365 Moments in 2012 Day 48 of 365/6 Moments in 2012 - my least favorite thing and two of my favorite things. Hats were not meant for women unless they're young, tall, have long wavy hair and the hat is wide brimmed and has a lovely flower or bow on it. Cameos are meant in any shape, form, or fashion for every woman. Most women just haven't realized yet that a cameo is not only a piece of classic jewelry but a true work of art!

2012: 52 Weeks/52 Words Sorry this is late! Posting the hat because last week I wasn't available but truly am trying to keep up with this group (sorry 365 - I'll never catch up). The only hat I own that I've been caught wearing. Sun hats are a requirement whether you like them or not!

UP 6255 makes great time rolling eastbound at MP 24.25 on the UP Kansas Sub just after sunrise. This train wasted no time from getting from Grantville to here and the 500mm focal length does an excellent job of making things look good here.

Fillin' up the old Grand Caravan in Springville, Utah County, Utah. With the size of families here in Utah vans are an all too common sight

UP stack train from last night rolling past Loring and the the remnants of a 20+ car pileup that happened a few weeks back. The cars have been sitting there long enough now that the weeds have grown up around them. I'd venture to say they might still be there when the snow starts to fly. It's a real crying shame that the derailment didn't take out some more trees along the ROW.

A typical upskirt shot, 1950s style. Found in Ohio. Other photos found with this one are of a happy couple enjoying a picnic outing. Very risque for the time period, especially since they were likely commercially developed at the local drugstore.

This drawbridge has me irked lately! It has been closed for most of the the summer for repairs. And it 's now been stuck in the up position for the past of couple weeks. Meanwhile, I never see any work being done on it. The Bascuale Bridge connects the west side & east side of Lorain. We live walking distance from this bridge on the west side of town. We used to regularly drive over this bridge to Lakeside Marina and the Lorain lighthouse area (2 minute drive). Now we have to take a 20 minute detour over the Henderson bridge to get to the other side of town; or to head into Cleveland and the suburbs. Many businesses near this bridge are losing a good deal of revenue as a result of this closure.

I'll continue to deal for the next couple of months until it re-opens. And since it has become more difficult to go & take photos of the Lorain Lighthouse, I figured I'd snap a photo of this bridge after the sunset instead.

Back before every train had Gevo's three SD70's scream east across Iowa with a pig trailer train for Canal street in Chicago.

Fay in the flashlights

I walked by this incredible building in London today. It was futuristic and looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. I stood and watched people go in and out and up and down for about 10 minutes. Everyone in their fancy suits and slimming dresses. It reminded me of just how we live our lives in the Western World and what we live for. At this point I had to ask myself - at the end of the day what really matters in life?

Also using this shot for last week's Global Creative Photography Project Theme of quotes. This building and the people around it reminded me of this quote:

"What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" Matthew 6:24

Also dug this quote up in regards to elevators:

"If you die in an elevator, be sure to push the Up button."

UP 5502 is pushing on the rear of this eastbound Intermodal as it rumbles through Malakwa.

...is sometimes the only direction left to go, isn't it?

This image was taken late last summer. I had been eyeballing this stairway for months, as it is located only a couple of blocks from my apartment and I'd see it every time I drove home. The colors always amazed me - that surrealistic blue winding up into the lush greens. Together with the lamps blazing, it seemed like a possible scene from an urbanized Narnia. So one night I made up my mind to walk down in the dark and do some shooting. I didn't scan this image to post when I first saw it; it's taken a while to grow on me.

Taken with my Zero Image 2000.
