La pigua, la pariente del halcón peregrino
The pigua, a relative of the peregrine falcon
The Pigua is found in almost the entire country except Nariño. It is a conspicuous bird of open country, often perching on cattle to search for ticks.
Conservation: minor concern.
It is a very common bird in the city of Cali. It feeds on the eggs of the smallest birds‚ usually the sirirí‚ who has a very strong character‚ so it is seen that it is useless for the pigua to be so big because that small bird usually hits it and in the sky it is common to see those battles of a sirirí or several chasing a pigua

Across the Universe
When I was young, I loved watching the stars
Through a telescope;
People thought I was here,
But often I was up there.
There, is also in each of us,
There are up there unexplored worlds that we ignore,
Consenting prisoners of our daily reality.
Crossing the universe, the one that lives inside me,
I never failed to find the light
To love passionately
The colors of this little world,
The useless things,
The remote roads,
The children that laugh,
The mood of your eyes.
I am still up there, dancing with the stars
More than ever
But, I don't need a telescope anymore
And people are not looking for me anymore.
Crossing the universe, I discovered. . .
The dreamer who was looking through the telescope

Even if it is somewhat useless, it's good looking which is what really seems to matter in this world:)

We do not use pennies any more in Canada. Which makes them useless and basically junk. Sometimes you pay a few penies less and sometimes you pay a little more.

Making mistakes since '94, you'd think I'd fucking learn sometime to unwind, to be less kind, to play the fool, to drop like a useless tool.
This is a made up diddy to help me feel pretty, please ignore, walk on, stand tall, continue to endure.
The old leather suitcase. As an Australian, travel is only allowed within your own state so people's suitcases do not get a lot of use these days. No matter, they deserve a rest. For 'Smile on Saturday' the theme is: 'Made of Leather'.
Sea Thrift is a really very pretty, pink flower which grows happily along North-Atlantic seashores. It is slightly antiseptic but is not generally used medicinally because the sap can also cause skin irritations. The plant is apparently copper-tolerant and seems to absorb that element so I suppose it might be used to remove copper from soil if that's necessary.
Here our flower is being visited by a Stripe-winged Dronefly, Eristalis horticola, also rather useless. That is if you think aesthetic enjoyment has no use!
“To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”

The views from Erice (about 750m altitude; Erice is close to the port of Trapani) along the northern Sicilian coast towards Monte Cofano (about 660 m; in the middle of the image). It seems that everybody who ever came here was attracted to the beauty of this island. In historical times, the Phoenicians or Carthaginians (who fortified Erice and venerated Astarte), then the Greeks (Aphrodite), then the Romans (Venus), then the Byzantines (Mary), then the Muslims, then the Normans (Mary again), The Spanish, the French etc. until Garibaldi made this "Italian" in 1860. The photo was taken at the Castello di Venere (Venus Castle) built by the Normans. A divine lady has always protected this land.

This is a collection of old network BNC (Bayonet Neill–Concelman) connectors and terminators we found buried in a cupboard at work and joined together. Apart from being 20 years behind the times, they would also send the network traffic loopy if we connected them to anything - so the ultimate contraption. Over complicated. Looks impressive. Does nothing!
The BNC was commonly used for early computer networks, including ARCnet, the IBM PC Network, and the 10BASE2 variant of modern Ethernet.
... usually i think about a text or a song or other associations that could work with an image in this case i was looking for the right image for this song : www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWmypu1N8_4&feature=related
You useless boy , always hurting, always crying
you don't own a thing ,scared for everything
i will be there for you to stay an useless boy
whispering in your ears ,following you in yours steps
because you are mine own useless boy, from the moment your born
Homem sem esforço, sem proposito, sem utilidade, painting by Alvaro Lapa, 1968 (Powerless, purposeless, useless man. I would think that man stands here for human being); seen in the retrospective of his work "No Tempo Todo" in the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Porto.
I remember that day very well. I was out in the field with several pro birders - something that happens very rarely. And the day was bright, but quite windy.
For the weavers, sudden gusts of wind disturbed these hanging nests and some of them got entangled in the acacia plant branches. The weavers were continuously inspecting the nests and I remember 1-2 of the nests were stuck on the branches rendering them unsafe from predators and thus useless. This nest was intact, but the bird took no chances - he inspected it several times and was protecting it from other males who I think were trying to grab it.
This one looked like a winning nest to me - well built - complete and sturdy. The quality of the nest determines the males chances to find a mate in these species.
Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

Everybody is taking photos of the lifeless bland interior of those temples, one looking like the other. Because they've been there and need to document this somehow. Nobody will look at these shots anymore. Meta or just another one of those?
For the Crazy Tuesday theme of ‘Goes together like…’ we have here an electrical plug and the electric socket.
There are many examples of plugs with electrical appliances or equipment and all of them need a corresponding socket to be plugged into - alone they are useless.
“Silence stands outside the world of profit and utility; it cannot be exploited for profit; you cannot get anything out of it. It is ‘unproductive’ Therefore it is regarded as valueless. Yet there is more help and healing in silence than in all the 'useful things.’ Purposeless, unexplainable silence suddenly appears at the side of the all-too-purposeful, and frightens us by its very purposelessness. It interferes with the regular flow of the purposeful. It strengthens the untouchable, it lessens the damage inflicted by exploitation. It makes things whole again, by taking them back from the world of dissipation into the world of wholeness. It gives something its own holy uselessness, for that is what silence itself is: holy uselessness.” (Max Picard)
"Rain will fall again
on your smooth pavement,
a light rain like
a breath or a step.
The breeze and the dawn
will flourish again
when you return,
as if beneath your step.
Between flowers and sills
the cats will know.
There will be other days,
there will be other voices.
You will smile alone.
The cats will know.
You will hear words
old and spent and useless
like costumes left over
from yesterday’s parties.
You too will make gestures.
You’ll answer with words—
face of springtime,
you too will make gestures.
The cats will know,
face of springtime;
and the light rain
and the hyacinth dawn
that wrench the heart of him
who hopes no more for you—
they are the sad smile
you smile by yourself.
There will be other days,
other voices and renewals.
Face of springtime,
we will suffer at daybreak."
Cesare Pavese
