Manchester used to get some exotic cargo back in the early 80s, and this Northwest Cargo 747 ranks as a great catch. Delivered in 1975 it later went to Kalitta in 2010. You couldn't kill these older machines. It was however broken up in 2014 at Oscoda–Wurtsmith Airport. Alan Lord Collection

Autumn Arrives in the Northern Aegean - Badavut Salt Lake-Ayvalık - Balıkesir - Türkiye
Autumn has arrived in the Northern Aegean, and some migratory bird species have already begun their seasonal journeys. Around Ayvalık, Gömeç, Burhaniye and Edremit, the olive harvest begins in early October and continues into the winter months.
Yesterday morning, I visited Badavut Salt Lake, within Badavut Nature Park in Ayvalık, Balıkesir. Among the calm waters, I encountered a solitary juvenile Greater Flamingo - Phoenicopterus roseus, feeding quietly in a small lagoon. Its plumage had not yet acquired the familiar vivid pink tones of adulthood, displaying instead delicate shades of grey and brown.
Initially, the bird would not allow me to approach. Respecting its natural wariness, I settled onto my small field stool, lowered my profile and waited patiently. Through the viewfinder, I followed its movements while giving it the space it needed. Eventually, I was able to photograph this elegant bird from the closest distance it comfortably permitted.
While processing the images in my digital darkroom, Lightroom, I deliberately softened the distracting rocky textures and vegetation in the background. My intention was to bring the flamingo's graceful silhouette and the beautiful blue water into greater prominence, while preserving the natural atmosphere of the scene.
My visit also offered an unforgettable encounter with a Black Stork / Ciconia nigra one of the more elusive birds of these wetlands. For nearly three hours, I watched it methodically searching the shallow water for prey. At moments, it spread its wings in a remarkable hunting posture, revealing a behaviour I had never witnessed so closely before. The effort involved in catching and swallowing its prey was extraordinary.
Despite its proximity, the stork consistently maintained its distance. No matter how patiently I waited, it never offered the close-up portrait I had hoped for. Instead, it continued its deliberate search, gradually moving farther away. I came away with something equally valuable: the privilege of observing its behaviour without disturbing its natural routine.
During the same visit, other species entered my field of view, including Eastern Bonelli's Warbler - Phylloscopus bonelli, Common Ringed Plover - Charadrius hiaticula and Common Greenshank - Tringa nebularia.
Badavut Salt Lake lies within a landscape shaped by seasonal migration, offering feeding and resting habitat for birds travelling along the Aegean coast. Each visit reminds me that wildlife photography is not simply about obtaining a close frame. It is also about patience, observation and respecting the distance that wild creatures choose to keep.
The colours of nature, the patience of observation, and a quiet morning in the Northern Aegean.
I've captured some unforgettable moments with my camera, and I hope you feel the same joy viewing these images as I did while shooting them.

Even though the tree-design is symmetric, it is also very scalable and adjustable thus making it very easy to individualize every tree.
The trunk can easily be extended or shortend, branches can be angled up and down independent of each other and each smaller plant leaves & every level of attachment part for the branches can be individually swiveled.
And finally, it is not extremely part-intensive with the tree shown only consisting of 109 parts, mostly technic.
The length of the rigged hose inside the trunk depends on the numbers of attachment levels and can be cut to fit perfectly.
The tree shown has 4 levels and the rigged hose inside is exactly 9L.
The upside-down round plate 1 x 1 on top of the trunk must be with open stud.

