BANK OF CANADA VAULT
The Bank of Canada kept a large quantity of gold to guarantee the value of Canadian currency. During a nuclear war, the gold had to be kept safe from destruction and radiation.
Until relatively recently, the value of paper money depended on a government's reserve of real gold. This separate vault would have guarded Canada's reserve during a nuclear attack.
Workers and personnel referred to the top-secret vault only as the "Special Storage Area" during construction. The smaller door needed two people to open it, which equalized the pressure inside the vault. This allowed four people, each with different combinations to the four locks, to open the vault's main door. A sentry used the mirrors in the corners to take in a 360-degree view of the entire exterior structure.
The doors are coated in special grease to prevent corrosion. Please refrain from touching them, as fingerprints can damage the protective coating.
Moving tons of gold to the Bunker would have taken a huge effort and many vehicles. At the Bank of Canada, Miss E. Thompson, Audit Representative, checks a gold delivery.
A corridor connects the vault to the main Bunker. With few open spaces in the Bunker, this corridor also functioned as a fitness area after the vault was decommissioned in 1971.

Creating value for nature and people with NWFP.
Participatory approaches. Plenary Session 3.
The objectives of the session will be:
• To exchange views on successful approaches to participatory approaches, social innovations, and entrepreneurship in relation to NWFPs;
• To get inspired by existing relevant experiences in green entrepreneurship;
• To discuss the need for new approaches to governance like those based in territorial animation and social innovation.
The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is hosting the Sixth edition of the Mediterranean Forest Week (VIth MWF) at the Grand Hills Hotel, Broumana, on 1–5 April 2019. The weeklong event brings together policy and decision makers, forest administrators, researchers, practitioners, donors, civil society organizations, and social and environmental based non–governmental organizations to share and promote the use of forest–based solutions to assist Mediterranean countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
