Met up with an assorted bunch of flickrers and TP forum members last night. Set this up to stack whilst we undertook various group light painting missions.
On that subject - Issue 5 of N-Photo magazine, the Nikon-specific title, carries a 12 page behind-the-scenes story of a night shoot at various locations around Portsmouth. All good newsagents etc

Useing Photoshop,HDR FX pro 2 and Picasa 3. helped to turn a everyday photo in to a creative work of art. This took about a hour of work to get the old classic look. I think it works okey. Im happy with it.

This site was the reason for my trip to Sardinia as I had to see this with my own eyes, how they build this can not be explained if you believe in the history told by archeologists, this is just so far beyond all the other historical sites they build, it was clearly build by master masons who had incredible understanding of the astronomical events. Also the precission is just mind blowing. The other sites were stunning as well, but this is right up there with the pyramids of Gizah which I still have to visit some day.

The Pozzo Sacro di Santa Cristina (Holy Well of Santa Cristina) is widely considered the masterpiece of Nuragic architecture. Located near Paulilatino, Sardinia, this temple dates back to approximately 1100–1000 BC. Unlike the rugged, megalithic look of most Nuraghi, this sacred well is famous for its isodomic masonry—basalt blocks cut with such surgical, millimetric precision that they look modern.
The Architecture
The structure consists of a keyhole-shaped enclosure (temenos) that leads to a trapezoidal staircase of 25 steps. These steps descend into a subterranean chamber with a beehive-shaped dome (tholos), roughly 7 meters high, which protects a natural spring. The geometry is so perfect that as you descend, the ceiling creates an "inverted staircase" effect above you.
Astronomical Significance
For decades, scholars and archaeoastronomers (most notably Arnold Lebeuf) have studied the well as a sophisticated celestial observatory. Its design aligns with both the sun and the moon with incredible accuracy:
1. The Solar Equinoxes
Twice a year, during the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes (March and September), the sun aligns perfectly with the angle of the staircase. At midday, sunlight travels down the stairs and illuminates the water at the bottom.
The "Double Shadow": If you stand on the bottom steps during this time, you can witness a unique optical phenomenon: your shadow is projected both onto the water and upside-down onto the walls of the inner chamber.
2. The Lunar Standstill (Lunistice)
The most extraordinary feature is its lunar alignment. Every 18.6 years, a phenomenon called the Major Lunar Standstill occurs. At this peak, the moon reaches its highest point in the sky.
The vertical "oculus" (the hole at the top of the dome) was positioned so that during this rare event, the moonlight falls perfectly vertically through the opening, reflecting directly in the center of the water mirror below.
Note: We are currently in a lunar standstill period (peaking in 2024–2025), making this a particularly significant time for the site.
Cultural Meaning
The well was likely a sanctuary dedicated to a water cult, where the liquid represented the "womb" of the Earth. The marriage of water (Earth) and light (Heaven) during these astronomical alignments suggests the Nuragic people saw the cosmos and the Earth as a single, connected living system.

Used for lifting heavy cargo or machinery, fork lifts were found throughout the galaxy in industrial complexes or starship hangars. Asoka used one to capture a rogue Load-lifer droid on Coruscant and the Mon Calamari starship designer Quarrie owned one while on the planet Shantipole.

Nam Long Shan (also known as Brick Hill) is a hill on the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong, near Wong Chuk Hang and Aberdeen. At an elevation of 247 metres, it overlooks the South China Sea in the south, Sham Wan and Aberdeen Channel in the west, and Deep Water Bay in the east.
The Summit of Ocean Park is on the southern slopes of Nam Long Shan, with a cable car system connecting through the eastern slopes to the Waterfront in Wong Chuk Hang.
Singapore International School, Canadian International School of Hong Kong, Good Shepherd Sisters Marycove Centre, Hong Kong Juvenile Care Centre Chan Nam Cheong Memorial School, Nam Long Hospital and David Trench Home for the Aged are on the western slope of the Nam Long Shan.
My grandmother used to tell me stories about the hoboes that would pass through her neighborhood during the Great Depression. When they came knocking, her mother (my great grandma Nina) would feed them a meal in exchange for cutting some wood or cleaning up their property. Apparently, one of the wanderers left a mark on one of the stone walls at the corner of their property that told other hoboes that her's was a friendly house. Because of that, she got a lot of wood cut and served a lot of meals. I always loved that story and for years during my childhood I had fond dreams of one day becoming a hobo myself. Now, I just believe in paying kindness forward--thanks Nina.

Using a pale blue gel on a diffused close flash and candle smoke. Just some minor de-saturation in lightroom and we're done. Could really do with a macro lens for this sort of stuff but i haven't got one.
Using old tech for shooting water drops with a ring light attached to the front of the lens. Something different from the snow of the past few days. Even though the "Selectavision" type disc is black like a vinyl record lp at first glance, it will reflect colours like a CD, or DVD does. Sometimes you get some strikingly different results as in these 2 examples.
I used 2 flashs Canon Speedlite 600 EX-RT with Canon speedlite st-e3-rt with an umbrella Lastolite. Camera, set as master in M mode.
I wanted to use the necklace from this shot, but I can't find it ): I can't find my tripod either, yikes! But yeah, in using the little pocket watch necklace, I was hoping to create a concept but... couldn't find it. So I used my pearls which is "classy". So I think the pearls still go hand in hand with some classic literature, rightright? (;
Anywho, this book is one of my favorites: Little Women. Written by Louisa May Alcott, it's a brilliant story (made up of two parts, actually) about girls growing into women and all the experiences they see through. Oh dear goodness, I just love how real the characters are and the life lessons! In my opinion, the romance is far better than the sentimental gush found in Twilight. But it's not the romance that makes it so special to me... I don't even know where to start! If you have never considered Little Women, I recommend for you to give it a go. If it ends up not being your thing, then that's okay (: But seriously! Go visit the library. NOW! :D

My least used class simply because I'm used to reloading after every kill, which is inconvenient when using and LMG. However, nonetheless I loved the design and had to make it. He is equipped with an Ares Shrike 5.56, otherwise known as the AWS in the game, and an M249 on the side. A detail I included last minute was the bungee cord on his belt, made from staples and thread. I sculpted the larger pouch on the vest and the rolled up sleeves, which are the first successful sculpts I've ever made. To amplify the stereotype bulkiness of support, I crowded the vest and put more mass on the legs.
I took KalSkirata's lighting advice and changed up some settings and lighting, definitely a lot nicer turnout. Special thanks to him for that, R.Goff1 for the gloves and smaller pouch on the leg, Cygnet UD for the boot design, Tiny Tactical, CombatBrick, and Minifig.Cat for all their respective parts! This figure would not be possible without those!
Well, there's the second fig in the Battlefield line; Engineer will follow suit. Let me know your thoughts, and as always, expect more, and comment speak louder than faves!