History
The use of ropes for hunting, pulling, fastening, attaching, carrying, lifting, and climbing dates back to prehistoric times.
It is likely that the earliest "ropes" were naturally occurring lengths of plant fibre, such as vines, followed soon by the first attempts at twisting and braiding these strands together to form the first proper ropes in the modern sense of the word. The earliest evidence of suspected rope is a very small fragment of three-ply cord from a Neanderthal site dated 50,000 years ago.
This item was so small, it was only discovered and described with the help of a high power microscope. It is slightly thicker than the average thumb-nail, and would not stretch from edge-to-edge across a little finger-nail.
There are other ways fibres can twist in nature, without deliberate construction.
A tool dated between 35,000 and 40,000 years found in the Hohle Fels cave in south-western Germany has been identified as a means for making rope.
It is a 20 cm (8 in) strip of mammoth ivory with four holes drilled through it.
Each hole is lined with precisely cut spiral incisions.
The grooves on three of the holes spiral in a clockwise direction from each side of the strip.
The grooves on one hole spiral clockwise on one side, but counter-clockwise from the other side.
Plant fibres have been found on it that could have come from when they fed through the holes and the tool twisted, creating a single ply yarn. Fiber-making experiments with a replica found that the perforations served as effective guides for raw fibers, making it easier to make a strong, elastic rope than simply twisting fibers by hand spiral incisions would have tended to keep the fibres in place.
But the incisions cannot impart any twist to the fibres pulled through the holes.
Other 15,000-year-old objects with holes with spiral incisions, made from reindeer antler, found across Europe are thought to have been used to manipulate ropes, or perhaps some other purpose.
They were originally named "batons", and thought possibly to have been carried as badges of rank.
Impressions of cordage found on fired clay provide evidence of string and rope-making technology in Europe dating back 28,000 years.
Fossilized fragments of "probably two-ply laid rope of about 7 mm [0.28 in] diameter" were found in one of the caves at Lascaux, dating to approximately 15,000 BC.
The ancient Egyptians were probably the first civilization to develop special tools to make rope.
Egyptian rope dates back to 4000 to 3500 BC and was generally made of water reed fibres.
Other rope in antiquity was made from the fibres of date palms, flax, grass, papyrus, leather, or animal hair. The use of such ropes pulled by thousands of workers allowed the Egyptians to move the heavy stones required to build their monuments. Starting from approximately 2800 BC, rope made of hemp fibres was in use in China.
Rope and the craft of rope making spread throughout Asia, India, and Europe over the next several thousand years.
From the Middle Ages until the 18th century, in Europe ropes were constructed in ropewalks, very long buildings where strands the full length of the rope were spread out and then laid up or twisted together to form the rope.
The cable length was thus set by the length of the available rope walk. This is related to the unit of length termed cable length. This allowed for long ropes of up to 300 yards (270 m) long or longer to be made.
These long ropes were necessary in shipping as short ropes would require splicing to make them long enough to use for sheets and halyards.
The strongest form of splicing is the short splice, which doubles the cross-sectional area of the rope at the area of the splice, which would cause problems in running the line through pulleys.
Any splices narrow enough to maintain smooth running would be less able to support the required weight.
Rope intended for naval use would have a coloured yarn, known as the "rogue's yarn", included in the layup.
This enabled the source to be identified and to detect pilfering.
Leonardo da Vinci drew sketches of a concept for a ropemaking machine, but it was never built.
Remarkable feats of construction were accomplished using rope but without advanced technology:
In 1586, Domenico Fontana erected the 327 ton obelisk on Rome's Saint Peter's Square with a concerted effort of 900 men, 75 horses, and countless pulleys and meters of rope.
By the late 18th century several working machines had been built and patented.
Some rope is still made from natural fibres, such as coir and sisal, despite the dominance of synthetic fibres such as nylon and polypropylene, which have become increasingly popular since the 1950s.
Nylon was discovered in the late 1930s and was first introduced into fiber ropes during World War II.
Indeed, the first synthetic fiber ropes were small braided parachute cords and three-strand tow ropes for gliders, made of nylon during World War II.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Used the cheep Microsoft Surface 3 for the entire retouch instead of the big powerful PC and it worked out great! It took a LOT of initial setup and customization to make it usable in an every day workflow but it's finally there. Now we have a ridiculously portable retouching workstation to take everywhere with us.

Using 18th century term referring outlandish dress. This Jay was drying himself after several damp days.
This I converted using Photoshop Elements 2020. I note that as I use my native program very rarely. I had to buy 2020 becauseI thought my new iMac's os would not accept my old 18. I am not totally sure that is true as I have only been warned by communicative computer that the 12 I still have alive and rarely kicking will need to be updated. I only keep it around because I failed to integrate its album organization when I went to 18. Agggh! Now I will lose all of that when I finally upgrade to Catalina. Which I may never do!
This is quite a busy landscape that my fail one of the tests of a good image: is it coherent, framed so all extraneous details are eliminated and objects are not cropped along the edges? Still, I like it so much I printed it out three ways: Letter size on metal and pearl paper, and 13 x 16 on luster. Way obsessed with printing since I got the Canon Pro-10. I have acquired several different types, brands, and sizes of paper. Not only do I use the various papers on my Canon, I continue to try them out on my Epson Artisan. Surprisingly (and with disappointment) I find the Epson often does a better job with color images. Brighter, truer colors, more 3D pop. This is with typically using Canon profiles on Canon paper on the Canon printer. I have tried other profiles and even Epson paper on the Canon but Epson on Epson usually wins. Black and white is another story entirely. The one black ink of the Epson means that it incorporates colors to manage monochromes resulting in a magenta print. Because of this, I have considered selling the Canon and getting a higher line Epson. If my Epson printed bigger than letter size, the problem would be solved.
For those who wonder what for I used the nail lacquer remover: acetone removes superglue from fingers :-)

Using Atmosfear 3 in combination with Absolute Texture, enhanced grass draw distance, console controlled FOV, 'GOTZ' for enemy-, weather- and location-spawn, ingame console commands (fov, tilt), user.ltx tweaks (r2_lumscale etc.), CheatEngine (slomo, fake 'timestop' by setting timescale to 0.0 - no camera movement possible though), ReShade 2.x.

This is the realization of the pattern I created for a hungarian bride using hungarian embroidery elements. The henna is Tunisian style where like in Yemen gall ink is used to high light the henna.
Khidab is a Gall ink which is employed in Yemen mainly in the mountainous regions around the capital Sanaa instead of henna. For an account how it is made you can download an article:
