Shell station where I stand

This old gas pump in my hand

My boss don't like me, got a face like a weasel

Oil on my hands and the smell of diesel

Here comes a big shot from the city

V8 engine, she runs so pretty

'Fill her up son, unleaded

I need a full tank of gas where I'm headed'...

Just a mere change of brands...

Alfred Kneebone's single site glass Fry Visible 10-gallon gasoline pump at his Shell station which he operated between 1927 - 1944...

If you might have a hankering to own such a cool old pump for your man/woman cave, there's currently one available on eBay for a mere asking price of $24,995...(plus $1,200 shipping)...

UP 733 heads out of Stockton yard to begin its day at Ortega.

Wisdom, Happiness, and Courage are not waiting somewhere out beyond sight at the end of a straight line; they're part of a continuous cycle that begins right here. They're not only the ending, but the beginning as well.

Aboutme

Photos from the April 13th date

The employee pride locomotive created to honor the men and women of the Union Pacific Railroad at UP's South St Paul yard.

Warm morning light covers UP 7019 working at track speed out of the sag between Mohawk and Stoval Az. The sanitization of the Gila Subdivision continues with the loss of H2 Searchlights and now with the removal of the classic code line poles which use to line the right of way on the left side of this image. Progress is not a very photogenic thing.

With code-line poles and searchlight signals framing the scene Union Pacific's eastbound 'salad shooter' works up the west slope of Sherman Hill at the top end of Hermosa, WY.

I had to revisit my Bushy Park file before I fill it up again with the rut which isn’t far off.

Threading the Humboldt River in remote Palisade Canyon eastbound grain empties ride former Western Pacific iron en route to a crew change in Elko, Nevada. Coming in second place to lay rail through the Canyon WP shared the limited space along the Humboldt with the Southern Pacific, pairing their trackage to create a stretch of double track railroad (eastbounds on the WP and westbounds on the SP). Today the trackage through Palisade serves in the same capacity now under the sole ownership of the Union Pacific.

In our search of sunlight and snow, we ended back up on the north side of the Gotthard pass. The viaduct at Amsteg would get some of the latest winter light. It is located high above the small town. When the train exits a tunnel it enters the bridge immediately. Check out this alternative view: it shows it more clearly, from the other side. For this take we got some more sunlight than the year before, and a bus that passed accidentily at the right time. Also check out the other cargo we got down here.

*** The first two days at school were super crazy and busy! I feel as if I were the fish in the image. Though I'll be still uploading pics here and there, I will be doing little commenting as the new school year has officially started yesterday. So, please feel free not to comment on the photos.

Thank you very much for your visits or comments in advance.
