In the twilight hours of a winter evening, CN 2225 heads up the north leg of the wye in Squamish, BC as it makes its way towards the port and terminals.
A lone Watco GP30 rolls into downtown Toledo on its way to working the Georgia-Pacific mill in town. Although the Portland and Western operates the branch leading up to Toledo, Watco is contracted to switch the mill itself. On this day, the handoff between the P&W and Watco took place in broad daylight after a downed tree forced the Toledo Hauler to outlaw on their trip west.
The east bound is out of the tunnel and on the way down the hill. Again, the Centennial is buried in the consist.

Rolling across the desolate Smoke Creek Desert, detoured tonnage (which originated at Englewood, TX) split the old WP searchlight signals west of Sano. In a few more miles this westbound will start up the 1% grade to Sand Pass.

Struggling for time this week grabbed a quick shot whole waiting for Dominos Pizza!!! Got a feeling the predicted bad weather is gonna stop any photography this weekend.

On Sunday afternoon we went hiking at San Francisco's Lands End. We ended up at the Sutro Bath ruins, always a good spot for sunset. We had fun playing with the sun, communicating over distance with hand gestures - no mobile phone reception here.
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photo from two RAW exposures, merged them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The EMD LaGrange plant in McCook, IL currently looks like a UP facility. UP SD70ACe-T4s are all over the facility getting work done.
A trio of GEs, led by 'big 6' rebuild 7049, power through the curves at Cable with an eastbound 'I' train. Note the restored former Union Pacific caboose at upper left, it is currently a nicely done Airbnb 'room' for rent...I would sure like to wake up to the view from that property :}

on the climb from Trout Run up to the old gravel pit, emerging through beech-maple forest to open meadow
North of Touhy, I missed a turn, which ended up being a blessing and lead us right to this shot from the highway. Bonus points for getting the whole train.
This particular pond that the Blue Heron frequents has a lot of Water Lily plants that suddenly burst into growth mode as the temperature warms up. In one such instance, this Heron got more than what he bargained for; as he dove his beak into water in order to catch a fish he got tangled up in the weed. At the end he managed to free himself up and went to sit on a floating log to nurse his ego. Richmond Hill, Ontario
word soon gets around as to where the next wave is landing! We rarely see surfers on Dollar cove at Gunwalloe but this day it was the chosen spot for a few surfers. I expect the surf is well up in many parts around the UK with the storm thats blowing across the country right now. I hope you all survive unscathed, Alan:-) have a great W/end too………
