Kodak Retina IIIC, Schneider Kreuznach Xenon C 2/50mm, Orwo UN54, Rodinal
The last roll with my IIIC did only produce a few exposures, the shutter cocking mechanism via film transport lever did fail, rendering the camera useless during a hike in late autumn, probably the shutter cocking rack, the known weak point of many Retinas. I will try to repair it, already got a spare part..
My custom Ultimate Machine (also known as a useless machine) built using the new Mindstorms EV3. You really have to watch the video to see what it does, otherwise it's just a pretty black box with a switch on it.
Building instructions and the Mindstorms project file can be found on my website: www.truedimensions.com/instructions
The LuuMa EV3 is a bit more elaborate than the typical ultimate machine, featuring 6 different responses for turning the switch off and 2 evasive maneuvers for trying to prevent the switch from being turned on in the first place.
I had a blast building this one, and programming the different responses. Not to mention playing with it once it was complete. I can't wait to put it out at a show and watch people interact with it.
I've been pretty impressed with the EV3, although I have encountered the odd glitch or two with both the hardware and software. Hopefully these get ironed out in future updates.

Dear friend, here are 5 things you should know:
1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, โNo one is righteousโnot even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.โ (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)
2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adamโs sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)
3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)
4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you canโt take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are Godโs masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)
5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have Godโs Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)
Read the Bible for yourself. Allow the Lord to speak to you through his Word. YOUR ETERNITY IS AT STAKE!
Sincerely,
Someone who cares about you

The Forest Service recently announced plans to selectively log old-growth forest and chaparral across 755 acres deep in the Ventura County backcountry. The agency quietly released the proposal in late May amid a pandemic, economic crisis, and period of civil unrest, offering the public a single 30-day period to submit comments. Officials indicated that they hope to use a loophole to approve the project without an environmental assessment or environmental impact statement.
The project would allow the logging of centuries-old trees, up to five feet in diameter, and the clearance of rare old-growth chaparral along six miles of the prominent ridge known as Pine Mountain stretching from Highway 33 to Reyes Peak. The area is a popular recreation destination beloved by hikers and climbers.
Despite the projectโs massive scale, the Forest Service intends to use two controversial loopholes to bypass requirements under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to conduct a detailed study of potential impacts to the areaโs unique ecosystems. These loopholes would also limit the publicโs ability to voice their concerns while eliminating the official objection process that helps reduce the potential for litigation.
โOnce again, the Trump administration has shown its willingness and desire to avoid conducting the level of environmental review needed to ensure that places like Pine Mountain are protected from damaging and unnecessary projects such as this one,โ said Los Padres ForestWatch conservation director Bryant Baker. โTo make matters worse, the Forest Serviceโs use of loopholes for this project has diminished the publicโs ability to participate in the decision-making processโand they made their announcement at a time when citizens are focused on the COVID-19 crisis and fighting racial injustice.โ
The ridge is home to some of the most diverse and unique habitats in the Los Padres National Forest. Pine Mountain hosts the greatest diversity of coniferous tree species in Ventura County, which occur next to large expanses of rare old-growth chaparral. Altogether, the ridge is home to over 400 species of native plants, including dozens that are rare or sensitive. As a biodiversity hotspot, the area is also home to several species of wildlife that depend on the mountainโs unique ecosystems. Mountain lions, black bears, bobcats, and numerous species of birds and small mammals can be found in and around the project area.
The agency has not confirmed whether this project will involve the selling of cut trees, but the Forest Service often uses agreements known as โstewardship contractsโ for similar projects that allow private logging companies to profit from the timber harvest in exchange for services. Regardless, the agency has stated that trees and chaparral will be removed using mechanical equipment which can cause significant damage to soil, water, and plants that are not being targeted.
โThe Trump administration is trying to hand over our southern California national forests to the logging industry, at taxpayer expense,โ said Dr. Chad Hanson, forest ecologist with the John Muir Project, based in Big Bear City, California. โThis destructive logging proposal would degrade wildlife habitat and make climate change worse, and would increase threats to human communities from wildland fire; we need Congress to protect our National Forests from logging once and for all,โ he added.
The Forest Service has proposed the project under the guise of community protection from wildfire despite countless scientific studies that demonstrate that remote vegetation treatments, such as the Pine Mountain project, are ineffective against the fires that cause the majority of damage to communities each year. Pine Mountain is several miles away from any community, and the agency itself admits that the project will not help mitigate fire spread under extreme weather conditions. In fact, the Forest Serviceโs own assessment of existing and potential vegetation removal projects in the Los Padres National Forest ranks the one on Pine Mountain as only 118 out 163 in terms of priority for community protection and other factors.
In 2017 and 2018, just six fires out of 16,600 throughout California caused nearly 90% of the total damage to communities. All six fires burned under conditions that render vegetation removal projects, such as the one proposed on Pine Mountain, useless for suppression purposes. Moreover, vegetation clearance projects can increase wildfire risk by removing fire-resistant trees, increasing heating and drying of the forest floor, and spreading non-native invasive grasses and weeds that ignite more easily and spread wildfire more quickly.
Scientists and conservation organizations have long advocated that funding should be directed instead to creating defensible space directly next to homes, retrofitting and building structures with fire-safe materials, and reducing development in the wildland-urban interface.
โThe Los Padres National Forest administration has a record of not only ignoring the science,โ Richard Halsey, director of the California Chaparral Institute, said, โbut also of violating agreements to collaborate with scientists and community members to manage the publicโs land. Los Padres officials are well aware that the science does not support this project to clear fragile habitat far from communities at risk. This project is about obtaining taxpayer dollars to support the agency, not protecting citizens from fire.โ
Over 30% of the project is within two proposed additions to the Sespe Wilderness approved by the House of Representatives with the passage of the Central Coast Heritage Protection Act earlier this year. The legislation would designate an area along part of the western portion of the ridge and an area that includes Reyes Peak. The bill is currently awaiting a vote in the Senate.
The proposal comes at a time when the Trump administration is attempting massive rollbacks of regulations under NEPA and similar laws. Earlier this month, the president issued an executive order that would waive requirements under these bedrock environmental laws for a wide variety of projects on federal lands. The Forest Service has also been directed to ramp up vegetation removal projects across the country, especially those that involve timber harvesting. Last year, Los Padres National Forest approved two commercial logging projects near Mt. Pinos under loopholes that similarly allowed the agency to avoid conducting the level of environmental review that is normal for such projects.
The public comment period is open until June 30 and may be the only chance the public has to weigh in with concerns about the Pine Mountain project. To submit a comment online or learn more about the project, visit p2a.co/IASAFIf
It was a wet and blustery in Bryce Canyon Utah. Most sane people wouldn't even get out of their cars. But I, a quite insane photographer, risked life, limb, and my camera's fragile electronics to bring you these photos. Most of what I shot was useless, because of the rain drops on my lens, but I think the images I did capture are stunning and unique. Most people can shoot a pic on a nice sunny day, with little puffy clouds, but a hand full of us shutterbugs capture the memorable image, no matter the cost. If you are like me, you know what I'm talking about. Hope you enjoy, and it will have been worth the freezing rain, to bring these beautiful landscapes to you.

