffiti, united to create a single piece of work, reciting a conceptually urban poetry, born from the artistic formalism of the street, transferring fragments of a wall to the canvas and from the canvas to the wall in a personal version.

The world drifts, aware of its own daze, caught in a massive maneuver toward shipwreck. Old values fade as new ones rise, spitting shrill blasts like the trumpets of Jericho. An abandoned shell, an urban skeleton, the last breath of solitude. The death of the new through the old, and of the old through the new. Birth and collapse. A whole that amounts to nothing.
