I have never heard about leaves of trees being used for rituals in temple. For the first time I saw in this temple leaves of a wild tree being offered instead of flowers during bali but done only during annual temple festival.
The wild tree here is Rose sandalwood or wild olive [Botanical name: Olea dioica Family: Oleaceae (Jasmine family)]. A small tree growing upto 15 m, seen disturbed throughout the Western Ghats in evergreen and moist deciduous forests.
The tree is having medicinal property; bark and leaves of it is used to treat fever.

Sree bhootha bali is a ritual performed thrice every day when cooked rice is offered to bhootha or body guard of the presiding deity represented by bali kallu (shaped granite stones) placed in different locations along the first and second circle around the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. This is done by the chief priest of the temple with the utsava vigraha or seeveli moorthy carried on hand or palanquin or chariot. Belief is that the presiding deity HIMSELF/HERSELF is offering food to HIS/HER dependents.

mermaid tail .... Linzee777.deviantart.com/art/Mermaid-Tail-VIIII-135121000
used mostly japanese scraps, most of them from my lovely online friends.:) Mixed up with some vintage scraps.
Used the square in a square pattern.
Measures abt 22" x 17" so it's tiny.
tks my dear friends! yr gifts have been put to good use! I hope :S
I used to think “Oh no I need to perfectly split this torso by the seams to swap out limbs to get an articulated doll” but nowadays I find it’s much easier to cut the torso up and ensure the articulated limbs already fit well in their sockets.
I keep forgetting how ridiculous the Liv torso joint is but it’s super big and annoying but I managed to pry the body apart so that’s a thing now and glued it onto the mermaid tail stump.
It’s mostly a proof of concept with my rerooted PJ head but as you can see I want to put a Mod era head on this body and make cute little mod dresses and stuff for her.
I have been experimenting with the use of infrared filters and have been really happy with the results so far.
It means I can get out during the bright sunshine of the afternoon and still capture some pleasing images. As always I would love to hear your thoughts. Good or bad.

Note: this was an Australian made car.
It used to be I shot black and white film for the boring stuff. Color film was expensive for me In those days Southern Pacific (SP) SD45's and UP SD40's were considered boring, like GEVOs today. SP 9076, UP 3049, SP 9195 and possibly others lead a freight around the wye at Davis, California on an unrecorded date around 1973. The train is coming off the CalP and heading up what now is the California Northern. Then, it was the West Valley Line of the Southern Pacific. According to WAF, (This train) "is the OPS from Oakland, the general merchandise train (mostly lumber empties) between Oakland and Portland. Whether it actually went all the way to Portland is unknown. I suspect it got humped in Eugene and its Portland/Seattle cars forwarded to Portland."
SP 9076 is an EMD SD45, SP Class EF636-5. Reportedly: it built in 1969 builders number 34911. This locomotive was upgraded in 1984 emerging as SP 7489 SD45R, SP Class EF636LR-1.
The disposition of this locomotive is, sold 1994 to Helm Atlantic Leasing, HATX 915. Rebuilt to SD40-2M HLCX 6413.

