I have been taking walks around campus to get some sunlight. I have been told I need Vitamin D to stay healthy and sunlight helps. Plus I need a reason to get out of the shop and take pictures.

Le discriminazioni storiche delle donne in India vanno diminuendo tra le caste alte, ma rimangono drammatiche negli strati inferiori della società
Dalla nascita, le figlie femmine valgono molto meno dei maschi.
Le bambine non vengono nutrite nè curate come i figli maschi, le donne vengono sfruttate nelle attività domestiche e percepiscono salari inferiori agli uomini, svolgono lavori durissimi e, viaggiando per l’India, si ha spesso l'impressione che lavorino solo loro. A volte subiscono torture sessuali e stupri da parte delle stesse forze dell'ordine, la prassi dotale non è venuta meno e si è anzi ulteriormente diffusa e nonostante la legislazione vieti di rivelare il sesso del nascituro durante le ecografie, il 99 % degli aborti riguarda feti femmina. Le figlie sono considerate come detto un peso per la famiglia, un investimento senza nessun ritorno e nelle aree rurali del Sud tradizionalmente era addirittura la stessa nonna paterna ad incaricarsi di avvelenare la neonata, ovviamente mai registrata all'anagrafe.
Meno cibo, meno cure, niente scuole, a volte persino l'eliminazione fisica o, la vendita ai mercanti di carne che ne faranno una prostituta.
Se nascere femmine è una disgrazia in India, essere vedove è quasi intollerabile: queste ultime sono accusate della morte del marito, se non praticamente, a causa dei propri peccati.
Scoraggiati i secondi matrimoni, le vedove giovani vengono spesso avviate alla prostituzione.
La legislazione non permette più alcuna discriminazione nei rapporti tra uomini e donne ma non è raro incontrare ancora riti e tradizioni che fino a mezzo secolo fa erano ritenuti "normali". Ora se non si tratta di fatti di particolare gravità la società indiana tende comunque a tollerare le vecchie usanze.La donna deve essere capace soprattutto di concepire. E' chiaro che la donna non esercita la sua libera volontà. Alla base vi è una concezione generale del mondo diversa dalla nostra perchè condizionata dalla fede nella reincarnazione. La donna deve dar corso della continuità di essa quindi diventa inconcepibile l'arrestarsi della discendenza. La donna sterile, o avente solo figlie femmine fino a poco tempo fa poteva essere ripudiata. La vedova doveva morire sullo stesso rogo del marito (inteso come suo unico Dio), per secoli un fatto d'obbligo. Questa usanza ora gravemente punita viene ancora seguita in qualche sperduto villaggio indiano

I'm using my telephoto lens here at Sudbury Junction to capture all of VIA's massive premier train "The Canadian". This is the only time I've ever seen the Canadian, as I'm too far south to be able to see it normally. This is certainly not the most visible station stop to get to, having to drive alongside the CN right of way just to get to the parking lot. The Budd cars on this train are always a welcome sight - this year's buffer car mandate had already been removed by the time this photo was taken.

Conosciuta volgarmente come: scilla silvestre, giacinto selvatico, giacinto turchino.
Il nome specifico bifolia deriva dal latino ed è composto di bǐ- (derivato a sua volta da bǐs = per due volte) e da fǒlǐa (= foglie, plurale del sostantivo neutro fǒlǐum, ǐi = foglia). Esso fa riferimento alla presenza di due sole foglie basali.

Downtown Cincinnati was used as a filming location for the upcoming film Alto Knights starring Robert De Niro. Some ground floor retail spaces were covered up with fake 1950s New York storefronts.

Well, I just got them out of the fridge, looked at them, and tried to imagine some tastes.
I had leftover tomato sauce:

So I decided to cook some black-eyed peas, boiled with a couple of bay leaves for about 40 minutes.
I removed the bay leaves, added a good glug of V8 juice, salt, pepper, and Maggi, and after a few minutes added in the leftovers and a dash of curry and Cayjun seasoning.
Let the whole lot stew together a bit, added a bit of lime juice, and let simmer to blend.
Served in warmed bowls (microwave @ full whack 1 minute) and topped with fresh basil leaves.
"Using things up", as my late mother-in-law would have said... :-)

Wanted to do something different, so I tried to apply some of the methods used in the title sequence of the HBO show 'The Night Of'.

I use an Einstein 640 strobe with a 22" beauty dish & diffusion sock mounted on an Elinchrom Handheld Boom Arm. I typically fire my camera off with a wireless trigger, and that in turn fires my CyberSync™ Trigger Transmitter on my Nikon D800 to fire off my strobe via a CyberSync™ Transceiver. I end up taking several exposures, both high and low, while walking around the vehicle. I'll layer the images in Photoshop and switch each layer to the 'lighten' blend mode. I have been using layer masks to remove some highlight details from the strobe reflection, but I don't always find it works all the time. 1970 Plymouth Duster, 2016 Mountain Thunder Car Show in Old Fort, North Carolina. I shot the car in full daylight with about 5 stops of ND filtration and had the flash power at maximum.

Going to use the 365 challenge to try new things - this one is playing with Composites - thought this subject lent itself nicely to the topic... first attempt and reasonably pleased with the outcome.
For those who've not encountered Backgammon.
Backgammon is one of the oldest known board games. Its history can be traced back nearly 5,000 years to archaeological discoveries in Mesopotamia. It is a two-player game where each player has fifteen pieces that move between twenty-four triangles according to the roll of two dice. The objective of the game is to be first to bear off, i.e. move all fifteen checkers off the board. Backgammon is a member of the tables family, one of the oldest classes of board games.

Las flores pueden aparecer solitarias o en parejas, pero lo más común es que crezcan juntas en grupos organizados que se llaman inflorescencias. En ocasiones las flores aparecen tan apretadas y ordenadas que toda la inflorescencia puede confundirse con una flor, en cuyo caso podemos referirnos a ella como un pseudanto (falsa flor). El caso más notable lo ofrecen las plantas de la familia llamada tradicionalmente Compuestas, que incluye a las margaritas o los cardos. Cada margarita consiste en un conjunto de flores creciendo juntas, con un orden muy preciso, sobre un disco o cono.
