Garden Update 20250823

Canon PowerShot A3000 IS

Hello,

As many of you know I have not uploaded in a while. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still around and into Lego, but school and sports have been taking up a lot of my free time so I will try to upload a bit more but no promises. I also really like video games, so that’s a factor.

But I am still into Lego. I will be posting over thanksgiving break and Christmas break.

Thanks,

~BB

I updated my LEGO Ideas project with a new version of Teela and Beast Man: ideas.lego.com/projects/94020/updates

I feel like these are my best version of these characters so far, thanks to the new Snake Headdress and Chin Beard parts.

Sorry for this super long hiatus, I've been really busy this past few months after the moving and well, In a small while I had free I updated this build to be more stable, changing the knees and updating the shoulders, changed the head as well, the flaps now move, and the cockpit is more stable now, the bad news, it lost the option to change mode.

So hope you like it, and remember, if you want this made by LEGO, support it on ideas:

I might have to go back tomorrow and search out this spot and see if I can figure out the story....a son or husband? Either way, it's a shame. I look across the endless cemetery, now full, and think one thing; Failed Diplomacy. Our government excells in that area.

Update:

I went back this morning and found the rest of the story about this woman; the mother of a daughter killed in action a year ago in Afghanistan.

Here's the story that was reprinted in the Army Times titled "The last moments of Jennifer Moreno, an Army nurse killed in Afghanistan". The original story was written by Adam Ashton of the Tacoma News Tribune.

TACOMA, WASH. — In her last moments of life, Army nurse Capt. Jennifer Moreno heard two orders.

One was a call to help a wounded soldier struck by a blast in a booby-trapped killing field at an Afghanistan bomb-making compound.

The other was a command to stay put lest she strike another mine in the bomb belt.

The nurse from Madigan Army Medical Center chose to help the wounded soldier, and gave her life trying.

In the words of her commander, Moreno ran "into hell" to rescue a comrade on the night she was killed. Newly released narratives of the Oct. 5 battle reveal the kind of hell Moreno and dozens of Army special operators found while trying to disrupt a plot to kill civilians in the city of Kandahar.

A total of 12 bombs exploded that night — a chain reaction that took the lives of four U.S. soldiers and wounded at least 25.

The fifth bomb killed Moreno, 25, of San Diego who volunteered for a dangerous assignment supporting special operators in combat.

The 11th bomb wounded three soldiers trying to recover her body.

Moreno is Madigan's only fatal casualty from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, even though the hospital south of Tacoma has continuously deployed soldiers to medical facilities in combat zones.

Moreno "sacrificed her life so others could live," her Bronze Star commendation reads.

The News Tribune previously reported Moreno's death and covered her memorial service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. But her award commendation, which the newspaper obtained recently, sheds more light on that chaotic day, and on the heroic steps that were taken to honor the Soldiers Creed: "I will never leave a fallen comrade."

BREAKING UP A PLOT

Moreno is one of only 11 women from Lewis-McChord to die in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and one of only two women from the local base who were commissioned officers when they were killed.

Moreno died with Sgt. Patrick Hawkins and Spc. Cody Patterson of the Georgia-based 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and special agent Joseph M. Peters of a military police unit based in Italy.

The Army says their sacrifices stymied an attack "that would have resulted in the deaths of unknown multitudes of innocent civilians." At least two insurgents died in the compound; two of them were wearing suicide vests.

The narratives were written to support military honors several soldiers received for their actions in the fight. Moreno posthumously received a Bronze Star. So did Hawkins and Patterson.

Spc. Samuel Crockett, who survived that bloody day, received a Silver Star for risking his life over a two-hour rescue. He played a key role in recovering Moreno's body after the 11th blast, and in providing life-saving medical aid to a wounded soldier.

He also set off the 12th and final bomb, but it had a low detonation that did not injure him.

The battle began as the soldiers approached the compound in Kandahar's Zhari district and called out for its occupants to surrender.

None of the insurgents inside would be taken alive.

WOMAN IN SUICIDE VEST

The first to die was an Afghan woman walking out of the compound wearing a suicide vest.