COMMENT: Of Bots and Bad Pandas
After trying to log in to Flickr numerous times without success earlier today, I gave up. Too many Bad Pandas. No point posting photos if half the people can't get on to see them. I don't know why this platform is the only one we know that goes down so regularly. Looking at the Help Forum this is a worldwide problem. But that happens to be the least of our problems on Flickr.
There is something more important existentially that goes on every single day on everyone's page that far too many people are turning a blind eye to. I'm talking about bot use. For those who still live in a prelapsarian social media world, bots are either (1) pieces of internet code written specifically to trawl the pages of Flickr faving and in some cases commenting (generically) in order to garner reciprocal visits - you can buy them, or (2) humans behaving in a bot-like manner, simply faving and following as many people as possible in the hope of achieving the same goals - inflated views, faves and followers. Frankly I'm sick of it.
So much so that I will block any person I see that exhibits this bot-like tendency. My list of blocks is hundreds long. Of course this has seen a falloff in my own view numbers. We don't seriously think that all those views of our old photos are real do we? If say you post 3 photos a day and each of them gets 500 views in 24 hours and your total view count for the day is 5,000. I would argue a good percentage of all those extra 3,500 views are in fact unblocked bots.
Opponents of bots on social media platforms (and Flickr is by no means the worst here) estimate that up to 50 percent of all traffic on these sites is bot-driven. Now bots are easy to understand when the corruption of monetarization comes into play. That is not the case on Flickr. But ego is. And it seems to me that ego will drive some people to do very bad things to attract attention to themselves.
Have you ever wondered why that awful out of focus picture of the Grand Canyon has attracted 65,000 views and 1,500 faves? Well very likely this person is using a massive bot. And many people fave unthinkingly. Go to the Activities Feed and press the fave star and you don't even need to visit a person's page. You can fave thousands in an hour or two doing that. But what a hollow feeling. And what does it do for the photography community?
Explore is another area rife with gaming strategies. How many times do you see the usual suspects turn up on a person's page with "Congrats on Explore"? That's the only time they'll visit your page by the way (that's if you're lucky enough to ever get Explored because it seems only magic accounts do every 16-19 days). These are a group of people who fave (or by proxy their bot does) every one of the 500 Explored photos each day, in the belief it will garner them more "followers" (how I hate that word - CONTACTS is so much better). So if you have been in the habit of doing that there is an excellent chance I will have blocked you.
Of course the most dangerous bots of all are the ones pretending to comment. People think they are real, but AI is very clever now. And one in particular has been at the centre of attention during this week. Banned by Flickr after being clearly outed by a "bot catcher". He gets banned, and then the whistleblower gets banned too for exposing the biggest bot commenter on Flickr. All this ended up with the whistleblower rightly being restored, but also the return of the bot user. Some of you will have followed proceedings very closely.
Frankly I've advocated for a long time for view counts to be discontinued. Thousands of views do not make a good photograph. Social media has been bad for photography in that regard. It's made photographers complacent, and even worse, made them conform to particular styles or genres that "succeed" - as if that matters. Photography is an individual art and everyone is unique.
Always remember that not another soul saw Vivian Maier's photographs before she died. And I dare say you rarely see photographs on Flickr even half as good as the ones she spent a lifetime taking.
So if you feel like I do about the integrity of Flickr and bot use, please join us at this group:
....don't like bot-comments/faves? Join us, post your photos there.
Please post it to the Anti-Bots and Anti-Fake group.
* A final point. Mr Ed was a talking horse and not a bot user.