I took my printed photos and hung them up in a tree
Now they look as I've manipulated a photo of a photo
But a tree is still a tree
Read description before jumping to conclusions on the concept -
So I had the idea for this concept (after seeing an image very much like it) whilst revising. Sometimes when I revise I feel like nothing seems to go in, or that there is no place for information to settle. A lot of the time I feel pretty useless with my memory and I feel as though it might as well not be there. So this is what I depict those feelings to look like. (Also side note, I am actually wearing clothes)
There are flaws with the image, I saved it and closed it before examining it properly and I'm not bothered to re-edit the whole thing.
Another thing, I think this project is going to become a '365 photos at least everyday'. I don't think I'll be able to take one everyday even though I want to try my best, especially when I get back to school. We'll see.
Idea that's been cracking around in my head for a while. Today was the day for it, I guess. Possibly one in a series.
One of many things from my new questionable-ideas blog, ThinkStank.

So - here I am with this wretched little cold, and a dental appointment. I tried to cancel, but this was discouraged, so off we go. In the dentist's chair for an hour and a half, with stuff running down the back of my throat, and unable to swallow. Three roots later, and we are back to the car and driving home (20 miles!!) and we get a flat tyre!! The car came equipped with a bag of gunk and NO spare wheel. When the tyre is a write-off, the bag of gunk is useless. So we call the roadside assistance people. Thank goodness for the men in my life ( and I am cautious when I say things like that!) My son drove out to pick me and my sore face up, and Peter stayed to wait for the repair man. All is well......I hope!
Essentially, I have nothing in Creative Cloud storage per app, but Adobe somehow thinks I'm using effectively 20 GB. All support staff has said the issue is at Adobe and that the issue has been escalated to "senior staff" but ... nothing. They have not made any of the promised call backs or given any of the promised updates. They may be working on it, but as far as I can tell, I've been abandoned.