She detonated the explosive, killing herself, wounding six troops and setting off a second blast nearby. Two soldiers rushing to help troops wounded in the first blast hit the third bomb. A second enemy fighter died in those early blasts, too.

An Afghan insurgent who ran away from the building detonated the fourth explosive, another suicide vest. The bomb killed him and a military working dog named Jani.

Moreno heard a call from a staff sergeant to help a wounded soldier. At the same time, the battle's ground commander told all of the soldiers to stay where they were.

Her Bronze Star commendation uses dry, formal military language to describe the decision she faced.

"Disregarding her own well-being," it reads, "Moreno unhesitatingly moved to assist (the soldiers) upon realizing the severity of the wounds sustained by her fellow teammates."

"While in transit, Moreno detonated Device No. 5 and was killed in action."

Few could make the same choice.

"None of us would have done what you did, running into hell to save your wounded brothers, knowing full well you probably wouldn't make it back," the commander of Moreno's female Special Operations support team in Afghanistan, Capt. Amanda King, later wrote in a eulogy.

'FOLLOW ME'

The battle did not end with Moreno's sacrifice.

"Follow me," Hawkins told Patterson as they made their move to reach the wounded.

Patterson stepped on a mine, the sixth detonation. He stumbled and hit the seventh, delivering fatal wounds to both him and Hawkins.

Peters, the military police officer, set off explosions No. 8 and No. 9 after working to clear a helicopter landing zone for medical evacuations.

Crockett arrived with a 20-soldier force dispatched to clear the area of mines and rescue the wounded. He was trained for the job as a soldier in a North Carolina-based explosives command.

He cleared space for medics to work on casualties and made his way to isolated Rangers, escorting them through the mine belt to safety. He managed to retrieve Hawkins, the fallen military dog and various pieces of sensitive military equipment without detonating more bombs.

"His focus on retrieving teammates from stranded positions ultimately preserved their lives," his Silver Star commendation reads.

11TH EXPLOSIVE

Moreno's body remained on the field.

Three soldiers from Crockett's unit tried to retrieve her, but struck the 11th explosive.

Crockett ran to them, halting at the edge of his cleared path.

He saw his platoon sergeant injured but standing. Crockett guided him back to safe ground.

With no clear path to his two newly wounded teammates, Crockett got down to the ground and swept the earth for mines with his own hands.

He reached a private first class who lost his right leg to the bomb. Crockett applied a tourniquet and "single-handedly dragged him to an area where medics could safely render treatment."

There was one more injured teammate left to recover from the 11th explosion. Crockett set off the final blast as he stepped to the wounded sergeant.

It didn't kill him, so he continued with the rescue. He chose a different path, again swept the ground with his hands, and brought his teammate back to safety.

Still, Moreno's body remained where she fell.

Crockett got as close as he could to the fallen nurse, attached a drag line to her and pulled her to the safe area.

With Moreno recovered, the operators made the call to leave the compound.

Finally, they got out of hell. They did not leave one of their own behind.

Sadly the PBR release created some problems due to how differently alpha textures are rendered now. This was particularly apparent on the hairbases of many of our styles, so we've been busy correcting this issue on the following listed hairstyles. I'm ready for a new update :)

Mini Moo is doing well. He visited the vet yesterday, and then returned to my friends' farm to stay in their upstairs bathroom. I know that he will get more of the interaction that he craves staying in a house that homeschools three young kids rather than in the home of someone who is more often than not gone twelve hours a day for work. I have visiting privileges, of course! At the vet, Mini Moo received an antibiotic injection. He also will have ear drops, eye drops, a med to treat parasites, and lysine. This little trooper continues to be able to eat on his own and his drive to live is back in full gear. I truly hope and pray that his eyes respond to the treatment. . . I don't wish for Mini Moo to live with chronic eye issues (although I know the quality of life can be easily great. . . just look at Gumbo!). We are also praying for the right home for this little love bug!

Updated render of my Snow and Sand speeders using the new Stud.io render engine.

