This was part of the damage caused by Storm Doris. Literally thousands of starfish washed up on Talacre beach :-(.
Quite the Show
We saw a day’s worth of trains within 8 minutes. The timestamp between me shooting the DPU and shooting the head end of the potash local was 4 minutes. Surprisingly, there were three units on the potash local, and one of the units, a crusty AC44, was set out at Brendel. This left a tagged 70M as the leader for the return trip, a unit I had absolutely no interest in shooting, but without any other ideas, we started the drive towards Moab to do…something? Whatever our goal was, I got word there was a crew to be called out of Helper for the coal train, so we changed course. In my infinite wisdom, I neglected to do research on Solider Summit, assuming I wouldn’t end up there. It probably cost me a better shot than the one I got, but I can’t change it now. Like I’ve said before—I often enjoy all the aspects outside of shooting more than I do dealing with the photos I’ve taken. I tend to only see the flaws in the photos I take and can’t enjoy them much anyway. The chase and the experience don’t allow time for me to sit and think, just time to be present, and a chronic over-thinker comes to appreciate that. I have, however, come to realize how pointless the hobby becomes if I never post the pictures I take. I enjoy looking at your photos, you enjoy looking at photos, but if everyone thought the way I did, there would no photos to look at. So in spite of the fact I wish these could post themselves, I do my best to share them.
I know I already said it, but thanks again to those who helped me along the way. Your generosity altered the direction of our trip for the better.

The sunset behind me lights up Park Point (the hill at left) and The Promontory (at right). Sliding to exaggerate sunset colors.

In my experience Elephants, like people, are easy to read. Aggression is generally only the outcome if you refuse to respect their boundaries.

Spunky, as she is getting all dolled up.
Please do not use my photos or my characters without my permission, thank you,
I took this image some time ago but this is the first time I have uploaded one. This tree was washed up onto the beach during a huge storm. It's still there now, but is now further from the water.
Looking up into the overcast skies, the curves of this building invoke the comforting aesthetic of modern London life.

Massive in size--probably a Carpenter--too big for a simple Bumble. Interesting red/pinkish spot on its thorax right below its head. I love that fuzzy back leg.I have other photos of this same character (as well as other bees), so I don't know why it took me so long to put one up.
(More intimidating in Lightbox!)
Thanks for Viewing.
Caught UP 5320 leading a southbound manifest on Friday as it rounded the corner at Lake Point at about 6:15PM. I had some great evening light lined up, but she arrived five minutes too late to take advantage of the moment.
Tehachapi!
With a westbound BNSF double-stack holding main two awaiting the dispatcher's discretion, a pair of new Union Pacific Tier-IVs lead an eastbound Roseville to West Colton manifest through the curves at Cable.

Flamborough and Bempton as seen from Filey Brigg.
As usually happens, clouds covered the sunrise proper but a short time thereafter, the sun blasted its light through the clouds and lit up the cliffs around the Flamborough peninsular. Quite a spectacular morning and well needed after two weeks of coughs and colds put me out of action. Surprising how my mood changes for a whole week if we don't get to have a run out somewhere.
H-GALPAS muscles up the Midway Sub to Northtown for a crew change. Nice to see H1 paint leading in decent afternoon light. Was glad this took the Midway Sub as main 1 on the St Paul Sub was filled with parked westbounds waiting for a slot into Northtown, this S curve at Western Ave has also been on the list for a while.
The westbound UP-led military move did not make to Union Jct before the sun was down, due to excess railroad molasses, however I decided to stick around for it anyway. The least I could do was mess around with some pan shots as he was at least not crawling towards Park Jct. Attempts with trailing military equipment turned out a little better, but it was still fun. Nice running into you Douglas !
This one is "Lined Up"
I got this one inbetween storm fronts.. and this is one of the only shots when the sun actually appeared from behind the clouds. Which made a nice sunny glow ont op of the water.
thanks for viewing.
