Leftover steak bits and a light pan gravy on white bread with some hand-mashed potatoes and a bit of frozen plastic pack veggies. Chives from the garden.

A tipical Chinese face, mid- agedman weathered, full of stories but not give up. I was travelling at Wanlan, a small town of Zhenfeng country in Guizhou Province, China. The area produce coal and the bus station is the town center where people buy vegitables and enjoy some local foods. This man's apparence and concentration on someone beside him, draw my attention, and this photo was taken. I used a nikon D300 and AF 24-120 len

bandakka theldala, vatakolu suddata & pipingna takkali salada -- (some things i had for lunch today, 5th April, with rice)
these are sri lankan veggies. bandakka is called lady's fingers, okra in English or okura in japan {thanks to Anzu for telling me of this; and here it is sautéed with chillie and spices), vatakolu is a kind of gourd i think, (and its simmered in turmeric laced coconut milk for this dish), and pipingna takkali salada is a cumber, tomato and onion salad, dressed with vinegar and black pepper.
this is a very simple lunch, in srilanka
i can't wait halloween to come. i'm not planning to have a party, but trying to test-create some feast - just in case vlad drăculea visited my home on the night. ;)

Photo taken at the farmer's market in Campbell, California. I hesitated to photograph carrots because they are very ordinary, but the roots, and blue bands caught my eye here.
The lighting was really good here, because the white canopy over the vegitable stall was a natural light defuser.

My maple syrup production is almost over for this year and it has been one of the best I've ever had. From 9 taps in 5 trees I have harvested 51+ gallons (830 cups) of sap and produced 1.94 gallons of syrup. I was able to get the taps in to harvest the super sweet early sap which really helped in the sap to syrup ratio. Yes, I still have the spiles out but the sap run is very slow.
I probably will pull them late next week.