I bet you're expecting a man full of sin, one who doesn't care for moral rights or laws. One who can walk the line of both worlds, and still not be scarred. If this is what you predicted, then you're dead wrong. I do walk both lines, but both lead to different trails.
It all started with her death. Imagine a perfect day, one that makes birds sing, and you can smell the dew in the air. Two people sit under a tree, as they usually did on a Sunday evening.
Her father always wanted her to go to church. She never went until I told her to. We went together, and after ever mass, we walked to that tree, and sat just listening to the world around us.
On that day, she said those words which I could never forget.
"I love you."
This is what kills me. These words were my undoing. Fear of what could happen if I took her under my wing. I said some stupid excuse, and went home. Then I decided that I could handle it. I could love her, and that I always would.
Well, you can probably guess what happened from there.
I ran back to the tree, like I was in some kind of movie, the guy chasing after the girl. But I was too late. She wasn't at the tree. I sat down on the ground, leaning on the tree. Then, I remember seeing smoke, coming from one of the streets.
It must have been a car accident I thought to myself. It had to be. But being that "good" man I thought I was, I ran down the hill again.
Once I got down to the street, I saw that it was a car crash. A stupid biker had crashed into a red Honda Civic.
This car accident meant nothing to anyone else around me. It was just a regular crash. But I remember seeing two bodies on the ground, painted with crimson liquid.
I felt something come out of my eye. Something I couldn't fell anymore. There she was, in the middle of the street, laying lifeless. The other victim was there also.
I used to be afraid of the sight of blood. But this was her. I ran into the street, nothing mattered anymore. Cars honking, rushing by me, while I was cradling her.
I yelled to see if anyone had called the police. I screamed it. I broke out into tears. Even though it felt like forever, waiting there, they finally arrived. The men that were supposed to help the citizens were finally here.
They couldn't help her though, no. She was "totaled" in car language.
They said there was a note in the car. They guessed she was writing it while she was driving.
I looked at the letter, and saw tears all over it. I unwrinkled the paper to see this:
John. I know you've been good to me, and I thank you for this. But, you seemed like you couldn't handle a marriage, and that's when I figured out I couldn't handle one either. I figured I couldn't handle anything. We were young, that's all. For lust, I believe. I'm not even sure I ever loved you. Did you ever lov.....
That's when it stopped. A pen mark went across the page from where it stopped. They said she was speeding. A death note.
The doctor said there was nothing he could do, but yet, I knew there was. I was a religious man. Prayer was my way of getting her back. It was the only way.
I prayed on and off for months. I never left the chapel, I slept there. I prayed for answers, but none returned.
One fateful day, I awoke to see a note. No a waver. The only words on the paper were,
Love is forever, but not without a soul.
Then, a place to sign was under it. I looked around, trying to find the person who gave the note. No one was around, and frankly, I was there for years. Time flew by, and I had no idea. The church had been destroyed, but the chapel remained. And the note. To sign the note, my fate was unknown. But love fueled me. It always had.
I signed.
Have you ever felt the feelings of butterflies in your stomach? Imagine it times twelve. Then the feeling of my eyes burning, like pepper spray, but instead of the spray, I got the seeds. I saw flames form around my eyes, and skin peel from my hands.
But then she appeared. She was alive, and she was confused. I approached her, pain still in my body. She saw me once, and fled. I screamed her name, and noticed my voice was changing. More, raspy.
My clothes burned away, and the feel of leather wrapped around me. A chain made of flames slung around my shoulder.
Time to come visit.
The voice dragged me down deep into the chapel.
It seems your prayers were answered.
The voice was like sandpaper rubbing against metal. I couldn't see at the moment, everything was dark. But then I saw red. All of it. The whole world was red. It had seemed like I fell, as I was on my face. I stood up, and saw the chain on my shoulder. It was heavy.
Come John.
The voice could be heard from a distance. I didn't want to go, but my feet were moving. I dragged the chain on the ground, up the hills, and down the hills. This was the Hell he made for me. I finally saw a figure, and it stood out. White and black, while everything else was red.
John... lets see... loved Geneviève Rosa... signed the contract. Yep, you're here. Welcome to Hell.
"What is this place?"
Hm. Duh, I just said Hell.
"This is a lot worse than expected."
So you expected to come down her?
"No... that's not what I... meant."
Well, you sold your soul to... me.
"That's what that note was?"
Yeah. Sorry, the big guy wasn't responding. I tried to help you.
"You can't help me. You're the... devil."
Oh come on. What are you? Human? Wait, never mind, you aren't that anymore.
"What did you do to me?"
A holy man turned Rider. I like irony John. Oh by the way...
He whistled, and I could hear a bike. I still remember hearing that sound. Tires scratching on the sands of Hell. It arrived, and I recognized it immediately. It was the same bike that had killed her.
"Ironic."
Quite. Get on.
"I'm not your faithful believer."
Well you are for Him.
"Let me guess... Ironic."
Look, just get on. You're my Rider now. My Ghost Rider. One who walks Earth, and Hell, making people pay for their sins, and bringing them down here for me. Simple.
I tried to reason with him, saying it was unfair. She had left me, even when I saved her. She took my soul, and threw me away. It not only hurt me, but fueled me with something worse than love.
Hatred. It's what will fuel you through your journeys.
I looked at him, and I remember him smiling.
"What is your bidding."
Perfect. There is a man who brings people back from the dead. I want him... I want Otto Octavious.
I hopped on the bike, and started the bike. Flames appeared from the bike, as I fueled the bike. My hatred could fuel all of Hell. But I had a job to do. I rode my bike up a ramp (ha it's still there) and went back onto Earth. As I said, I had a job to do.

I've been roaming around
Always looking down at all i see
Painted faces fill the places i can't reach
You know that i could use somebody
You know that i could use somebody
