Pig Out !! Pig Out !! Literally was a huge amount of pork. Dinner at Las Costillas del Sancho, selected from a Trip-advisor recommendation.
Our restaurant review:
Went for dinner on a Monday evening with a reservation for 7:30 made by our Centro hotel. Taxi ride required, meters in use at this time. Allow 20 minutes, about $40 Pesos. The restaurant has 3 locations. 2 in Aguascalientes and one in Zacatecas.
The restaurant is nicely configured, good spacing between tables, uniformed waiters and nice table setting with linens. We were early dinners so the staff were all over us at first but after the restaurant began to fill, the service settled down. The area is reportedly known for its wine but this restaurant only offered one local red and it was the most expensive on the list at $695 Pesos. It is a Tabla #1 Malbec from Santa Elena vineyard. Had to try the local wine. it was a good choice. Full body, nice flavour.
Started the dinner with their version of Azteca soup and 3 hearts salad. The soup came with the broth and add-ons separate. Broth could have had a bit more tomato flavouring but overall it was good. We were advised the salad was grande so two of us shared one and it was still grande and very tasty. A definite go to choice.
The restaurant specialty is their ribs and that is what we came for. Huge portion of pork ribs. They do not fall off the bone but they were very meaty, tender and tasty. They come with a choice of 2 BBQ sauce flavours. We tried the standard and plum. First was a good choice, the plum a bit too sweet. You also can select sides. The baked potatoes were OK, the spinach salad had too much salty dressing.
All in all we enjoyed the meal, service and decor. The bathrooms were also clean and the kitchen visible from the dining area was spotlessly clean.
The one BIG disappointment was they allow smoking in the dining room. They designated a section for smoking but that was totally useless. They need to become smoke free before we would return.
My thought was to try and take a close up of the moon through the spotting scope. Absolutely did not work. There is probably a way to do it but I haven't found it yet.
I was originally going to take this picture inside my Chancellor's Office MOC, but realized that there wasn't enough space for it.

Five minutes later Calethia and I were cowering under a bridge in the Fern Dell section of Griffith Park, stuck in place by the hail coming down from high above.
Which just meant, instead of pictures out in the forest, it was pictures of folks hiding from the rain, it was laughing as we watched a light drizzle transform, in a matter of seconds, into a flash flood.
It was feeling bad for the tiny dog in its tiny sweater, waiting with its owner for the rain to ease. That tiny sweater, by the way? Useless.
Even when it finally did ease up a bit, there was still too much coming down for any proper photos, so after making a mad dash for the car, we just hung out and snapped a few.
And then I kidnapped her for a cross-town shoot with Jenny. Because I tend not to let a little thing like NATURE get in the way of me taking some pictures.
This motel in Saline is so super interesting but unfortunately there is no way in. I was sad to see that the little storage shed in back of this place had burned down and that the wonderful storm doors that I shot on a trip here last fall had been torn off.

Another useless reflection. I initially liked the depth of the reflection inside the building with the "Grande Arche" at the extremity. Then with some crop in PP the W showed-up.

The teeny ones have emery in so they are slightly more functional than the bigger ones.
Bigger is relative though - they're still pretty small. It's the Summer, Wimbledon is on, I'm English and what's Wimbledon without strawberries?
