A buttery vegan brioche made without butter, eggs, or dairy milk. Despite having none of that, it has a ton of buttery flavor and fluffy texture. I was really quite surprised and pleased with the outcome.

Sunday morning was slow and lazy, so I whipped up some of Fatfree Vegan's mini crustless quiches and made some of my divine raw Caesar dressing for a great salad.
Perfect way to kick off a lovely afternoon of art museums and family.
Just a little vegan seitan wrap for lunch today. Yum! So many veggies, seitan from Sweet Earth, and a Gouda slice by Follow Your Heart.

Pretty vegan Easter cupcakes from Sticky Fingers Bakery in Washington, DC.

Cabbage mixed vegetables, chickpea curry, pea-and-tofu and flaxseed flatbread. All from "The Indian Vegan Kitchen" by Madhu Gadia.
Dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with syrup.
Prepare batter in bowl by combining 1/4 cup fine ground chickpea flour, 1-2 teaspoons corn starch and 1/2 cup soy milk. Mix throughly (makes enough batter to cover 4 pieces of bread so adjust the recipe as need for your portions). Dip both sides of bread slices and cook in skillet as usual. We highly recommend using a good grade of virgin coconut oil to cook with.
Vegan French Toast has become one of our favorites, it's easy and high in protein. We make it quite often with grain breads but this particular batch we used sweet French bread and the results were especially appealing to the eye.

Vegan chef Stephanie Audet started as a line cook in gluten, dairy, and meat-heavy fine dining restaurants. She has been vegan for 8 years. "Vegan food's a lot about the presentation. I don't have problems with this anymore," says Audet.

For the August SLW: I don't usually like putting two pictures together because I think that they general have a greater impact individually, but I like how these two highlight the process of creating, and then the end product. I also try to avoid photographing white in general since I can never get everything at the right exposure, but I think that this was a fairly successful photo shoot by all accounts.
Minneapolis is home to world's first vegan butcher shop called Herbivorous Butcher. They make all kinds of "meats" which are plant-based and many are gluten free. Finally got a chance to visit that shop and buy some "meats". They were selling vegan egg on their shelves.