There are some slight updates to the nose peices of the speeders due to some new parts that LEGO recently released.

Instructions can still be found here: www.brickvault.toys/products/snowspeeder-minifig-scale

The updated parts are all easily visible in the new render, so if anyone wanted to update their builds they shouldn't have much trouble.

This is an updated rendering of my LEGO Ideas project: Water Lily. Please support the project at the following link: ideas.lego.com/projects/93196/updates Thanks! BuildFiend :)

Storm near Rushford, WI early on June 22, 2017. The old edit was really, really bad...I like this one much better. :D

New Products coming soon!~

I added ammo to his bandolier.

from AEF, this is amazing!

6 months ago, we released a 14-week-old Bald Eagle named "Awohali" (Patagial Tag A19) into the wild. Awohali was hatched at Eagle Mountain Sanctuary in Dollywood Theme Park, located at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains.

We are happy to announce that on January 1st, Awohali was spotted in Ohio! We're thrilled to know that this beautiful eagle is thriving in the wild! Photos courtesy of Mike Stone.

Spring Update 20260529

Fujifilm XT-1

Nikon NIKKOR-O f/2 35mm

I haven't been on flickr much at all since they (in my opinion) ruined it. I will make more of an effort when i'm not so busy to post more though! (Doll related stuff, not just cats!)

Toto got very sick not too long ago and had to be rushed into surgery. Poor little man had a blockage of some sorts in his intestine. He seems to be back to his naughty little self now though, but i'm having to sell a lot of my doll items to pay the vets!!

Abandoned Abused Street Dogs.

Mamas still in bad shape. Very weak !

Can't stand or walk for very long at all.

Everyday she is returned to the dog doctor for

injections, wound inspections plus bandage

change. Lots of dead meat has been cut out.

This schedule will continue for quite

some time into the near future.

Makes for a long day, leaving around 5AM and

getting home in the late late afternoon.

Arrived at the nuns place just as daybreak crested

the horizon.Handed off a bunch of home cooked

food that no# 1 had made special for them.

They were concerned cuz Mama was missing, but so

was Rocky. Using sign language an bits of Thai/English

I let them know Mama an Rocky were most likely over at

The Dog Palace.

Pulled up to the gate, Rocky came racing around the corner,

poked me with his wet nose then raced back to where he

had come from. And where would that be you ask ?

IMO, The Bingo Room of course and that is where Mama was.

This photo of Mama is right by the door into the bingo room.

She never moved from this position except to raise her head

when water poured on my fingers was offered to her.

She licked the water from my hand for a few minutes then laid

her head back down an never moved again.

When it was time to go she was carried to the sidecar and laid

on a soft blanket for the trip to the dog doctor.

At the clinic she was carried in an laid on the clean cool tile floor while waiting her turn.

It's first come first served, there's usually 10-15 dogs ahead of us.

Once the doctor was finished she was carried back to the sidecar and we headed back to the nuns place.

Mamas in a tremendous amount of pain and is suffering greatly.

The daily trips to the dog clinic will continue for some time except for Wednesdays as that is the only day they are closed.

An apology is sent out for not answering all your comments

as usual but I've been a bit overwhelmed lately.

A special thank you for all your support and donations which

is desperately needed now to save Mama ... Thank You ... ;-)

Thank You.

I do hate to have to post this; but it is what it is. Flickr is changing, and I can't afford Pro, thus, my only option was to go through and clear out all the things Flickr deemed 'moderate' (though I disagree with a lot of what they thought was 'moderate' on my account)

The easiest way for me to deal with this was to just clear my account of photos. But don't worry! I'm not goin' anywhere. I'll be re-uploading some things (only SFW stuff, since no pro!)

I'll probably be more quiet in uploading -- lets be real, I don't upload a ton to begin with -- and most the things I uploads from this point are more likely to be some of the landscaping/building things I do in SL.

I appreciate all the support from y'all to this point; and I hope you stick around despite the changes!

I don't have a twitter, but if I do end up making it, I'll make another post or something with that link.

I think he looks more like a rainbow than before.

I'm not sure on the text.