I can't leave. If this gem has some importance, this could be my key back home.
What will I come back as? I have no idea, but I can't fear the future when my present is in dire need of help.
How does the gem work though? I can't just swing it at Ron and hope it does something.
Ron: "So, you've found the gem."
I quickly turn to where I assume his voice came from, the gem pointed ahead of myself.
Ron: "And you don't know how to use it."
Ron points his gun at me but I begin to scramble away. He's right, I have absolutely no idea how to use this and he has the upper hand unless I find something to defend myself.
Ron: "Running is smart, but your mind is failing with everyone else in here dead. Wasting more time gives me more power you see?"
I trip and fall to the floor; I try to get up but cannot. It's almost like I've gone numb.
Ron quickly gets to me while I'm on the floor, motionless.
Ron: "I've really played with your mind here, Victor. This is your body and you've let your own fear and disgust take control?"
I try moving my arm but it is of no use.
Victor "Do it. Kill me."
Ron: "And waste the perfect time to make you suffer?"
I begin to shake uncontrollably, my mind is almost rebooted, all of my fears and mistakes flash before me. I begin to sweat as I try and take my mind off of them but I can't.
Ron: "Afraid of Orr? That old man? He's as useless as you."
He's right. I'm afraid of a lot of things. What am I to do? I can't simply deny what is blatantly obvious to myself.
Ron: "Afraid of not being smart? To impress who? Your father who you also hate for no reason? Do you hate him because you know you're inferior, or is it because you think he hates you? Oh wait, I am you, I know it's both. It must hurt having no confidence in yourself. Luckily, I feed off of it."
A tear rolls down my cheek and onto the floor.
Ron: "Now you're crying? This really was easy. You were just made into a cyborg, y'know. I don't know why Silas kept your brain in here but I thank him. You're unfortunately not going to see me ruin your life, but maybe you will. There are ways around death in here, not that you'll be smart enough to find them."
Ron's right. I am afraid, I'm also afraid of myself. I begin to remember, I begin to remember something profound; an accomplishment. I suddenly stop shaking, I stop remembering, and my arms feel free.
I begin to think about more; I need to overpower whatever is holding me down. I begin to remember touchdowns, parties with my friends, pre-game rituals with my friends, until I reach a soft spot in my mind. My family. Though our situation was never the best, I found comfort in what little I remember of us all being together.
I find the strength. I quickly turn to Ron and extend my arm ahead of me, pointing the gem as precisely as I can. Nothing happens as Ron bursts out in laughter.
Ron: "I could plant one insignificant thing in your mind and make it significant to give you some sort of hope."
Ron grabs me as I go numb again.
Ron: "You want a view? Your dad had a view when I killed him. Maybe I can land you two near one another."
Ron pulls me towards the bridge in the middle of STAR Labs laughing.
Ron: "I hate making an event of this but your humiliation makes my day. Or in this case, my whole life."
He places me on the side of the railing. I look to the ground to see bodies strewn throughout the grounds.
Ron: "Want to play a game of 'I Spy'?"
Victor: "Just... kill me."
Ron grabs the back of my skull and tilts it down to the ground again.
Ron: "I said, we're playing a game! I spy, someone in a blue suit, dark brown pants and red blood all over."
Victor: "Stop."
Ron: "You see your father? You see what you will look like in a few seconds?"
Ron releases his grip from my head and begins to laugh again.
Ron: "I am so close but I just can't kill you. So. Close."
My sadness turns into rage; He's taunted me more than enough. That's when I remember, in the story with the Re-Gou Ruby. This is the Re-Gou Ruby. The pharaoh got power from it due to being vengeful.
I clench my fist as the Re-Gou begins to glow. My right arm turns silver, as I raise it, a blue bolt blasts into the bridge. I look to see Ron hold onto the bridge as his arm begins to vanish. He screams in pain as his eye begins to glow too.
Ron: "Oh god please no, I don't want to die, I don't want to die! Help me!"
I consider helping him, as he is myself, though the worst version of myself.
Ron: "Help me, Victor! Everything hurts! Please oh god!"
I fall to my knees as I begin to cry again. I wanted out but Ron's in pain, but who knows the consequences if I save him this time?
Ron: "I'm not ready to go. Please... Please!"
Ron begins to cry as I get to my feet. I inch forward trying to steady my arm.
Victor: "Ron, I'm sorry bu-"
Ron chokes as he pleas for his life.
Ron: "Don't kill me-please..."
He begins to sob as I inch forward.
Ron: "D-do it. I understand. Just tell mom one thing for me."
I can't handle it. This isn't real. He would've killed me with no hesitation. But he didn't. In the midst of my thoughts, the cannon fires right through Ron's head and a side of the bridge.
His decapitated body falls; its slow descent makes me fall to my knees again. I didn't kill him. I didn't. I begin to shake uncontrollably as I look over the edge. There, Ron is on the ground residing right next to my father. I look away as I feel nothing but pain, I look to the moon as I curl up in a ball. The light emitted from the moon grows stronger until I am almost blinded by it.

Silas: "Victor? Victor! I have a pulse!"
So this is victory, or maybe even natural selection? This world is where just surviving means taking the hardest hits, what sacrifices must we make to just survive? A thought lingers in the back of my mind that maybe I shouldn't have been so lucky to be alive now, or maybe I didn't want to be...
