Indigenous, African, and European influences blend to create a unique culture within Brazil that includes religions like none other in the world. Afro-Brazilian religions have played an important contribution to Brazilian culture for generations; however, they are often pushed into the shadows and suffer from widespread misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and prejudice.
With practitioners of these religions forming a massive but disconnected community, Jayro Pereira de Jesus, Ashoka Fellow, saw an opportunity: organize across marginalized religious groups to not just gain the power to emerge into the mainstream, but to be able to demand respect. In a country dominated by European standards, these groups have often felt the pressure to uphold themselves to these standards in order to gain acceptance. According to Jayro, community is power. Through community building, practitioners unlearn these internalized attitudes and uplift their own culture as a moral compass.
The Afro-Brazilian religions with which Jayro works hold a distinct framework for problem solving than dominant Western religions. For example, there tends to be less of a dichotomy between good and evil within their belief systems. With these religions finally gaining the respect they deserve in the mainstream, Jayro is opening new pathways toward an Everyone A Changemaker world.
Picture shot by her grand mother
Ever since the birth of our grand daughter Marziya Shakir and the imminent addition to our growing family, and the law of averages , as Samiy my daughter will marry and go off to start her family , so I think knowing my love for the girl child God filled us with joy in advance.Saif Shakir my son 25 years old is still single and somehow the Istikhara , the method by which the choice of his bride is seen through the Holy Koran, or through prayer beads, has come short either seen by the prospective brides family or by us..
We were plannning to get Saif married after Moharam this year.
The matter now is spirtually sub judice..
All in the court of Allah.
I with the birth of Marziya have rediscovered my camera and am Unlearning Photography.. though I feel m wife Afshaan Shakir does a better job than me , no blur right on target.
Shooting Marziya hones my inner quest, and seeing her grow her expressions, give me hope as Photographerno1.
She is a task master, and I am never satisfied, she blends with the camera , fused so to speak.
While I write this there are almost a 100 pictures of her at my house comp that I shot in 2 sessions on a single day.

I'm so inspired by some of the flicker buddies here...exploring their skills in editing and merely blending the colors/tones/textures of their portrait to put into the frame...
And as I track their portfolios...they started their 365 long time ago...and now...having their own studio...so amazing!
Will I ever reach that dream?...
And if there are some vines along my way...and thorns...I'll be naked to unlearn and learn again,..going back to the basic...and having the foundation from my very own experiences=)
I'm so excited what the future holds unto me...puzzled but so eager to know=)

Here, the Awakening, which is the flourishing of Wisdom, which is the unfurling of Happiness, which is the recognition of the Supreme Truth of God, it is just the finding of your Real Nature. It has nothing to do with expertise, with training, with capability, not at all. Here you can unlearn! I haven't seen this band in almost 20 years. It was ultimately kind of depressing: Old, slow, going through the motions, kind of. They tried their best but...I don't know, it just wasn't the same. Plus they didn't fucking play Incarnation or Windows, and Jon Salemi wasn't teven there. I mean what the Christ.

Zip is a garment that connects to your phone or music player and allows you to control it simply by performing natural gestures that are built into the mechanics of the garments we wear. In this case, zip up to increase the volume, zip down to decrease it, and tug on the pullstraps to retract the integrated earbuds. Enjoy your music experience without all the devices and wires hanging all over you.

“so often you sabotage your very own
self, somehow you’ve been let to
believe that you are not worthy,
you’ve been thought that others deserve
fortune, while you must suffer in pain
well, we are here to tell you, YOU
are deserving of all that you wish for,
each and every one of you is equally
worthy, you each have a divine soul,
only on the outside, you differ at all
it’s high time you get out of your head,
unlearn those dogmas that are so stale,
open your heart, allow yourself to trust,
believe again, and let divine wealth and
fortune come in and brighten your way” sth

On Saturday, November 3, 2018, the Anti-Bias Education working group of the DCAESJ met for the first time. The session was co-hosted by Project UnLearn at Halcyon. Participants engaged in concentric circles to learn more about each other, developed definitions of anti-bias education in small groups, participated in a consultancy protocol about a dilemma posed by one of the participants, and shared goals and commitments for upcoming sessions. www.dcareaeducators4socialjustice.org/stories/anti-bias-e...

From the prabhasvara experience, gradually a further development takes place, which leads to the mahamudra experience---still a further space. The space of mahamudra is even much more positive than that of prabhasvara. Frequently, explanations of mahamudra speak in terms of symbolism, since mudra means symbol. But on this level, symbols do not exist as such; the sense of experience ceases to exist. What one perceives is actual reality. That is why it is called mahamudra, the great symbol. It is the symbol born within, wisdom born within.
In Tibetan, this wisdom born within is referred to by the terms ku and ye-she. In this context ku means "body"---that aspect of the experience of the universe that is definite and solid, composed of forms. In the mahamudra experience forms become solid and definite forms, colors become bright and definite colors, sounds become definite sounds. Thought processes also become, in some sense, real, because at this point there is no longer any reason to condemn thoughts or try to mold them into different pattern. It is just a spontaneous thinking of thoughts. Here spiritual development is not a matter of destroying anything but of rediscovering what is there through a process of unlearning preconceptions---constantly unlearning and unmasking. As a result of this constant unlearning, one begins to discover further details, further beauties in every area of one's being.
So ku, or body, is the direct experience of the living situation of the mandala spectrum, the whole range of life situations seen in terms of the mandala. And ye-she, or wisdom, has the same quality as ku---it is direct actual experience. It has nothing to do any longer with the spiritual learning process. It is complete and actual self-existing understanding.
The practice of mahamudra is to appreciate both positive and negative experiences as subtle symbolism, subtle expressions of basic being, to see the subtle basic situation, so to speak. The tantrism of mahamudra is very positive and spontaneous. Directly relating to the play of situations, energy develops through a movement of spontaneity that never becomes frivolous. The mahamudra experiences function naturally so that they lead us to destroy whatever needs to be destroyed and foster whatever needs to be fostered. The maturing process of mahamudra is one of extremely natural growth. One no longer has to try to stuggle along the path. The notion of struggling along the path has dropped away at the level of shunyata.
Q: You say that having experienced shunyata, one no longer feels driven to struggle on the path?
TRUNGPA RINPOCHE: Yes, that's right. You don't have to uncover any longer; you've uncovered already. At that point your innate nature begins to pick you up, and from then on spiritual development is a continually growing thing. It is as though you have reached the experience of the new moon; beyond that there is just a process of waxing. So the full moon begins to pick you up at the point of the shunyata experience.
Q: Could you say more about the difference between a yogi and a bodhisattva?
R: A yogi is one who has experienced the energy of the cosmos, the energy of the whole thing. He transmutes energies rather than trying to reform them, mold them into particular shapes. I wouldn't quite say spirituality of the bodhisattva is molding energy into particular shapes, but still there is a constant note of gentleness in the bodhisattva practice, which suggests a subtle molding of some kind. The yogi's practice is more direct and rugged. Traditionally, the beginning of the yogi's practice is the understanding of symbolism, but not as symbolism. "Symbol" is really a rather inadequate word. The practice involves relating to the images that arise in living situations as decisive indications of one's psychological state. The bodhisattva experience has much less of this subtle moment-to-moment insight. It is much more of a general lifestyle, a question of general behavior, rather than a continual relating to vivid details.
Q: Somehow it seems that this distinction between bodhisattva and yogi is artificial, like an article of religious dogma.
R: It's a progress. You begin as a bodhisattva, then you become a yogi. The dogma of religion drops away right at the beginning when you become a bodhisattva. As a yogi you pick up further on the non-dogmatic quality, but you also begin to enjoy the spiritual implications of things much more.
Q: Could you explain what you meant by the phrase "mandala spectrum"?
R: Actually, that's quite simple. At that stage you have developed very keen perception---sense of smell, of touch, of vision, of hearing---all these have developed to a very keen and acute level, a very precise level. We are speaking here of true perceptions, devoid of concepts. Nothing gets in the way. Having developed that ability, having entered this new dimension in which you are able to deal with situations directly, you see the world as it is; and this world-as-it-is becomes more and more complex. So many branches are branching out everywhere. At the same time, within this complex set-up of the world, simplicity presents itself as well: all these elements of the complexity branch out from one root, so to speak. The appreciation of this is the perception of the mandala spectrum. This appreciation, one might say, is curiousity in the fundamental sense---the actual, true curiosity; absolute curiosity. When you're absolutely curious about things, you lose yourself. You become completely part of the object. That's part of what is meant by letting-go.

The low information voters who are feeling that they are helpless victims (the voting majority!) have choosen this solution in despiration. They never bothered to learn about his calf, So, they expect to be helped by a Fortunate Son, failed businessman, convicted fellon, rapist, insurrectionist, operating with criminal immunity provided by a SCOTUS in his back pocket. What could go wrong. We will soon see.
HE WILL ABSOLUTELY DO SOMETHING TOTALLY ILLEGA:L AND IMMEDIATELY DECLARE THAT THE SUPREME COURT HAS CONFIRMED THAT HE, AS PRESIDENT, CAN DO NO WRONG.
ABSOFUCKINGLUTLEY ! HE IS THE JIM BAKKER OF POLITICS
Hoping beyond hope that Trump's toxic narcissism will be his driving force. and since , as a second term president, there is no higher place, he may just play golf and not do bad shit to piss everybody off.
When he issues the tariffs on China, his unlearned supporters are going to get a first hand lesson in very basic ecoomics
(tariffs = tax) Then they will learn a second lesson: A president has little control of the cost of living except the ability to make it way the fuck worst with very bad policy.
YOU CANNOT MASS DEPORT IMMIGRANTS. UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ARE 14% of AGRICULTURAL WORKERS. YOU WILL COLLAPSE THE ECONOMY.
